  • The existence of $n$ positive solutions is established for second order multi-point boundary value problem at resonance where $n$ is an arbitrary natural number. The proof is based on a theory of fixed point index for A-proper semilinear operators defined on cones due to Cremins.

  • This paper studies some properties of the value functions and gives some sufficient and necessary conditions about the presented global error and local error. And it leads to one kind of relationship between iterative points and optimal solution or K-T point.

  • Recently, Xue et al. [Computers and Mathematics with Applications 55 (2008) 1215-1224] proposed a formula for the expected value of a function of a fuzzy variable based on the assumption that the fuzzy variable has a continuous membership function. In conclusion, they remained the case where the membership function of the fuzzy variable is discontinuous for the future research, and then expected to get similar results. Thus this note is to propose a new formula for the expected value of a function of a general fuzzy variable which is not restricted on having a continuous membership function. Furthermore, we give an example which cannot be applied to the formula that Xue et al. proposed. We also use the same example given by Xue et al. to show how to apply the new formula.

  • In this paper, we establish some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions for a class of multi-point boundary value problem for fractional functional differential equations involving the Caputo fractional derivative. Our results are based on two fixed point theorems. Two examples are also provided to illustrate our main results.

  • In this paper, we give some results on the stability of f-harmonic maps with potential from or into spheres and any Riemannian manifold. We study the constant boundary-value problems of such maps defined on a specific Cartan-Hadamard manifolds, and obtain a Liouville-type theorem. It can also be applied to the static Landau-Lifshitz equations. We also prove a Liouville theorem for f-harmonic maps with finite f-energy or slowly divergent f-energy.

  • We show the existence of nontrivial solutions for some fourth order elliptic boundary value problem with fully nonlinear term. We obtain this result by approaching the variational method and using a linking theorem. We also get a uniqueness result.

  • In this paper, we present and prove new existence and uniqueness fixed point theorems for vector operators having a mixed monotone property in partially ordered product Banach spaces. Our results extend and improve existing works on τ-φ-concave operators in the scalar case. As an application, we study the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for systems of nonlinear Neumann boundary value problems.

  • A new fifth-order weighted Runge-Kutta algorithm based on heronian mean for solving initial value problem in ordinary differential equations is considered in this paper. Comparisons in terms of numerical accuracy and size of the stability region between new proposed Runge-Kutta(5,5) algorithm, Runge-Kutta (5,5) based on Harmonic Mean, Runge-Kutta(5,5) based on Contra Harmonic Mean and Runge-Kutta(5,5) based on Geometric Mean are carried out as well. The problems, methods and comparison criteria are specified very carefully. Numerical experiments show that the new algorithm performs better than other three methods in solving variety of initial value problems. The error analysis is discussed and stability polynomials and regions have also been presented.

  • In this paper, the singular three-point boundary value problem $$\{{{u"(t)\;+\;f(t,\;u)\;=\;0,\;t\;{\in}\;(0,\;1),}\atop{u(0)\;=\;0,\;u(1)\;=\;{\alpha}u(\eta),}}\$$ is studied, where 0 < $\eta$ < 1, $\alpha$ > 0, f(t,u) may be singular at u = 0. By mixed monotone method, the existence and uniqueness are established for the above singular three-point boundary value problems. The theorems obtained are very general and complement previous know results.
