  • In order to select the optimum mix for the required fluidity and strength of mass concrete which is applied to transfer girder and to choose the optimum curing method depending on circumstances through hydration heat analysis of mass concrete, this study examined slump flow, air content and elapsed variation (0, 30, 60, 90) in unhardened concrete properties and reviewed compressive strength characteristics in hardening properties. And hydration heat analysis results through simulation are as follows; 1) Fluidity changes of unhardened concrete showed no significant difference, and those of elapsed variation also showed no difference but a bit of tendency to increase in comparison with the initial properties. 2) The higher the water-binder ratio was, the lower the compressive strength properties were, and the higher the fly ash replacement rate was, the lower the compressive strength development was. 3) In case of $Fc=40N/mm^2$, the optimum mix was fly ash replacement rate of 15% from water-binder ratio of 33.0%. 4) Hydration heat analysis results showed that in case of bundle cast, concrete temperature profile characteristics around transfer girder was unfavorable, and in case of separate cast, constant curing for at least seven days guaranteed thermal cracking index of 1.2.

  • The objective of the present study is to examine the feasibility on the development of high-insulation concrete using aerogels with hydrophilic surface treatment. To prevent the segregation and enhance the dispersibility of agerogels in the cement pastes, the substrate of aerogels was modified to be hydrophobic property using surfactant. The modified aerogels were added from 0% to 100% of the cement volume at the interval of 25% under the constant cement content. Some cement pastes showed segregation phenomenon and flocculation of aerogels during mixing phase. The addition of aerogels decreased the compressive strength of cement pastes but enhanced the thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity of pastes with 100% aerogels was lower by 43% when compared with that measured in the conventional paste. To improve the compressive strength and insulation capacity of concrete containing aerogels, a reliable surface treatment method of aerogels needs to be further investigated.

  • This study examined structural analysis of supports in tunnel and displacement and underground stress of tunnel by measurement, in order to evaluate the performance of high-strength lattice girders developed as a substitute for H-profiles. According to the three-dimensional nonlinear structural analysis results of the tunnel support, the load and displacement relationship between the H-profiles and the high-strength lattice girders showed almost the same behavior, and the maximum load of the high-strength lattice girders were 1.0 to 1.2 times greater than the H-profiles. By the results of the three-dimensional tunnel cross-section analysis of the supports, the axial force was occurred largely in the lower left and right sides of the tunnel, and showed a similar trend to the field test values. In the results of the measurement of the roof settlement and rod extension, the final displacement of the steel arch rib (H-profile) and high-strength lattice girder section in tunnel was converged to a constant value without significant difference within the first management standard of 23.5 mm. According to the results of underground displacement measurement, the final change amount of the two support sections showed a slight displacement change, but converged to a constant value within the first management standard of 10 mm. By the results of measurement of shotcrete stress and steel arch rib stress, the final change amount of the two support sections showed a slight stress change, but converged to a constant value within the first management standard of 81.1 kg/㎠ and 54.2 tonf.

  • This study was conducted to compare the protein characteristics, dough rheology and bread loaf volume of Korean wheat cultivars and CIMMYT lines produced in diverse environments and to determine the genetic and environmental effects on bread making quality. Protein characteristics, including protein content and SDS-sedimentation volume, mixing properties during dough development and bread loaf volume were primarily influenced by the environment. Wheat cultivated in Jinju exhibited higher SDS-sedimentation volume based on constant protein weight and bread loaf volume than those in Suwon and Iksan. SDS-sedimentation volume based on constant protein weight, mixing time of mixograph and mixing tolerance of mixograph were positively correlated with bread volume. Korean wheat cultivars showed different allelic variations of $Glu-1$ and $Glu-3$ compared to CIMMYT wheat lines. Alchanmil, Keumkangmil and Tapdongmil could be suitable for bread making because these cultivars exhibited a 10 point $Glu-1$ score. However, Korean wheat cultivars should be introduced specific alleles in $Glu-3$ loci, including $Glu-A3b$ or $d$ and $Glu-B3b$, $d$, $f$ or $g$, to improve gluten strength related to increase bread loaf volume.

  • The largehead hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus) is one of the most common fisheries stocks in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea. The species is caught using a variety of fishing tools, such as a stow net or a long line, as well as jigging and trawling. Scientific investigations have been conducted throughout the world to enable evidence-based estimations for the management and protection of the main fisheries biomass. For example, inshore and offshore hydro acoustic surveys are performed annually using bottom- and mid-water trawls around the Korean Peninsula. However, to date, no acoustic survey has been conducted to estimate fish size distribution, which is necessary to construct a data bank of target strength (TS) relative to fish species, length (L), and frequency. This study describes the frequency and length dependence of TS among fishes in Korean waters for the purpose of constructing such a TS data bank. TS measurements of the largehead hairtail were carried out in a water tank (L 5 m$\times$width 6 m$\times$ height 5 m) at frequencies of 50, 75, 120, and 200 kHz, using a tethering method. The average TS patterns were measured as a function of tilt angle, ranging from $-45^{\circ}$ (head down) to $+45^{\circ}$ (head up) every $0.2^{\circ}$. The length conversion constant ($b_{20}$) was estimated under the assumption that TS is proportional to the square of the length. In addition, in situ TS measurements on live largehead hairtails were performed using a split beam echo sounder.

