In this paper a hierarchical stereo matching algorithm to obtain the disparity in wavelet transformed domain by using locally adaptive window and weights is proposed. The pyramidal structure obtained by wavelet transform is used to solve the loss of information which the conventional Gaussian or Laplacian pyramid have. The wavelet transformed images are decomposed into the blurred image the horizontal edges the vertical edges and the diagonal edges. The similarity between each wavelet channel of left and right image determines the relative importance of each primitive and make the algorithm perform the area-based and feature-based matching adaptively. The wavelet transform can extract the features that have the dense resolution as well as can avoid the duplication or loss of information. Meanwhile the variable window that needs to obtain precise and stable estimation of correspondense is decided adaptively from the disparities estimated in coarse resolution and LL(low-low) channel of wavelet transformed stereo image. Also a new relaxation algorithm that can reduce the false match without the blurring of the disparity edge is proposed. The experimental results for various images show that the proposed algorithm has good perfpormance even if the images used in experiments have the unfavorable conditions.

The influence of subsequent annealing treatment on the dynamic deformation and the fracture behavior of submicrocrystalline Al-4.4%Mg alloy is investigated in this study. After inducing an effective strain of 8 via equal-channel angular pressing at $200^{\circ}C$, most of the grains are considerably reduced to nearly equiaxed grains of $0.3{\mu}m$ in size. With an increment of various subsequent heat treatments for 1 hour, resultant microstructures are found to be fairly stable at temperatures up to $200^{\circ}C$, suggesting that static recovery will be dominantly operative, whereas grain growth is pronounced above $250^{\circ}C$. The results of tensile tests show that yield and ultimate tensile strength decrease, but elongation-to-failure and strain hardening rate increase with an increase in annealing temperatures. The dynamic deformation and the fracture behavior retrieved with a series of torsional tests are explored with respect to annealed microstructures. Such mechanical response is analyzed in relation to resultant microstructure and fracture mode.

In IEEE 802.11p-based wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE) communication systems, channel estimation (CE) is one of the important issues to provide stable communication service. It is hard to apply conventional CE schemes based on data pilot to real systems, because error propagation occurs in high mobility and modulation order environments, resulting in degrading the CE performance. In this paper, we propose one data pilot using multiple receive antennas (ODPM) CE scheme based on the weighted sum using update matrix (WSUM) with time-domain averaging (TDA) to overcome this problem. Within the process of WSUM-TDA in the proposed scheme, the maximum ratio combining (MRC) technique is applied so as to create more accurate one data pilot. Moreover, a new reliability test criterion is proposed as the fashion of utilizing MRC, which makes it possible to apply selective TDA that guarantees performance improvement. In simulation results, the packet error rate (PER) performance of the proposed ODPM is compared with that of conventional CE methods and its superiority is demonstrated.
In this study, we propose a multi-GPU-based 8KVR stitching system that operates in real time on both local and cloud machine environments. The proposed system first obtains multiple 4 K video inputs, decodes them, and generates a stitched 8KVR video stream in real time. The generated 8KVR video stream can be downloaded and rendered omnidirectionally in player apps on smartphones, tablets, and head-mounted displays. To speed up processing, we adopt group-of-pictures-based distributed decoding/encoding and buffering with the NV12 format, along with multi-GPU-based parallel processing. Furthermore, we develop several algorithms such as equirectangular projection-based color correction, real-time CG overlay, and object motion-based seam estimation and correction, to improve the stitching quality. From experiments in both local and cloud machine environments, we confirm the feasibility of the proposed 8KVR stitching system with stitching speed of up to 83.7 fps for six-channel and 62.7 fps for eight-channel inputs. In addition, in an 8KVR live streaming test on the 5G MEC/cloud, the proposed system achieves stable performances with 8 K@30 fps in both indoor and outdoor environments, even during motion.

