  • In this paper, we show the weak convergence of U-empirical processes for two sample problem. We use the result to show the asymptotic normality for the generalized dodges-Lehmann estimates with the Bahadur representation for quantifies of U-empirical distributions. Also we consider the asymptotic normality for the test statistics in a simple way.

  • This paper presents estimations of the generalized Rayleigh distribution model based on grouped and censored data. The maximum likelihood method is used to derive point and asymptotic confidence estimates of the unknown parameters. The results obtained in this paper generalize some of those available in the literature. Finally, we test whether the current model fits a set of real data better than other models.

  • Water absorption in water-cooled generator stator windings can cause serious accidents such as insulation breakdown and it brings a generator to the unexpected sudden outage. Accordingly, it is important to diagnose the water absorption of them in the effective operation of power plant. Especially, the capacitance value which is measured for diagnosis is very small so the special diagnosis methods like stochastic theory are needed. KEPRI developed the water absorption test equipment and diagnosis technology for them. In this paper we propose that water absorption test of generator stator windings using probability distributions. The proposed diagnosis technology is applied to the real system and the results of water absorption test for stator windings are agreed to them of water leak test.

  • It is often possible to test for differences in population means when two or more samples are extracted from each N population. However, it is not possible to test for the mean difference if one sample is extracted from each population since a sample mean does not exist. But, by dividing a group of samples extracted one by one into two groups and generating a sample mean, we can identify a heterogeneity that may exist within the group by comparing the differences of the groups' mean. Therefore, we propose a minimum combination t-test method that can test the mean difference by the number of combinations that can be divided into two groups. In this paper, we proposed a method to test differences between means to check heterogeneity in a group of extracted samples. We verified the performance of the method by simulation study and obtained the results through real data analysis.

  • Understanding the tumor heterogeneity due to differences in the growth pattern of metastatic tumors and rate of change is important for understanding the sensitivity of tumor cells to drugs and finding appropriate therapies. It is often possible to test for differences in population means using t-test or ANOVA when the group of N samples is distinct. However, these statistical methods can not be used unless the groups are distinguished as the data covered in this paper. Statistical methods have been studied to test heterogeneity between samples. The minimum combination t-test method is one of them. In this paper, we propose a maximum combinatorial t-test method that takes into account combinations that bisect data at different ratios. Also we propose a method based on the idea that examining the heterogeneity of a sample is equivalent to testing whether the number of optimal clusters is one in the cluster analysis. We verified that the proposed methods, maximum combination t-test method and gap statistic, have better type-I error and power than the previously proposed method based on simulation study and obtained the results through real data analysis.

  • In this paper, we derive the estimators of the location parameter and the scale parameter in a logistic distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples by the approximate maximum likelihood estimation method. We use four modified empirical distribution function (EDF) types test for the logistic distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples using proposed approximate maximum likelihood estimators. We also propose the modified normalized sample Lorenz curve plot for the logistic distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples. For each test, Monte Carlo techniques are used to generate the critical values. The powers of these tests are also investigated under several alternative distributions.

  • In this paper, I introduce the goodness-of-fit test statistics for exponential distribution using accelerated life test data. The ALT lifetime data were obtained by assuming step-stress ALT model, specially TRV model introduced by DeGroot and Goel(1979). The critical values are obtained for proposed test statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Kuiper, Watson, Cramer-von Mises, Anderson-Darling type, under various sample sizes and significance levels. The powers of the five test statistic are compared through Monte-Cairo simulation technique.

  • The main reason for deinterlacing is frame-rate conversion. The other reason for deinterlacing is of course improve clarity and reduce flicker. Using a deinterlacer can help clarity and stability of the image. Many deinterlacing algorithms are available in image processing literatures such as ELA and E-ELA. This paper propose a new statistical deinterlacing algorithm based on statistical tests such as the Bartlett test, the Levene test and the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results obtained from the proposed algorithms are found to be comparable to those from many well-known deinterlacers. However, the results in the proposed deinterlacers are found to be more efficient than other deinterlacers.

  • A Bayesian criterion is proposed for a multiple test of two independent multivariate normal populations. For a Bayesian test the fractional Bayes facto.(FBF) of O'Hagan(1995) is used under the assumption of Jeffreys priors, noninformative improper proirs. In this test the FBF without the need of sampling minimal training samples is much simpler to use than the intrinsic Bayes facotr(IBF) of Berger and Pericchi(1996). Finally, a simulation study is performed to show the behaviors of the FBF.

  • This paper suggests a new criterion for testing the general linear hypothesis about coefficients in multivariate growth curve model. It is developed from a Bayesian point of view using the highest posterior density region methodology. Likelihood ratio test criterion(LRTC) by Khatri(1966) results as an approximate special case. It is shown that under the simple case of vague prior distribution for the multivariate normal parameters a LRTC-like criterion results; but the degrees of freedom are lower, so the suggested test criterion yields more conservative test than is warranted by the classical LRTC, a result analogous to that of Berger and Sellke(1987). Moreover, more general(non-vague) prior distributions will generate a richer class of tests than were previously available.
