ECOLOGICAL STUDY OF AROMATIC TOBACCO IN KOREA AND GREECE I. ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS AND AGRONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS (향끽미종 연초의 한국, 그리이스간 생태 비교 연구 (I) 재배환경 및 생육특성)

  • KA 101 and Xanthi-Basma were cultivated in Korea and Greece to compare the respective responses to environment and cultivation method on their growth characteristics and some properties of harvested leaves during 1984 and 1985. The contents of clay, calcium, organic matter and pH were higher in the soil of greece than that of Korea. Sunshine hours and precipitation in Greece during harvest and curing season were 8.6 hours per day and 53.3mm compared to that of 3.8 hours per day and 320mm in Korea, respectively. The plant height, leaf size and yield decreased, and days to flower was shorter 8-11 days in greek grown plants. The dehydration and curing process in Greece was linear and rapid due to the constant daily change of temperature and relative humidity with dry weather during curing season during curing season. But those process in Korea was variable and tardy due to rainy weather. Cured leaf ratio increased with upper stalk leaves in Greece but it was rather lower at top stalk position in Korea. The harvested green leaf cultivated in Greece showed higher contents of petroleum ether extract, total nitrogen and nicotine, but lower contents of reducing sugar and lower ratio of protein nitrogen to total nitrogen than in Korea.

A Meteorological Analysis on High Rice Yield in 2015 in South Korea (2015년 쌀풍년 발생 조건에 대한 기상학적 분석)

  • Rice yield of South Korea in 2015 was the highest in last 30 years. The future direction of food policy in South Korea can be determined depending on whether the historically highest yield in 2015 can be continued or just one-off event. Therefore, it is necessary to understand whether such a high yield as 2015 can be reoccurred and how often it can occur. This study used the yield monitoring data from National Institute of Crop Science, Rural Development Administration and the meteorological data provided by Korea Meteorological Administration to identify the weather conditions, which could cause high yield, and how often these conditions occurred in the past. Our results showed that significantly high yield in 2015 could occur only when the mean sunshine hours of July and the mean sunshine hours from the end of August to early September are 5.1 hours and 6 hours, respectively. The probability of satisfying these weather conditions was 8/35 (23%) over the past 35 years. And the probability of successive high yield for two years was 1/35 (2.9%). The probability of recurrence of high yield within the next 5 years or 10 years after high yield was 4/35 (11.4%).

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate meteorological factors' effects on clothing sales based on empirical data from a leading apparel company. The daily sales data were aggregated from "A" company's store records for the Fall/Winter season from 2012 to 2015. Daily weather data corresponding to sales volume data were collected from the Korea Meteorological Administration. The weekend effect and meteorological factors including temperature, wind, humidity, rainfall, fine dust, sea level pressure, and sunshine hours were selected as independent variables to calculate their effects on A company's apparel sales volume. The analysis used a SAS program including correlation analysis, t-test, and multiple-regression analysis. The study results were: First, the weekend effect was the most influential factor affecting sales volume, followed by fine dust and temperature. Second, there were significant differences in the independent variables'effects on sales volume according to the garments' classification. Third, temperature significantly affected outer garments'sales volume, while top garments' sales volume was not influenced significantly. Fourth, humidity, sea level pressure and sunshine affected sales volume partly according to the garments' item. This study can provide proof of significant relationships between meteorological factors and the sales volume of garments, which will serve well to establish better inventory strategies.

Evaluation of Physicochemical Properties of Burley Leaf Tobacco during $2000{\sim}2004$ Crop Years at Various Growing Areas (생산 연도 및 지역별 버어리종 잎담배의 이화학성 평가)

  • To get the informations of burley leaf, the chemical constituents, quality indices, leaf color and the effects of climatic factors on the physicochemical properties of leaf produced from 2000 to 2004 crop years at 6 growing areas were analysed. The average leaf chemical contents for 5 years were as follows ; nicotine 2.87%, total nitrogen 4.55%, and chlorine 0.57%. The nicotine content was low while total nitrogen was slightly high as compared with recommended contents(nicotine ; $3.0{\sim}3.5%$, total nitrogen; $4.0{\sim}4.5%$). The variations of physicochemical properties among crop years were high while those of growing areas were relatively low. The nicotine contents of upper leaves were positively correlated to the sunshine hours in June and negatively correlated to the rainfalls in June and July according to crop years. However the total nitrogen content of upper leaves were positively correlated to the rainfalls in July according to growing areas. The tan-tended colored leaves were produced under the high air temperature, drought and long sunshine weather condition while the buff-tended colored leaves were produced under the contra교 condition according to crop years. It is considered that the increasing of nicotine content of Lugs may be available to decrease the nitrogen number(nitrogen/nicotine ratio) of leaf tobacco.

