교육수준과 지역결핍지수에 따른 뇌혈관질환 사망률 차이 (Difference of Area-based deprivation and Education on Cerebrovascular Mortality in Korea)

  • This study was performed to identify the difference of the area-based deprivation and the educational level on the cerebrovascular mortality in Korea. Data used in this study was obtained from the Death Certificate Data 2000 and the 2000 Census produced by Korean National Statistics(NSO). We classified the whole country into 246 areas based on the administrative districts. Then, the Standardized Mortality Ratio (SMR) in cerebrovascular disease was calculated according to the sex, education level and 246 areas. Its Predicted SMR was calculated by the Empirical Bayes Methods to reduce the variation of the SMR values. The area-based deprivation of 246 areas were measured using the modified Carstairs index in which the 5 indicators consisted of overcrowding, the unemployment ratio of men, the percentage of households classified low social class, the percentage of non home owners, and finally those houses lacking basic amenities. The correlation between the area-based deprivation and the SMR of the whole country and the correlation between the area-based deprivation and the SMR of each metropolitan cities or provinces was analyzed by the Pearson correlation analysis method. After classifying the deprivation of 246 areas into 5 levels, we performed the random intercept Poisson regression analysis after adjusting education level and age using Empirical Bayes Method to investigate the relationship between the 5 deprivation levels and the cerebrovascular mortality. The SMR was increased in lower education level. Each 246 areas had different values in SMR, Predicted SMR and area-based deprivation. The area-based deprivation and the SMR of the whole country was not correlated in both sexes. The education level of an individual was associated the risk of cerebrovascular mortality in men. The risk of cerebrovascular mortality increased with age compared to the reference(<30). The area-based deprivation was not associated with the risk of cerebrovascular in both sexes. The findings of this study suggest that the SMR had positive and negative correlations with area-based deprivation depending on the metropolitan cities or province. It also suggests that the individual education level and age were related with mortality and finally that the area-based deprivation was not associated to the cerebrovascular mortality in Korea.

고등학교 성교육 관련 교과 내용 분석 - SIECUS의 양성평등 관점 중심- (A Content Analysis of Sex Education in High School Textbooks Based on Gender Equality)

  • The purposes of this study are to analyze sex education content in high school textbooks and to suggest new guidelines for high school sex education content from a gender equality standpoint. The study analyzes sex-related content from high school textbooks based on the 7th curriculum, including subject areas such as Technical/Home Economics, Sciences, Physical Education, Social Studies and Moral Studies. The analysis relies on the framework of Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States that covers 4 levels and 6 categories as well as the framework of Choi (2005) that includes 36 themes in 6 different categories. The results of this study are as follows: First, high school sex-related textbooks are focused mainly on human development and human relations. Secondly, there is a lot of level 3 sex education content within the analyzed textbooks. Third, there are gender inequality issues in the coverage of such topics as pregnancy, contraception and sexual violence. Fourth, there are also gender inequality problems caused by content level. This study recommends that gender inequality issues be included in high school sex education guidelines in the future in order to provide improved and appropriate content for high school level sex education.

  • 본 연구는 가상적 자료 생성 과정에 기반을 둔 자료 표현 과제에서 나타나는 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생들의 통계적 소양 수준을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 가상적 자료 생성 과정을 포함하는 자료 표현 과제를 설계하였으며, 선행연구를 바탕으로 자료 표현 영역에 대한 통계적 소양 분석 기준을 마련하였다. 학생들의 통계적 소양을 단계별로 제시하여 발달 양상을 분석하는 것은 학생들의 현재 위치를 파악하여 더 높은 수준의 수행 양상에 도달하도록 도울 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 선행연구를 바탕으로 통계적 소양 수준 평가의 기준안을 명확히 하고, 각 수준 별 학생 반응을 자세히 분석하여 학교 통계 교육에서 자료 표현 지도에 대해 새로운 관점을 제시하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effects of Practical Problem-Based Home Economics Instruction (PPBHEI) on middle school students' creativity, focusing on the content on "clothing management and recycling." This study carried out quasi-experimental research with an independent variable of PPBHEI and a dependent variable of creativity. The experiment was based on a sample of 62 (31 in each group) second grade students in the Cheongju area over four class hours. ANCOVA was performed to examine pre-test and post-test differences between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that PPBHEI did not improve the level of creativity but improved the level of creative motivation among the sub-elements of creativity (creative thinking, creative tendency, creative motivation). In particular, PPBHEI improved the level of independence in creative tendency, intrinsic motivation, and diligence in creative motivation. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that PPBHEI is effective in improving independence, intrinsic motivation, and diligence in respect of middle school students'creativity.

상호작용적 웹활용교육에 관한 연구 (A Study on Interactive Web-based Instruction)

  • 웹은 여러 사람들이 상호작용적으로 학습할 수 있는 새로운 교수 학습방법들을 제공한다. 그러나 웹상에 존재하는 교육자료들은 상호작용을 충분하게 지원하지 못하며, 학습자의 수준별로 융통성 있게 학습을 지원하기가 어렵다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 웹을 활용하여 학습할 때 방향감을 상실하지 않고 수준별 학습이 가능하도록 상호작용성을 증진시킬 수 있는 에이전트 기술을 사용하여 웹활용교육 시스템을 제안한다.

