For the performance-efficient integration of IPs on an SoC utilizing heterochronous multi-clock domains, we propose a synchronization scheme that causes low latency overhead when data are crossing clock boundaries. The proposed synchronization scheme is composed of a clock predictor and a synchronizer. The clock predictor of a sender clock domain produces a predicted clock that is used in a receiver clock domain to detect possible synchronization failures in advance. When the possible synchronization failures are detected, a synchronizer at the receiver delays data-capture times to avoid the possible synchronization failures. From the simulation of the proposed scheme through SPICE modeling using a Chartered $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, we verified the functionalities and timing behavior of the clock predictor and the synchronizer. The simulation results show that the clock predictor produces a predicted clock before a synchronization failure, and the synchronizer samples data correctly using the predicted clock.
Auto-synchonizer is important device to match the voltage, frequency, phase of the generating system to those factors of the transmission line, when the synchronous generator is operated. There were few or no incidents by Synchronization failure at Hapcheon hydraulic power plant, since it was built in 1989. but incidents by Synchronization failure have often happend lately. From now, let's improve the efficiency on the maintenance of generating equipment by studying about the cause and the method for this problem by comparing with the set point of each device of synchronizing system.

It is very import role to increase communication quality that fast detection of random sequence synchronization fail in synchronous stream cipher system using initial synchronization mode. Generally it sends additional information to detect random sequency synchronization fail. But we can't transmit additional informations to decide synchronization fail in a system using RMVD to correct channel error. In this paper we propose a method to detect synchronization fail in the receiver even though a system using RMVD has no margin to send additional information, For detecting random sequency synchronization fail we decipher receiver data analyze probability of transition rate for pre-determined period and decide synchronization fail using calculated transition rate probability. This proposed method is fast very reliable and robust in noisy channel and is easily implemented with hardware.

The issue of safety insurance in PES(Programmable Electronic Systems) has been provoked because PES is difficult to define failure modes which are appeared in many different ways. But the PES applications extend rapidly in various areas. One of the solutions for PES safety insurance is voting which PES is used by comparing the outputs of several PES. The time synchronization of the PES is necessary for this reliable voting. The voting must be carried out with the outputs from same time inputs. There are several methods for time synchronization of the PES. In this paper, we discussed two modes of the time synchronization which are mutual synchronization of several PES and using UTC(Universal Time Clock).

This paper proposed PTP(Precision Time Protocol) management node-based time synchronization error detection and recovery system. The proposed system is to maintain the preciseness of time synchronization under time synchronization error situations on IEEE 1588-based network environment. To demonstrate the proposed time synchronization error detection and recovery system, PTP implemented EVM(Evaluation Module)-based experiments were performed. As a results of the experiments, it is shown that the proposed system effectively maintains the preciseness of time synchronization under time synchronization error situations.

A flight control computer(FLCC) applied to an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) is a safety-critical item, and which is designed in a multiple structure to increase the reliability of operation by securing fault tolerance. These FLCC of multiple structure should be designed so that each independent processing/control components can perform the same operation at the same time. And for this reason, a synchronization algorithm for synchronizing the operation between FLCCs should be included in an operational flight program. In this paper, we propose a software design method for synchronization between dual FLCCs applied to UAVs. The proposed synchronization method is designed to synchronize using only the minimum hardware resources to reduce a failure rate. In addition, the proposed synchronization method is designed to minimized synchronization errors due to a timer operation by designing in consideration of operation characteristics of the hardware timer used for the synchronization.
We present the frame synchronization scheme using the FFT window position restoration algorithm appropriate for wireless OFDM systems under multipath fading environment. From the restoration of the synchronization parameters of previous several frames, the algorithm can extract the synchronization parameters for the next frames. To analyze the performance of the proposed algorithm, we compare the probability of synchronization failure under time and frequency domains, respectively. From the simulation results, one can see that the algorithm in the time domain shows better performance than in the frequency one, for the $E_b/N_o$ of 6.0dB or more.

Power grid techniques are distributed over general power systems ranging from power stations to power transmission, power distribution, and users. To monitor and control the elements and performance of a power system in real time in the extensive area of power generation, power transmission, wide-area monitoring (WAM) and control techniques are required (Sattinger et al. 2007). Also, to efficiently operate a power grid, integrated techniques of information and communication technology are required for the application of communication network and relevant equipment, computing, and system control software. WAM should make a precise power grid measurement of more than once per cycle by time synchronization using GPS. By collecting the measurement values of a power grid from substations located at faraway regions through remote communication, the current status of the entire power grid system can be examined. However, for GPS that is used in general national industries, unexpected dangerous situations have occurred due to its deterioration and jamming. Currently, the power grid is based on a synchronization system using GPS. Thus, interruption of the time synchronization system of the power system due to the failure or abnormal condition of GPS would have enormous effects on each field such as economy, security, and the lives of the public due to the destruction of the synchronization system of the national power grid. Developed countries have an emergency substitute system in preparation for this abnormal situation of GPS. Therefore, in Korea, a system that is used to prepare for the interruption of GPS reception should also be established on a long-term basis; but prior to this, it is required that an evaluation technique for the time synchronization performance of a GPS receiver using an atomic clock within the power grid. In this study, a monitoring system of time synchronization based on GPS at a power grid was implemented, and the results were presented.

Mobile client-Server synchronization system supporting for field updating of spatio-temporal data could be interrupted incompletely as it has some failure of client-server system and network during synchronizing work. Thus the interruption of synchronizing could make some problem with not progressing normal synchronizing work while re-performing for the consistent error of client-server system and synchronization. This study analyzes defects that are generated at the mobile client-server environment and proposes recovery techniques which can rerun consistence of DB and synchronization.

In this paper, we proposed an algorithm to solve the problem that can't maintain hop synchronization using only early-late gate tracking loop due to the drift of geo-stationary satellite in frequency hopping satellite communication system. When the signal is transferred to downlink through DRT(Dehop-Rebop Transponder), the problem with synchronization loss is occurred periodically when using only early-late gate tracking loop, because of energy loss in each side portion of hop due to orbital variation of the satellite. To solve this problem, we have developed Anti-Shrink synchronization tracking algorithm which uses the prediction value of transmission timing and the structure of inner-outer gate instead of early-late gate with the ranging information. Through simulations, we showed that the performance of the Anti-Shrink algorithm is better than that of simple inner-outer energy ratio algorithm and similar to that of conventional early-late tracking loop algorithm with ranging information. No synchronization failure in the proposed algorithm was occurred because of less energy loss and robustness without the ranging information.