A Study on the Alternative Method for Weathering Test of Military Coated Fabrics (군용 도포직물의 내후성시험 대체에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: We would like to find the alternative method for the weathering test on rubber coated fabrics and adhesive-coated fabrics for the military products, KS M 0706 (Sunshine carbon arc) to KS M ISO 4892-2 (Xenon arc). Methods: We measured the tensile strength of adhesive-coated fabrics and adhesive products treated with sunshine carbon arc and xenon arc during 100, 150 and 200 hours, respectively. All of the results were treated with statistical test, ANOVA method. We also validate the surface modifications caused by treatment method and time by using FT-IR ATR and, SEM. Results: In case of the thick adhesive-coated fabrics (app. 1 mm), there was no distinctive difference on tensile strength by treatment method and time. In case of the thin mask hood (app. 0.22 mm) and TENT (app. 0.5 mm), there was distinctive difference on tensile strength. Especially, carbon arc showed a huge lowering properties. We could validate the curing from light and moisture, and the functional group change from cross-linking and oxidation using FT-IR ATR. In case of IBS, there was a surface cracks on SEM images. In case of mask hood, there was no distinctive differences, except for a particle falling from decreased affinity between rubber and particles caused by carbon arc. Conclusion: We concluded that there was no problems for changing xenon arc weathering test with same treatment time on IBS, KM7, K21 and adhesive products. In case of TENT and mask hood, there was a difference in tensile strength in accordance with the change of the treated time and method.

To manage effectively solar energy to power system, it is essential part In this paper, we develop the PV power prediction algorithm using adaptive neuro-fuzzy model considering various input factors such as temperature, solar irradiance, sunshine hours, and cloudiness. To evaluate performance of the proposed model according to input factors, we performed various experiments by using real data.

  • Estimation of daily and seasonal evaportranspiration is essential for water resource planning irrigation feasibility study, and real-time irrigation water management . This paper is to evaluate the applicability of neural networks to the estimation of evapotranspiration . A neural network was developed to forecast daily evapotranspiration of the rice crop. It is a three-layer network with input, hidden , and output layers. Back-propagation algorithm with delta learning rule was used to train the neural network. Training neural network wasconducted usign daily actural evapotranspiration of rice crop and daily climatic data such as mean temperature, sunshine hours, solar radiation, relative humidity , and pan evaporation . During the training, neural network parameters were calibrated. The trained network was applied to a set of field data not used in the training . The created response of the neural network was in good agreement with desired values. Evaluating the neural networ performance indicates that neural network may be applied to the estimation of evapotranspiration of the rice crop.

  • Nowadays, the solar expose right is very important with people's life. Therefore, in calculating the sunshine hours, the point analysis and area analysis methods are used in previous studies. Previous two methods have merits and faults. Therefore, ray-tracing method is used as a alternative. Ray-tracing method is adopted by the software of Autodesk Ecotect which is a widely used program by the architectural company and academic university. In this study first, ray-tracing methodology is studied with how to calculate the overshadowing area and, secondly, the sensitivity of the two major factors, overshadowing accuracy and sky subdivision, is analyzed. With these results, appropriate application of the ray-tracing method is presented.

  • Optical properties of $TiO_2/M/Ag/M/TiO_2$ films have been changed with the diffusion barrier metal M. Optimum opticla properties of $TiO_2/M/Ag/M/TiO_2$ as the transparent heat mirror film, could be obtained with Ti among diffusion barrier metals of Ti, Cu, Zr and Al. $TiO_2/M/Ag/M/TiO_2$ film, which was fabricated by sputtering of 18 nm-thick $TiO_2$ and Ag, and 4nm-thick Ti, showed maximum transimittance of 89% at visible wavelength and infrared reflectance of 97% at wavelength of 3000 nm. Optical properties of this film was not degraded by Xenon-sunshine weather test for 240 hours. For specimens with barrier layers of Cu, Zr, and Al, degradation of optical properties by weather test was increased in a sequence of films with Cu, Zr, and Al barrier layers.

  • Experiments had been carried out in Suweon area from 1972 to 1973 to determine the seasonal fluctuation of Pseudodendrothrips mori NIWA using direct counts and to know the effects of chemicals for its control. 1. The fluctuation of mulberry thrips was especially influenced by precipitation and number of hours with sunshine in the meteological conditions. The peaks of fluctuation occurred several times but the highest peak occurred in late August. 2. The mulberry thrips was distributed in the range of the 4th to 16th leaves from the apex in a branch. The highest density leaves were 6th to 12th. 3. Orthene, Metasystox were the most effects on the mulberry thrips.
