한국 시스템다이내믹스 연구경향분석 : 7년의 성과와 반성, 그리고 제안 (Analysis on Research Trends of Korean System Dynamics : Results and Reflections of 7 Years and Proposals)

  • This paper executes positive analysis about the thesis of 100 volumes which were published for 2000-2006 years through 'Korean System Dynamics Journal', to grope and to see the academic developments of Korean System Dynamics. The summarized analysis results are same as follows. First, Korean System Dynamics researches appear that quantitative researches are much more than qualitative ones. Second, the researches that aimed to solve problem are relatively much more than theory-oriented ones. Third, System Dynamics researches in the department of social science are more abundant than that of science and engineering. Based on these results, for establishing of Korean System Dynamics identity, we will work hard to study qualitative researches, increase the research domains and elevate the academic statue of System Dynamics.

  • The cost-benefit analysis is a technique for assisting with decision about the use of society's scare resources. There exists no detailed assessment like cost-benefit analysis. But recently, many policy analysts criticized the merit of cost-benefit analysis. As it is, it can be said that partial or approximate estimates of benefit and cost may be more dangerous than helpful. The purpose of this study is to overcome the limit of traditional cost-benefit analysis. For this purpose, we use the system dynamics approach for setting up new cost-benefit analysis, which we named that ‘Dynamics Cost-Benefit Analysis'. The usefulness of ‘Dynamics Cost-Benefit Analysis' is as follows; finding structural causal relationship between cost factors and benefit factors, understanding the long-term behavior of systems economic feasibility. In this study, we apply 'Dynamic Cost-Benefit Analysis' to case that is construction investment of funeral house by local government sector.

  • When one is interested in the dynamics of a mechanical system with electric motors, the force generated by the motor is generally considered as only an applied torque or force independent of mechanical state variables such as velocity. For a system operated in non-steady dynamic conditions, however, the usual analysis approach may fail to predict some characteristics in the dynamic behaviors because of electromechanical coupling effects. In this paper, we propose dynamics analysis model in which dc motor dynamics with the electromechanical coupling effects are embedded to mechanical dynamics models. The do motor is modeled based on its equivalent circuit model and included in the dynamics solving algorithm which we developed before, called generalized recursive dynamics formula. The developed dynamic analysis model is effective and realistic for analysis of electromechanical dynamics of a system with do motors. The developed model is evaluated by constructing and simulating the flexible antennas of an artificial satellite driven by do motors.

시스템 시뮬레이션을 통한 원자재 가격 및 운송 운임 모델 (A System Dynamics Model for Basic Material Price and Fare Analysis and Forecasting)

  • We try to use system dynamics to forecast the demand/supply and price, also transportation fare for iron ore. Iron ore is very important mineral resource for industrial production. The structure for this system dynamics shows non-linear pattern and we anticipated the system dynamic method will catch this non-linear reality better than the regression analysis. Our model is calibrated and tested for the past 6 year monthly data (2003-2008) and used for next 6 year monthly data(2008-2013) forecasting. The test results show that our system dynamics approach fits the real data with higher accuracy than the regression one. And we have run the simulations for scenarios made by possible future changes in demand or supply and fare related variables. This simulations imply some meaningful price and fare change patterns.

다단계 공급체인에서의 장비운용가용도 시뮬레이션 분석 (An Operational Availability Analysis in Supply Chain Using Simulation)

  • This study shows the operational availability(Ao) analysis of the supply chain with maintenance functions using the system dynamics simulation. The simulation uses 60 equipments which are serial systems composed by 4 major components. And every entities are connected each other by causal loops. So whole simulation executed like one organic system. Specially we consider 2 constraints, one is the number of spare parts and the other is maintenance capacity level. 2 constraints have 11 levels each so the simulation has 121(11*11) scenarios which scenario has 30 different random number seed. The simulation executed total 3,630(11*11*30) times. We analysis average Ao of total equipments by 121 scenarios and additionally the regression of the average Ao and 2 constraints. As the result, we can get the more accurate values by the system dynamics simulation than the regression to analysis complex system like the supply chain with maintenance functions.

  • This study examines the basic conditions of joint authorship research activities in the Korean System Dynamics Review and points out the structural co-author network characteristics among co-authored papers based on the social network analysis(SNA) techniques. In specific, this study identifies the cooperative relationship of research papers in the Korean System Dynamics Review, knowledge formation, and knowledge propagation paths. The study results imply that Korean System Dynamics Review has exhibited the typical 'Steven's power law,' which is repeatedly observed among complex systems, and that knowledge structure centered upon and propagated around couples of researchers. Additionally, the study results present that there have been active personal exchanges among major researchers. In contrast, personal contacts among research groups and within groups seem relatively weak.

  • The dynamics of train has recently been analysed in many cases and very complex nonlinear creep theories have been developed by many engineers. But much calculation time is spent and latest complex creep theories cannot be adapted in train analysis. In this study efficient and fast train analysis method was suggested. Many of degree of freedom were reduced in multi-vehicle system using equivalent system and fast calculation time was achieved. And the accuracy of equivalent system method was proved by linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis.

  • The purpose of this study is to explain the impact of hosting mega event using the system dynamics and to establish the model for analysis of the impact of hosting mega event. The results are as follows. First, the growth of inbound tourists have influenced long term effect. Second, the export has increased for a limited period only after the hosting mega event, but the increase in export returned to the previous state in terms of economic impact of mega event. Third, nation brand has been improved for a limited period only such as the economical impact in terms of socio-cultural impact of mega event. Last, citizenship consciousness has been improved after hosting mega event. Further researches have to be carried out to modify and reinforce the model.

병원 코디네이터도입이 병원경영성과에 미치는 영향분석 (Study on the Role of Hospital Coordinators with System Dynamics Approach)

  • The competition between hospitals has become an issue for many hospitals because of the sudden increased number of health providers. As the marketing or customer management have become important factors as means of competition, a number of hospital have been considered or already adopted the coordination system. A system dynamics model is developed to see the effect of the hospital coordination system. This paper after briefly explaining the structure of the system dynamics model, discusses the roles of the hospital coordination system with examples. The system dynamics model quantifies through simulations the process of effects of coordination system on the number of customers, productivities of employees (nurses and doctors), and finally the financial status. As a conclusions of the simulations and their analysis, it is concluded that coordination system could be more effective than the investment to the facilities. Since the study is based on only one hospital case, it is limited. However, it explains the mechanism of the coordination system quantitatively as well as qualitatively.
