A New Reduced Common-mode Voltage SVM Method for Indirect Matrix Converters with Output Current Ripple Minimization

  • This paper presents a new space vector modulation (SVM) method for indirect matrix converters (IMCs) to reduce commonmode voltage as well as minimize output current ripple in a high voltage transfer ratio. In the proposed SVM, the three-vector modulation scheme is used in the rectifier stage, while the nonzero state modulation technique, where the three nearest active vectors are selected to synthesize the desired output voltage, is applied to inverter stage to reduce the CMV. The proposed SVM method can significantly reduce the output current ripple and common-mode voltage of the IMC without any extra hardware. Simulated results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SVM method.

  • The topology processor uses the status of circuit breakers as input. It operates on the bus section connectivity data, which is stored in the data base, to determine the bus/branch topology of the network. This output of the topology processor forms part of the input to the state estimation or dispatcher power flow. This paper describes the development of the topology processor using matrix structure.

  • In this research project two aspects of small signal stability are studied: improvement in Hessenberg method to compute the dominant electromechanical oscillation modes and siting FACTS devices to damp the low frequency oscillation. Fourier transform of transient stability simulation results identifies the frequencies of the dominant oscillation modes accurately. Inverse transformation of the state matrix with complex shift equal to the angular speed determined by Fourier transform enhances the ability of Hessenberg method to compute the dominant modes with good selectivity and small size of Hessenberg matrix. Any specified convergence tolerance is achieved using the iterative scheme of Hessenberg method. Siting FACTS devices such as SVC, STACOM, TCSC, TCPR and UPFC has been studied using the eigen-sensitivity theory of augmented matrix. Application results of the improved Hessenberg method and eigen-sensitivity to New England 10-machine 39-bus and KEPCO systems are presented.

  • In this work the Dynamic Matrix Control method is applied to control the grade change operations in paper mills. Paper process trained by neural network regards a real-plant. The model obtained with operation data is used to achieve DMC. Results of simulations for DMC control of grade change operations are compared with plant operation data response. From the comparison, we can see that the proposed DMC method exhibits faster response for the grade change of paper and achieves stable steady-state.

  • Prouhet string morphism has been a well investigated morphism in different studies on combinatorics on words. In this paper we consider Prouhet array morphism for the images of binary picture arrays in terms of Parikh q-matrices. We state the formulae to calculate q-counting scattered subwords of the images of any arrays under this array morphism and also investigate the properties such as q-weak ratio property and commutative property under this array morphism in terms of Parikh q- matrices of arrays.

경사각을 갖는 관성항법시스템 초기 정밀정렬의 오차 분석 (Error Analysis of Initial Fine Alignment for Non-leveling INS)

  • In this paper, performance of the initial alignment for INS whose attitude is not leveled is investigated. Observability of the initial alignment filter is analyzed and estimation errors of the estimated state variables are derived. First, the observability is analyzed using the rank test of observability matrix and the normalized error covariance of the Kalman filter based on the 10-state model. In result, it can be seen that the accelerometer biases on horizontal axes are unobservable. Second, the steady-state estimation errors of the state variables are derived using the observability equation. It is verified that the estimates of the state variables have errors due to the unobservable state variables and the non-leveling tilt angles of a vehicle containing the INS. Especially, this paper shows that the larger the tilt angles of the vehicle are, the larger the estimation errors corresponding to the sensor biases are. Finally, it is shown that the performance of the 8-state model excepting the accelerometer biases on horizontal axes is better than that of the 10-state model in the initial alignment by simulation.

최적 유한 임펄스 응답 평활기를 이용한 미지 입력 추정 기법 (Unknown Input Estimation using the Optimal FIR Smoother)

  • In this paper, an unknown input estimation method via the optimal FIR smoother is proposed for linear discrete-time systems. The unknown inputs are represented by random walk processes and treated as auxiliary states in augmented state space models. In order to estimate augmented states which include unknown inputs, the optimal FIR smoother is applied to the augmented state space model. Since the optimal FIR smoother is unbiased and independent of any a priori information of the augmented state, the estimates of each unknown input are independent of the initial state and of other unknown inputs. Moreover, the proposed method can be applied to stochastic singular systems, since the optimal FIR smoother is derived without the assumption that the system matrix is nonsingular. A numerical example is given to show the performance of the proposed estimation method.

  • For system state estimation, existing LMS type esimators widely used. For example Kalman filter is one of them. In this paper, a state estimator is derived for the H$_{\infty}$ norm of the estimation error spectrum matrix to be minimized. For the solution of this problem classical NP interpolation problem is used. Also, by deriving the duality between the filter problem and the well-known H$_{\infty}$ control problem, another solution is obtained. The computer simuation results show that H$_{\infty}$ estimator has less estimation error and so this is better than the existing Kalman filter estimator.or.

Guaranteed Cost Control of Parameter Uncertain Systems with Time Delay

  • In this paper, we deal with the problem of designing guaranteed cost state feedback controller for the generalized time-varying delay systems with delayed state and control input. The generalized time delay system problems solved on the basis of LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique considering time-varying delays. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and guaranteed cost state feedback controller design methods are presented. Also, using some changes of variables and Schur complements, the obtained sufficient condition can be reformulated as LMI forms in terms of transformed variables. Therefore, all solutions of LMIs, guaranteed cost controller gain, and guaranteed cost are obtained at the same time. The proposed controller design method can be extended into the problem of robust guaranteed cost controller design method for parameter uncertain systems with time-varying delays easily.

  • The aim of this paper is to analyze the batch service queueing model M/M(a, b ; ${\mu}_k/1$) under general bulk service rule with mean service rate ${\mu}_k$ for a batch of k units, where $a{\leq}k{\leq}b$. This queueing model consists of the two-dimensional state space so that it is characterized by two-dimensional state Markov process. The steady-state solution and performane measure of this process are derived by using Matrix Geometric method. Meanwhile, a new approach is suggested to calculate the two-dimensional traffic density R which is used to obtain the steady-state solution. In addition, to determine the optimal service initiation threshold a, a decision model of this queueing system is developed evaluating cost of service per batch and cost of waiting per customer. In a job order production system, the decision-making procedure presented in this paper can be applicable to determining when production should be started.