  • Frame composed of concrete-filled steel tubular columns and I-shaped steel beam has been researched in order to development reasonable connection details. The present paper describes the results of an experimental program in four different connection details. The connection details considered include through-bolt between I-shaped steel beams and concrete-filled steel tubular columns and two details of welded connections. One of the welded connection details is stiffened by angles welded in the interior of the profile wall at the beam flange level. The specimens were tested in a cruciform loading arrangement with variable monotonic loading on the beams and constant compressive load on the column. For through-bolt details, the contribution of friction and bearing were investigated by embedding some of the bolts in the concrete. The results of the tests show that through-bolt connection details are very ductility and the bearing is not important to the behavior of these moment connections. The angles welded in the interior of the profile wall increase the strength and stiffness of the welded connection detail. In addition, the behavior curves of these connections are compared and some interesting conclusions are drawn. The results are summarized for the strength and stiffness of each connection.

  • From 2018 to 2020, the United States has repeatedly imposed sanctions on the Chinese company Huawei, which has triggered strong nationalist sentiments on the Chinese Internet. This paper is a qualitative content analysis of Zhihu netizens' views on US sanctions against Huawei to explore how anti-Western centrism influences young people's narratives. The results showed that they believe the Huawei matter is a deliberate hegemonic act by the United States because it fears the decline of its own technological status. Moreover, it is direct evidence that the United States is deliberately destroying China's economic development environment to slow down China's rise, as well as a typical manifestation of the injustice of the liberal international order. A further analysis revealed that their narrative logic is obviously influenced by the following aspects: 1) The mentality of national glory derived from comprehensive national strength leads them to believe that U.S. sanctions against Huawei are an obstacle to China's rise. 2) National humiliation leads them to view U.S. sanctions as a constant insult to China. 3) China's superiority created by China's comprehensive national strength and its scientific and technological achievements in recent years has boosted its confidence to challenge the West's absolute progress. This study examines the impact of anti-Western centrism on Chinese nationalist sentiment and offers a bottom-level perspective on the debate over the crisis of the liberal order.

  • In this paper, we developed a theoretical model which is able to predict the tensile strength and elastic modulus of hybrid composites reinforced by two types of randomly distributed discontinuous reinforcements. For this, we considered two known models; One is a prediction model based on the assumption that the composite is reinforced by two types of well aligned continuous reinforcements. The other is a statistical model for the composite which is reinforced by only one type of randomly distributed discontinuous reinforcements. In order to evaluate the validity of accuracy of our prediction model, we measured the strength and elastic modulus of polypropylene hybrid composite reinforced by talc and short glass fiber. We found that the present model drastically enhances the accuracy of strength prediction compared to an existing model, and predicts the elastic modulus within the same order with experimentally measured values.

  • This study developed a permanent deformation model for asphalt concrete based on shear properties. Repeated load triaxial compression (RLTC), triaxial compressive strength, and indirect tension strength tests were performed for the three types of asphalt mixtures at various loading and temperature conditions to correlate shear properties of asphalt mixtures to rutting performance. For the given mixtures, as testing temperature increased, cohesion decreased, but friction angle was insensitive to temperature at $40^{\circ}C$ or higher. It was observed that deviatoric stress, confining pressure, temperature, and load frequency affected the permanent deformation of asphalt mixtures significantly. The permanent deformation model based on shear stress to strength ratio and loading time was developed using the laboratory test results and calibrated using accelerated pavement test data. The proposed model was able to predict the permanent deformation of the asphalt mixtures in a wide range of loading and temperature conditions with constant model coefficients.

  • This study investigates mock-up test of the concrete containing crushed sands with improved quality and following could be draws as conclusions. The slump satisfies the target value. The air content reaches the goal, however, it decreases by the occurrence of loss with elagse of age. In normal strength region, the setting time of CS24 member is shorter than that of SS24 member. In high strength region, the setting time of SS50 member is make only slower than that of CS5O because of the use of retarding AE agent. The compressive strength of the concrete using crushed sands is little higher than the concrete using washed sea sands, and the compressive strength of core sample increases at lower part. Drying shrinkage of the concrete using crushed sands is larger than that using washed sea sands. At water caring condition, both the concrete using crushed sands and using washed sands expand at first, exhibit to be swelled and with elagse of age, they remain relatirely constant. Also, the drying shrinkage occurred greatly when the width and thickness of a member are small because it is easy to evaporate the inner part vapor in the small width and thickness of a member. there can be little different according to the location of a contact gauge, however it is similar to the change of specimen's length change. The concrete using crushed sands, of which grading, grain shape and fine particle is improved, are comparable to the quality of the concrete using washed sea sand.
