A Study on the present and future trend of the new fabrics of apparel (의류용 섬유 신소재의 현재와 미래 동향에 관한 연구)

  • This study classified the new fabrics of apparel Which was published in the domestic magazines newspapers since late nineteen-nineties and analyzed the characteristics of each new fabrics. We propose the recent trend of the development of new fabrics and therefore, predict the new fabric trend of the future. The new fabrics of apparel were classified as, 1. Sanitation and health promoting new fabric. 2. Aesthetic promoting new ones. 3. High functional new ones. 4. Natural fabric oriented new ones. 5. Pro-environmental new ones. The developmental trend of future new fabrics were predicted as followings 1. The pursuit of development of Pro-environmental textile materials 2. The pursuit of development of health enhancing textile materials 3. The pursuit of development of easy-controlling textile materials 4. The pursuit of development of long lasting-comfortable textile materials 5. The pursuit of development of high-aesthetic textile materials 6. The pursuit of development of textile materials Which have the advantages of the natural fabrics Conclusively, the new fabrics of apparel will be developed as the one which has above complicated multi-function and chaotic ability to fitting to environmental change.

Characteristics of Korean Export Clothing Articles to Each Important Market (한국 수출의류제품의 주요 수출시장별 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of export clothing articles in Korea. For the purpose, the proportion and unit price of each export clothing articles were analyzed to each important market. The results of the study were as follows : First, on the proportional aspect, to all world market, SITC 845(Articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, n.e.5.), 842(Women's clothing, of textile font knittedabrics), and 841 (Men's clothing of textile fabrics, not knitted), 844(Women's clothing, of textile, knitted or crocheted) and 846(Clothing accessories, of textile fabrics), 848(Articles of apparel, clothing access., excluding textile), 843(Men's or boy's clothing, of textile, knitted, crocheted.) in order were in large exported, after the mid-1990's. To each important market, the proportion of export clothing articles was varied. Second, on the unit price aspect, to all world market, the unit price of export clothing articles went down slightly. For each item, 844(Women's clothing, of textile, knitted or crocheted) went up a little, 843(Men's or boy's clothing, of textile, knitted, croche.) and 845(Articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, n.e.s.) went down a little, 841(Men's clothing of textile fabrics, not knitted), 842(Women's clothing, of textile fabrics), 846(Clothing accessories, of textile fabrics) and 848(Articles of apparel, clothing access., excluding textile) went down greatly. The unit price to industrialized countries, newly industrializing countries, developing countries in order was high, reflecting the developing stage of each nation's.

Development of Low Fabric Density and Ultra-Light Polyester/Cotton Blended Fabrics (저밀도/초경량의 스트레치성 Polyester/Cotton교직물 개발)

  • In this the study, polyester/cotton(P/C) blended fabrics with fine denier were developed to get the light weight compared with the traditional P/C blended fabrics. Moreover, the width of the fabrics was extended by the tenter during the final heat treatment to get the lower fabric density and lighter weight. Then, the physical properties of these fabrics were analysed. The results were as the follows: The developed fabrics had 22.6-31.6% lighter weight than the traditional fabrics with the same fabric width. The weight of fabric decreased drastically with the fabrics width down to 67.1 $g/m^2$. The fabric density for the warp direction decreased with the fabric width. The tenacity and the elongation of the developed fabrics was little lower than that of the traditional fabrics. The air permeability of the developed fabrics increased with that of the traditional fabrics. The stretch rate of the developed fabrics decreased with increasing the fabric width. Residual stretch rate of the developed fabrics was more stable than that of the traditional fabrics. Residual stretch rate of the developed fabrics increased with the fabric width, but the highest value was less than 5% which is quit stable.

A Study on the Bleaching of Cotton Fabrics by utilizing Ozone(($O_{3}$) (오존($O_{3}$)을 이용한 면직물의 표백에 관한 연구)

  • In order to study the bleaching of cotton fabrics, ozone which has been produced by an ozone generator, has been contacted with cotton fabrics in water at various conditions. The equipments used for the ozone treatment of cotton fabrics were the ozone generator and a liquor/ozone contactor. For the examination of the ozone bleaching effect on cotton fabrics the whiteness, tensile strength, wettability and clark softness of the ozone treated cotton fabrics were measured. The conclusion obtained were, ozone concentration was increased, as the voltage was increased and flow rate was decreased and oxygen amount was increased. Bleaching effect of treated fabrics increased with increasing attributed more the net concentration of ozone rather than the total ozone amount of produced. The whiteness of treated fabrics was found to be best when treating temperature was 15~20<$^{\circ}C$, in acidic condition. The tensile strength of treated fabrics decreased as the treating time increased, and as the temperature raised, and the acidity increased. The wicking distance of treated fabrics increased slightly with increasing the treating time and the temperature. Clark softness of treated fabrics was not changed until passing 30min. of the treating time, then it decreasing linealy with increasing the treating time.

