A Study on Enhancement of Thermoelectric Cooling System Performance by Piezoelectric Actuator (압전 액츄에이터를 이용한 열전냉각 시스템 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • The thermoelectric cooling system consisted of the thermoelectric module, a heat sink and a cooling fan, respectively. Also, the piezoelectric actuator was applied to improve the performance of thermoelectric cooling system and investigate the heat transfer phenomenon. The temperature distribution of test section was measured to investigate cooling characteristics of thermoelectric cooling system. The flow phenomenon of test section was visualized using visualization device. When the piezoelectric actuator was applied to the heat transfer process of thermoelectric cooling system, acoustic streaming was occurred in test section. The acoustic streaming was occurred forced convection flow, and was regularly formed the temperature distribution in test section. The results clearly show that the acoustic streaming is one of the prime effects to enhance the convection heat transfer and can enhance the performance of thermoelectric cooling system.

  • The environment of Ubiquitous in terms of improvement is being expanded to various fields and time enabled system. Thus, a real-time spatial information management system has been developed by integrating a human movement detection system into a SICS(Spatial Information Control System) engine that can integrally manage inside spatial information extracted from 3D CAD and outside spatial information of GIS. The add-on program was developed to extract spatial information necessary for the SICS engine from 3D CAD information, and a human movement detection system was developed. Test bed was operated for 2weeks and indoor human flow information was found out by zone. Also, the direction of future research was decided through a test bed.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide a model for effective implementation of costing RAM management in the design and procurement of production facility considering the system cost-performance trade-off. This research proposes a two-step approach of costing RAM design and test of system RAM for production facility. In Step 1, a static model is proposed to find an initial system configuration to meet the required performance based on system RAM and LCC and analyzes the trade-off relationships between various factors of RAM and LCC. In the second Step, we developed time and failure truncated models for system reliability test and analysis. For the computational purpose, we developed computer programs and have shown the sample results. By the sample test run, the proposed model has shown the possibilities to provide a good method to analyze system performance evaluation for both design and operational phase, This model can be applied to a wide variety of systems not only for costing RAM of the production facilities but also for the other kinds of equipment.

  • Purpose: This article provides an efficient cushion molding method for improving reliability of the rotation driving system. Method: Allowable stress level for cushion is calculated by using physical characteristics of the rotation driving system. In addition, various test units are manufactured and used to conduct the rebound resilience, the burst pressure and the alternating load test. Results: Actual allowable stress level and test results of the rebound resilience, the burst pressure and the alternating load test are provided. Conclusion: The cushion manufactured by the compression molding method gives more preferable characteristics for improving the reliability of the rotation driving system.

  • The standard power system model is needed to test a transmission line protective relay There are two methods to develop a power system model for transmission line protection. First method is based on characteristic power system model, and second method is based on functional power system model. This paper presents a standard power system model for performance test of transmission line protective relay, where the power system model is based on the two methods. And this model is simulated by using RTDS to test a protective relay.

  • The vibration test system of SITC(Satellite Integration and Test Center) at KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has been used successfully for the environmental tests of a majority of korean space programs, such as KOMPSAT, Koreasat KITSAT, STSAT and KSR program since 1996. To meet the recent needs of large size test facility available for the vibrational tests of the huge launch vehicles and tole-communication satellites which will be developed in the near future, KARI undertook to construct the large size multi-electromagnetic shaking system with 3 $\times$ 3m head expander system. The new system will consist of three electromagnetic shakers which has 160 kN thrust force individually, and be able te sustain up to 8 tons test load and 300 kNm overturing moment. And to avoid the tremendous cost and effort to furnish the seismic block with large size and weight, it will adopt a Lin-E-Air type configuration with which the seismic block is less severe than a Solid-Truninon type. In addition, to fulfill the strong requirement of high overturning moment the additional guidance system including a central bearing system on a central support and several pad bearings around the head expander body is now considered. This paper describes the configuration and the design parameters of the multi-shaking system which is under development by KARI's engineers.

  • Fuel assembly's mechanical characterization test facility (FAMeCT) in KAERI was constructed with upgraded functional features such as increased loading capacity, underwater vibration testing and severe earthquake simulation for extended fuel design guideline. This facility is designed and developed to provide out-pile fuel data for accident analysis model and fuel licensing. Functional tests of FAMeCT were performed to confirm functionality, structural integrity, and validity of newly-built fuel assembly mechanical test facility. Test program includes signal check of data acquisition system, load delivering capacity using real-sized fuel assemblies and a standard loading cylindrical rigid specimen. Fuel assembly's lateral bending test was carried out up to 30 mm of pull-out displacement. Limit case axial compression loading test up to 33 kN was performed to check structural integrity of UCPS (Upper Core Plate Simulator) support frame. Test results show that all test equipment and measurement system have acceptable range of alignment, signal to noise ratio, load carrying capacity limit without loss of integrity. This paper introduces newly constructed fuel assembly's mechanical test facility and summarizes results of functional test for the mechanical test equipment and data acquisition system.
