The study was carried out for 101 establishments in Kyong-In areas to evaluate the industrial health management status utilizing the scoring method by Webb's model during the period from 1 September to October 30, 1977. To compare the results, reevaluation was made with the 45 questions' model prepared by 6 Korean professionals who were specialized in industrial health fields. The results were as follows: 1. The mean rate of affirmative answers for 101 establishments was 51.6%. The mean weighted score rate of affirmative answers was 52.3%. 2. The mean rate of affirmative answers on components of the philosophy and facility resource for 101 establishments was higher than that of average rate. The mean rate of affirmative answers on components of the health evaluation and health management among the health service program was lower than that of average rate. 3. The mean rate of affirmative answers on components was highter among the establishments with more than 500 employees. The mean rate of affirmative answers of chemical establishment was lower than that of others. 4. The mean rate of affirmative answers on 45 questions' model for 101 establishments were 67.1%. The mean weighted score rate of affirmative answers was 70.0%. 5. In case of 45 questions' model, the mean rate of affirmative answers on components of philosophy and treatment was higher than that of average rate and the mean rate of affirmative answers on components of the facility resource and the health evaluation was lower than that of average rate. 6. The mean rate of affirmative answers of the 45 Questions' model was higher than that of Webb's model in size and class of 101 establishments. Author concluded that Webb's model must be suitable for evaluating higher conditions of occupational health management than is presently used in Korean establishments. According to the results, however, there were no significant differences between Webb's model and the 45 questions' model. So it could be used to evaluate Occupational Health Program. For this objective, in Korean occupational situations, further study also must be made comprehensively thereafter.
In this study, fatigue properties and crack growth characteristics of a polycarbonate (PC) were examined during cyclic loading at various mean stress (${\sigma}_{amp}$) and stress amplitude (${\sigma}_{mean}$) conditions. Different S vs. N and da/dN vs. ${\Delta}K$ relations were obtained depending on the loading condition. The higher fatigue strength and the higher resistance of crack growth are seen for the PC samples cyclically loaded at the higher mean stress and lower stress amplitude due to the low crack driving force. Non-linear S - N relationship was detected in the examination of the fatigue properties with changing the mean stress. This is attributed to the different crack growth rate (longer fatigue life): the sample loaded at the high mean stress with lower stress amplitude. Even if the higher stress amplitude, the low fatigue properties are obtained for the sample loaded at the higher mean stress. This was due to the accumulated strain energy to the sample, where severe plastic deformation occurs instead of crack growth (plasticity-induced crack closure). Shear bands and discontinuous crack growth band (DGB) are observed clearly on the fracture surfaces of the sample cyclically loaded at the high stress amplitude, where the lower the ${\sigma}_{mean}$, the narrower the shear band and DGB. On the other hand, final fracture occurred instantly immediately after the short crack growth occurs in the PC sample loaded at the high mean with the low ${\sigma}_{amp}$, i.e., tear fracture, in which the shear bands and DGB are not seen clearly.
Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) observations from the Aquarius satellite in the East Sea show large systematic biases mainly caused by the surrounding lands and Radio Frequency Interferences (RFI) along the descending orbits on which the satellite travels from the Asian continent to the East Sea. To develop a technique for correcting the systematic biases unique to the East Sea, the least square regression between in situ observations of salinity and the reanalyzed salinities by HYCOM is first performed. Then monthly mean reanalyzed salinities fitted to the in situ salinities are compared with monthly mean Aquarius salinities to calculate mean biases in $1^{\circ}{\times}1^{\circ}$ boxes. Mean biases in winter (December-March) are found to be considerably larger than those in other seasons possibly caused by the inadequate correction of surface roughness in the sea surrounded by the land, and thus the mean bias corrections are performed using two bias tables. Large negative biases are found in the area near the coast of Japan and in the areas with islands. In the northern East Sea, data sets using the ascending orbit only (SCIA) are chosen for correction because of large RFI errors on the descending orbit (SCID). Resulting mean biases between the reanalysis salinities fitted to in situ observations and the bias corrected Aquarius salinities are less than 0.2 psu in all areas. The corrected mean salinity distributions in March and September demonstrate marked improvements when compared with mean salinities from the World Ocean Atlas (WOA [2005-2012]). In September, salinity distributions based on the corrected Aquarius and on the WOA (2005-2012) show similar distributions of Changjiang Diluted Water (CDW) in the East Sea.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship between the palpebral fissure and the exophthalmos in an elder women population in Korea subjects with normal eye status. Methods. From November 2014 to July 2015, The author analyzed the morphological values in 81 Korean elder women population. The clinical test was performed using the Hertel exophthalometer and verner califer. Analysis of data were described using the spss 20 and Pearson's test. Results. The mean age of the 81 subjects (162 eyes) was (73.938+/8.585)mm. The mean value of palpebral fissure was (5.673+/-2.065)mm in width and (24.179+/-4.409)mm in height. The mean value of exophthalmos was (5.537+/-2.151)mm. There were a significant relationship(P>0.01) in the mean size between the width and height in palpebral fissure. Also, there were a significant relationship(P>0.01) in the mean size between the palpebral fissure width and exophthalmos. Also, there were a significant relationship(P>0.01) in the mean size between the palpebral height width and exophthalmos. However, there were not significant relationship(P>0.01) in the mean size between the palpebral fissure width and exophthalmos in right eye. On the other hand, The relationship between right eye and left eye of the palpebral fissure and exophthalmos was similar results. Conclusions. In this study, these results suggested that the palpebral fissure and exophthalmos was a significant relationship in the mean value of morphologic characters in Korean elder women population.
Normal values of serum electrolytes were determined for adult 36 females and 18 males, 1 to 6 years old, of Jindo dogs. The mean values, standard deviation and rangEs of sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium and inorganic phosphorus were studied and data analyzed to determine whether differences existed between the values of female and those of male dogs. The results obtained in this study were as follows: 1. The mean value of serum sodium was $143{\pm}1.5mEq/liter$, ranged from 138mEq/liter to 152 mEq/liter. The mean values for the females and males were $144{\pm}2.0mEq/liter$ and $142{\pm}1.7mEq/liter$, respectively. Automated blood pressure monitors have gained acceptance in many clinical settings with the increasing demand, the accurate BP measuring devices reguire the need for validation. We have evaluated the Dinamap 8100, an oscillometric automated blood pressure monitor, using the Mercury sphygmomanometer as a reference. Comparison of sphygmomanometers was conducted 60 patients (30-Normotensive group, 30-Hypertensive group at Seoul National University Hospital. Two trained observers took measure blood pressure(systolic/diastolic) at the same time using the Dinamap 8100 on one arm and the Mercury on the other. For each measurement, the device was randomly selected from a group of devices repetively used for the experiment. Mean readings for systolic pressure with the Dinamap 8100 in normotensive group were lower(mean difference ; 4.26mmHg) than the Mercury type. Mean readings for systolic pressure with the Dinamap 8100 in hypertensive group were lower(mean difference ; 9.05mmHg) than the Mercury type. Mean readings for diastolic pressure with the Dinamap 8100 in normotensive group were lower (mean difference ; 7.46mmHg) than the Mercury type. Mean readings for diastolic pressure with the Dinamap 8100 in hypertensive group were lower(mean difference ; 9.03mmHg) than the Mercury type. We have found that blood pressure readings with the Dinamap 8100 were lower than those with the Mercury type. we are using the Mercury type in clinics, although it has observer bias and terminal digit preference. But the Dinamap 8100 is readily portable, simple to use, and capable of preventing observer bias and terminal digit preference. The Dinamap 8100 is acceptable for blood pressure determination in subjects who are normotensive or hypertensive ones.