  • In order to study the modification of wettability, tactility, and bathochromicity of the poly (ethylene Terephthalate) (PET) fabrics, low-temperature plasma$(O_2)$ has been irradiated on the PET fabrics in various conditions. The results obtained from this study were as follows; 1) The weight loss rate of plasma-treated PET fabrics is proportional to irradiation time and internal gas temperature of treating chamber. Also, the effect of weight loss is remarkable at gas pressure ranging from 3 torr to 5 torr. 2) The bathochromic effect of PET fabrics treated with low-temperature plasma$(O_2)$ was improved.

  • In order to study on the surface modification of the poly(ethylene Terephthalate)(PET) fabrics, low temperature plasma$(O_2)$ has been irradiated on the PET fabrics in various conditions. Experiments were carried out at pressure ranging from 0.5 tort to 3 tort. The properties of PET fabrics treated with low temperature plasma($(O_2)$, such as bathochromic, wettability, antistatic property were measured. Etching ratio was increased as the pressure and the output of discharge increased. When its were put on the cathode, the most efficient effect of etching according to the position of sample between anode and cathode was obtained. The bathochromic effect has more or less improved as pressure was getting higth in case of dyed fabrics treated with only low temperature plasma$(O_2)$ . And when it was treated with the low refractive index resin, the bathochromic of dyed fabrics treated with low temperature plasma$(O_2)$ was better than that of the dyed fabrics untreated.

  • The study was conducted to find out suitable flame proofing on silk fabrics and to examine closely the flame retardancy effect and the physical properties changes of the silk, which was dyed by natural dyes and synthetic dyes, treated with agent (Diphenylbutylamidophosphate (DPBAP)). The results of the study were as follows: 1) Silk could be treated with DPBAP easily soluble in water by means of simple Pad-Dry-Cure. 2) The add-on of silk fabrics dyed by natural dyes was more than that of silk fabrics dyed by synthetic dyes. 3) The silk fabrics dyed by india ink among natural dyes has more flame retardancy effect in before treating with flame proofing agent than in after treating with it. 4) The physical properties (stiffness and tensile strength) of the silk fabrics treated with flame retardancy agent were little changed.

  • This paper is concern with the effect of various conditions on mechanical properties of textile fabrics by water soluble resin treatment. Resin treatment of cotton, acetate, viscose rayon, polyester, nylon and acryl fabrics were made by aqueous resin treatment to improve the mechanical properties. The mechanical properties of fabrics, the breaking strength and strain were measured and surface reflectance was measured by color eye. The breaking strength and surface reflectance of fabrics by water soluble resin treatment showed difference by the different treatment concentration. The surface reflectance was increased by water soluble resin treatment. The breaking strength was lower in fabrics with resin treatment than fabrics with none treatment.

  • In order to introduce new functions onto textile fabrics, nylon and cotton were treated with green tea extracts. And then the anti-oxidant activity of fabrics treated with the extracts was evaluated by Blois method using DPPH ($\alpha$, $\alpha$-diphenyl- $\beta$-picrylhydrazyl). The anti-oxidant activity was exhibited on the textile fabrics treated as well as by the extracts itself. The cotton fabric treated with 10% o.w.f. of extract appeared to have almost 90% of anti-oxidant activity and 95% was obtained for nylon.

  • The aim of this study is to enhance the abrasion of the hydrolyzed polyethylene terephthalate(PET) fabrics by using microwave energy. In other to achieve the aforementioned objectives, PET fabrics were hydrolyzed in NaOH solution by using abrasion method such as dipping, microwave-dipping, pad steam-dry, and pad microwave-dry, and then abrasion of the hydrolyzed PET fabrics was calculated and investigated. As a result obtained form this study, the abrasion of the hydrolyzed PET fabrics is directly proportional to hydrolyzed time and NaOH concentration. And also, microwave-dipping method and pad microwave-dry method showed remarkable abrasion effect than the others.