  • 제시되는 개발 사례는 창의성 개발을 위한 스마트 교육 콘텐츠 개발내용으로서 학습자의 성향에 맞는 상호작용이 가능한 G-러닝 기반 교육교재 소프트웨어의 디자인 접근 및 개발내용을 제시하였다. 무엇보다도 게임의 특성인 상호작용을 극대화 할 수 있도록 디자인 접근방식에 초점을 두어 학습자의 성향에 따른 교육 수준 레벨별 몰입이 가능한 교육 콘텐츠를 개발한 것으로서 레벨 디자인 설계에 따른 난이도 기반 콘텐츠 구성이 가능한 콘텐츠이다. 또한, 시각적 측면에서 출현하는 오브젝트 및 캐릭터의 비주얼 커스터마이징(Customizing) 기능을 구현하여 학습자의 성향에 따라서 몰입할 수 있는 비주얼 환경을 설정하여 효과적인 교육이 가능하도록 구현한 사례이다.

초등학교 소프트웨어교육에서 교구와 학습자 수준에 따른 컴퓨팅사고력 향상도 비교 (Comparison of Computational Thinking Improvement Based on Teaching Aids and Student's Level in Elementary Software Education)

  • 소프트웨어교육의 중요성이 강조되면서, 초등학생의 컴퓨팅사고력 향상을 위한 다양한 교육이 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 선행연구들을 살펴보면 특정 환경이나 학습자만을 고려한 경우가 많아 학교현장에 적용하는 것에 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 교과서의 내용을 바탕으로 학습자에게 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인인 교구와 컴퓨팅 사고력에 대한 학습자 수준이라는 특성을 고려한 교수·학습활동을 구성하여 소프트웨어교육을 실시하고, 학습자들의 컴퓨팅사고력 향상도 비교를 통해 효과적인 소프트웨어교육 방법의 방향을 제안하였다. 연구결과 교구와 학습자 수준에 따라서 컴퓨팅사고력 향상에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났는데 구체적으로 활용 교구에 있어서는 비주얼 프로그래밍과 언플러그드 방식을 활용한 교수·학습활동이 보다 효과적이었으며 학습자 수준에 따라서는 사전검사에서 컴퓨팅사고력의 수준이 낮은 것으로 평가된 학생들이 상대적으로 높은 향상도를 보였다. 이러한 경향은 초등학교 소프트웨어교육에서 교수·학습활동을 구성함에 있어 다양한 학습요인을 고려할 필요성이 요구된다고 보인다.

반힐레 이론과 GSP를 활용한 중학교 기하영역에 관한 연구 - 8-나 단계의 사각형의 성질을 중심으로 - (A Study of the Syllabus Based on van Hiele Theory using GSP in Middle School Geometry - Focused on the 1st Grade Middle School Students -)

  • The purpose of the study is to devise syllabus in which traditional textbooks were rearranged by van Hiele Level theory and van Hiele instruction step 5 was applied to syllabus which used computer software, GSP especially in step 2 for students who studied properties and relations of the figure. Another purpose is to analyze the van Hiele Level distribution and find out how significant improvement syllabus based instruction could make compared with the traditional classes using textbooks. The results of the study revealed that more than half of the students were less than Level 1 in the comparative group but more than half of the students have reached Level 3 in the experimental group. And improvement of van Hiele Level was significant in syllabus based classes compared with traditional classes using textbooks by the Welch-Aspin tests and Chi-squared tests.

The Effectiveness of Team-based Case-based Learning Approach on the Learning Outcome: A Single Course Level in a University Setting

  • Background: Case-based learning (CBL) is becoming an important approach for improving interprofessional collaboration education. Previous studies have examined learners' satisfaction with interprofessional education (IPE) in medical institutions. However, there are few studies on the implementation of university-led CBL interventions and their direct effects on learning outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of CBL interventions on changes in the participants' perception and knowledge acquisition ability. Methods: The CBL approach consisted of team-based case-based learning, self-directed learning, and post-feedback. It was conducted as a single course for pharmacy students in their 5th year in a university setting. Changes in the participants' perceptions and self-assessments of competence levels were evaluated using survey responses. The effect of the CBL intervention on knowledge acquisition ability was directly evaluated using the exam score. Results: The majority agreed or strongly agreed that team-based case-based learning, and self-directed learning helped them to improve their knowledge and skills to a higher level and to increase the self-assessment of competency level. The average score of knowledge acquisition ability (average score of 75.0, p=0.0098) was significantly higher in the CBL intervention group than the lecture-based learning intervention group (average score of 52.0). Conclusion: The participants positively perceived that CBL intervention helped them to effectively improve their knowledge and the self-assessment of competency level. It also enhanced knowledge acquisition ability. These data, based on the survey responses, suggest that it is necessary to implement CBL interventions in a university-led single professional education.

한국공학교육인증원의 2020 비전 달성도 및 사회적 위상 분석 (A Study on the Analysis of the Vision Achievement and Social Status of the ABEEK)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate how well the 2020 vision presented by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea(ABEEK) had been achieved, and to objectively examine the social status. It was very necessary for the development of engineering education in Korea to provide room for improvement by diagnosing how well the ABEEK, one of the major engineering education communities, was achieving its own vision. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, research methods such as literature review, survey research, and expert advisory committee were used. To evaluate the level of achievement of the Vision 2020 of the ABEEK, the analysis was based on the response results of 61 people who had experience as a member of the steering committe. In addition, the vision and mission of the 23 countries that are currently signatory members of the Washington Accord were surveyed, and the social responsibility and financial independence of the 20 countries that joined the signatory member countries before 2020 were compared with each other. As a result of the analysis, the item of securing international equivalence in engineering education received the most positive evaluation, and the social compensation efforts for accreditied graduates received the least evaluation. The ABEEK was evaluated as having a medium level of social responsibility and a low level of financial independence. Based on the results of this research, we proposed ways the ABEEK to contribute to the improvement of Korean engineering education.