The sleep is the most important problem for new parents. However, there were very rare the study about sleep of normal neonates and early infants in Korea. So we attempted pilot survey study of neonates' sleep pattern. The purpose of this study was to investigate the sleep pattern of normal neonates in Seoul and Kyungki area and to provide for basis for nursing intervention for parents of them. The subjects of this study were 37 normal full-term neonates of 2~3weeks of age who were visited by researcher or assistant at postpartum care unit, health care clinic, outpatient clinic located in Seoul and Kyungki area from April 20, 1999 to March 15, 2000. This study was descriptive survey study under the convenient sampling method. The instrument of this study was the NCASA translated by Korean Parent Child Health Academic Association. The collected data were coded as 1/4hour unit, and analyzed by MS Office Excel program. The result of this study were as followed: 1. The mean amount of total sleep was 15.1hours. The mean amount of daytime sleep was 9.5hours. The mean amount of nighttime sleep was 5.7 hours. The mean amount of longest sleep was 2.9hours. The mean amount of shortest sleep was 0.6hour. 2. The mean amount of total activity was 8.9hours. The mean amount of daytime activity was 6.5 hours. The mean amount of nighttime activity was 2.3hours. The frequency of feeding was 10.4 times a day. The frequency of daytime feeding was 7.3 times. The frequency of nighttime feeding was 3.1 times. It is suggested that various subjects and more data according to age, and comparative study among different cultures are needed for further study in the future.

The survival of Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) infants has been improved with the advancement of neonatal intensive care. However, the incidence of accompanying gastrointestinal complications such as necrotizing enterocolitis has also been increasing. In intestinal perforation of the newborn, enterostomy with or without intestinal resection is a common practice, but there is no clear indication when to close the enterostomy. To determine the proper timing of enterostomy closure, the medical records of 12 VLBW infants who underwent enterostomy due to intestinal perforation between Jan. 2004 and Jul. 2007 were reviewed retrospectively. Enterostomy was closed when patients were weaned from ventilator, incubator-out and gaining adequate body weight. Pre-operative distal loop contrast radiographs were obtained to confirm the distal passage and complete removal of the contrast media within 24-hours. Until patients reached oral intake, all patients received central-alimentation. The mean gestational age of patients was $26^{+2}$ wks ($24^{+1}{\sim}33^{+0}$ wks) and the mean birth weight was 827 g (490~1450 g). The mean age and the mean body weight at the time of enterostomy formation were 15days (6~38 days) and 888 g (590~1870 g). The mean body weight gain was 18 g/day (14~25 g/day) with enterostomy. Enterostomy closure was performed on the average of 90days (30~123 days) after enterostomy formation. The mean age and the mean body weight were 105 days (43~136 days) and 2487 g (2290~2970 g) at the time of enterostomy closure. The mean body weight gain was 22 g/day after enterostomy closure. Major complications were not observed. In conclusion, the growth in VLBW infants having enterostomy was possible while supporting nutrition with central-alimentation and the enterostomy can be closed safely when the patient's body weights is more than 2.3 kg.
The aim of this study is to present the basic reference data of age and specipic gait parameters for Hemiplegia Patients. The basic gait parameters were extracted from 10 Adult Hemiplegia Patients, 5 left Hemiplegia Patients and 5 right Hemiplegia Patients, 50 to 60 years of age using VICON 512 Motion Analyzer. The results were as follows; 1) The mean Cadence of the left to the right hemiplegia were $75.81{\pm}28.10\;steps/min$, to $68.47{\pm}9.93\;steps/min$. 2) The mean Walking Speed of the left to the right hemiplegia were $0.45{\pm}0.28\;m/s$, to $0.44{\pm}0.14\;m/s$. 3) The mean Stride Length of the left to the right hemiplegia were $0.66{\pm}0.31\;m$, to $0.76{\pm}0.17m$. 4) The mean. maximal angles of joint on the pelvic tilt for different right or left hemiplegia were $8.59{\pm}5.13^{\circ}$, to $11.85{\pm}5.23^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) 5) The mean maximal angles of joint on the hip flexion motion for different right or left hemiplegia were $23.98{\pm}8.45^{\circ}$, to $25.81{\pm}5.39^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) 6) The mean maximal angles of joint on the knee flexion motion for different right or left hemiplegia were $29.52{\pm}10.24^{\circ}$, to $28.38{\pm}14.48^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) 7) The mean maximal angles of joint on the ankle dorsiflexion motion for different right or left hemiplegia were $14.68{\pm}5.03^{\circ}$, to $9.90{\pm}7.26^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) 8) The mean maximal angles of joint on the ankle plantarflexion motion for different right or left hemiplegia were $2.10{\pm}5.17^{\circ}$, to $8.63{\pm}5.81^{\circ}$.(p>0.05)