This study examines the effects of the discretization schemes on numerical solutions of viscoelastic fluid flows. For this purpose, a temporally evolving mixing layer, a two-dimensional vortex pair interacting with a wall, and a turbulent channel flow are selected as the test cases. We adopt a fourth-order compact scheme (COM4) for polymeric stress derivatives in the momentum equations. For convective derivatives in the constitutive equations, the first-order upwind difference scheme (UD) and artificial diffusion scheme (AD), which are commonly used in the literature, show most stable and smooth solutions even for highly extensional flows. However, the stress fields are smeared too much and the flow fields are quite different from those obtained by higher-order upwind difference schemes for the same flow parameters. Among higher-order upwind difference schemes, a third-order compact upwind difference scheme (CUD3) shows most stable and accurate solutions. Therefore, a combination of CUD3 for the convective derivatives in the constitutive equations and COM4 for the polymeric stress derivatives in the momentum equations is recommended to be used for numerical simulation of highly extensional flows.

The stability of the two-phase flow in a heated channel is of great importance in the design and operation of the boilers and light water nuclear reactors, because it can cause flow oscillations and lead to a violation of thermal limits with resultant overheating of the channels and cladding. This paper presents a systematic evaluation to the variation effects of the basic four (4) dimensionless parameters in a homogeneous equilibrium model. The flow stability is examined on the ground of static characteristic curves. The complicated transfer function of flow dynamics which gives consideration to the transport lag of density wave is derived, and the transient flow stability is analysed by applying the Nyquist stability criterion in control engineering. The analysis results summed up as follows 1. The coolant flow becomes stable in large friction number and specific flow, while it is unstabale in small friction number and flow. 2. Large phase-change number and Froude number destabilize the two-phase flow, but small numbers stabilize it. The effect to variation of phase-change number is more dominant compared with Froude number. 3. The dynamic analysis is required to hold the sufficient safety of heated channels since only static results does not keep it. The special attention could be payed in the design and operation of heat engines, because the unstaable region exists within the stable boundary at small and middle phase-change number and Froude number.
The experimental study on the effect of axial clearance between the tip of impeller blades and stationary shroud has been performed. The investigated compressor, which is a part of a small auxiliary power unit engine, consists of a curved inlet, a centrifugal impeller, a channel diffuser and a plenum chamber. It was designed for a total pressure ratio of 4.3 and an efficiency of $77\%$ at design speed of 60,000 rpm. The experiments are carried out in an open-loop centrifugal compressor test rig driven by a turbine. For the four different clearance ratios Cr(clearance/impeller tip width) of 6.25, 10.93, 15.60 and 20.30 percent, the overall performance data are obtained at $97\%,\;90\%$ and $80\%$ of the design speed. The results show the overall pressure ratio decrease of $7.7\%$ and the efficiency loss of $8.7\%$ across the variation of clearance ratio near the design speed. It also indicates that the influence of tip clearance became weaker as the flow rate is reduced and the stable operating range is not significantly influenced by the change of clearance ratio.

This paper reports low-cost microreactor $(10{\mu}{\ell})$ biochip for the DNA PCR (polymerase chain reaction). The microbiochip $(20mm{\times}28mm)$ is a hybrid type which is composed of PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) layer with serpentine micochannel $(360{\mu}m{\times}100{\mu}m)$ chamber and glass substrate integrated with microheater and thermal microsensor. Undesirable bubble is usually created during sample loading to PMDS-based microchip because of hydrophobic chip surface. Created bubbles interrupt stable biochemical reaction. We designed improved microreactor chamber using microfluidic simulation. The designed reactor has a coner-rounded serpentine channel architecture, which enables stable injection into hydrophobic surface using micropipette only. Reactor temperature needed to PCR reaction is controlled within ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ by PID controller of LabVIEW software. It is experimentally confirmed that SRY gene PCR by the fabricated microreactor chip is performed for less than 54 min.

A neat prefect stable random access protocol for a broadcast channel, the distributed queuing random access protocol(DQRAP)is presented and evaluated. The DQRAP prootcol utilizes minisolts to provide termaty chan-nel feedback and two distributed queues to:9a) resolve contention and (b) to schedute the transmission of messages.Three minislots are sufficient to resolve collisions faster than the tranmission times of all inboled mecages.Three minislots are suffcient to resolve collisions faster than the tranmission times of all inbolved arrivals when ternary minislot feedback is used.Modelingand simulation indicate that the DQRAP protocol, using as few as three minislits, achives a performance level which approaches that of hypothetical perfect cheduling protocol,ie,the M/D/I system, with respect to propagation delay, thus offers the potential of improved performance over current protocols in satellite, metropolitan and packet radio networks.
