Mathematics Curriculum Reform and Power: A Case Study

  • Mathematics curriculum reform is very important, and it can be understood well by power. This paper uses the extended Foucault's power theory as foundations to view mathematics curriculum reform. The research's case is China's ongoing mathematics curriculum reform. Through analyzing the power relationships in China's ongoing mathematics curriculum reform, the paper thinks that power's balance is very important in mathematics curriculum design, because it will affect the designed curriculum.

  • The focus of this research is to set up and describe the mathematical derivation of an automobile power-assisted rack and pinion steering system dynamics. The mathematical model of the power steering system dynamics with a 5 DOF linear vehicle model will be used in the computer simulation and evaluated comparing with the experimental results. This model is flexible to accommodate different vehicles through simple parameter changes. The developed mathematical model will attempt to provide enhanced driver realism to a Systems Technology, Inc. driving SIMulator(STISIM).

Inter-conversion between the power and Arnoldi`s methods

  • We present a couple of tools that can be used in the solution of nonsymmetric eigenvalue problems. The first one allows us to convert power iterates into Arnoldi's results so that a few eigenpairs are easily obtainable. The other converts Arnoldi's results into power iterates to simulate the power method and improve the result. Suggestions for application are also given.

  • A 10-degree of freedom mathematical model of motion for power tiller-trailer system was developed. This model can predict motion characteristics of power tiller trailer system while travelling over smooth and irregular ground surfaces under various operating conditions. The model provide, the fundamental data needed to improve the stability of power tiller-trailer systems.
