  • The postprocessing of fingerprint image are widely used to eliminate the false minutiae that caused by skeletonization. This paper presents a new postprocessing algorithm of the skeletonized fingerprint image using SOFM. The proposed postprocessing method showed the good performance for eliminating the spurious minutiae.

  • The interference among the rain radars and interference in the adjacent wireless station due to the spurious signals from the rain radar were analyzed in this paper. The rain radar measures the rain intensity using S-band signal. The measured data are utilized in forecasting the rainfall. The interference among the rain radars or in the adjacent wireless stations may be caused by the high output power of rain radar. Based on the propagation analysis of S band signal and the deduced interference protection ratio of rain radar, the interference due to the rain radar are analyzed. Also, the radiation spectrum characteristics of a rain radar are deduced from the caused interference effects by the spurious signals of the rain radar.

  • A new method of element decomposition is suggested for simple, efficient, and generalized formulation of shell finite elements. The kernel of the method is to decompose conceptually the actual element into a translational element and a difference element. The actual element is obtained by combining the two component elements. The derived element can be classified into three basic types depending on how the element is decomposed. A few complementary measures, to remove locking phenomena and thus improve the performance of the elements, have been studied. They are reduced integration, addition of internal degrees of freedom, and mixed formulation. A rational method of controlling spurious zero energy modes has also been devised. Validity and efficiency of the element with or without complementary measures have been examined through a series of numerical studies.

  • A RF receiver section for INMARSAT-C external mounting unit was designed, fabricated and evaluated. Using a INA-03184, the high gain amplifier consists of matched amplifier type. Active bias circuitry can be used to provide temperature stability without requiring the large voltage drop or relatively high-dissipated power needed with a bias stabilization resistor. The bandpass filter was used to reduce a spurious level. As a result, the characteristics of the receiver section implemented here show 60 dB in gain, 44.83 dBc in a spurious level. The voltage standing wave ratios(VSWR)of input output port are less than 1.8:1, respectively.

  • To detect and recover packet losses over wireless links is very important in terms of reliability in packet transmission. Most wireless communication systems adopt an automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol operating at link layer. However, it has been constantly addressed that the interaction not harmonized sufficiently between ARQ and TCP rather degrades TCP performance. In this paper, therefore, we propose an improved scheme from the aspect of the interaction with TCP loss recovery mechanism that can be applied to selective repeat ARQ (SR-ARQ) protocol and prove that the proposed scheme improves TCP performance significantly by OPNET simulations.

  • This paper has been studied about design of a transceiver for data transmission. The transceiver has bandwidth of 424.7~424.95 MHz and uses half duplex communication method, PLL synthesized, 20 channel, 12.5 KHz channel bandwidth and FSK modulation/demodulation method. The transmission set is designed using low noise amplifier and power amplifier Also, it consists of low pass filter and resonation circuit for decrease of spurious signal. The receiver set is designed using dual conversion method. Finally, the transceiver set achieves the following characteristics 9.71dbm output power, 47dbc spurious property and $\pm$12.3 Jitter at sensitivity of -1134dbm.

  • Parallel coupled microstrip bandpass filter is widely used in microwave circuits. But this filter limits the filter applications because of the narrow bandwidth and the spurious passband at twice the basic passband frequency. In order to solve this problem, a method of the asymmetrical coupled microstrip lines on composite dielectric substrate is presented. Closed form method is used to analyze the asymmetrical coupled microstrip lines on composite dielectric substrate. An experimental filter is fabricated over $33\%$ bandwidth centered at 9GHz. Compared with the filter on a single substrate, this filter on composite substrate shows improvement of the spurious passband.

  • A 2-out of-3 coincidence circuit and a discriminator to be used in the safely systems in nuclear reactors are described and analyzed in detail. The expressions for the reliability and the spurious scram reiliability of 1.out of-m coincidence logic in general are derived and the optimum value of 1 is assessed. The coincidence circuit is designed by making use of the pulse-summing method and is very simple in principle. The discriminator has good linearity in in the whole discrimination range and good threshold stability.

  • This paper presents a novel bandpass filter design method for suppressing spurious response in the GSM band and effectively reducing the overall size with the unbalanced-conditioned metamaterials. Compared to the conventional bandpass filters based on half-or quarter-wave resonators, the CRLH(composite right/left-handed) bandpass filter works excellently in harmonic-suppression by 40$\sim$50 dB and 80 %-miniaturization using the zero-order resonators bridged by Inductive-coupling Inverters suggested first time. The proposed technique, with the equivalent circuit and dispersion diagram, is validated by performance predictions and experiments.
