  • This induced voltage measurement test and electromagnetic field simulation are related to the possibility of control signal malfunction by power line. Through an experiment, this research analyzed whether the voltage causing control malfunction according to the on/off status of power permitted to power line was induced to control signal line. Also, the research calculated the voltage induced to control signal line and examined the phenomenon by conducting an electro-magnetic field-specific simulation through the finite element method for the cable model used in the experiment.

  • Primary radiation force on ultrasound contrast agents (UCA) in a propagating and standing acoustic field was explored. A specific ultrasound contrast agent $Albunex^{(R)}$ and $Optison^{(R)}$ were chosen for simulation. The model was developed based on a shelled bubble model proposed by Church. The numerical simulation suggests that bubble translational motion is more significant in therapeutic ultrasound due to higher intensity and long pulse duration. Even a single cycle of a propagating wave of 4 MPa at 1 MHz can cause a bubble translational motion of greater than $1{\mu}m$ which is approximately one tenth of capillary. Hence, UCA characteristics can be significantly changed in therapeutic ultrasound without rapid bubble collapses.

  • This paper deals with wave propagations in solid state electron plasmas from the view point of treating the plasma as a conducting fluid, and especially consideration is extended to the effect of diffusion on the permittivities and dispersion relations. The analysis is based on the conception of the self-consistent field approximation. It is shown for the cases of the specific physical configurations that the positions of the null elements in the permittivity tensors are not affected by the diffusion terms, and the diffusion effect appears only in the case of the space-charge wave. It is also shown that the magnitude of the real part of wave vector is in proportion to the 3/2nds power of the field in some regions.

  • For a high efficient field emission display (FED), the specific vacuum conditions below 10-7 Torr should be required. However, because the FED has the geometrical restriction due to its micro size, the thin film getters can be proposed for chemical pumping as a way to reduce impurity gases in the panel. The thin film getters, developed by employing the coating of new materials such as NI or Pt on getter surface, can be used without any activation process and show the enhanced sorption characteristics. Especially, using the Zr (1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) thin film getters with the Pt surface layer, the significant gettering for various active gases could be achieved from 9$\times$10-5 Torr to 1$\times$10-6 Torr or below. this good sorption properties is mainly contributed to the surface coating layer which shows the catalytic effect for gas dissociation and protects the getter materials against oxidation.

  • Education is a field that has tried to make use of the advantages of computers since they were introduced to the world. Intelligent Tutoring System and multimedia have become methods of teaching students of Computer Science, Education, Psychology, and Cognitive Science. Until now, they have been designed and produced only on the basis of a very specific domain and format. However, in the education field, most learners ask for integrated service that is practical, realizable, and sensitive to technological change. Therefore, in this study, we would like to present the technological and formal integration model as an ITS model which acknowledges changes in the fields of technology and education. As a technological integration model, the integration model of traditional Symbolic Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Neural Networks was presented. As a formal integration model, three integration models were presented according to (a) the process of learning diagnosis (b) learners' action behaviors (c) intelligence service respectively.

  • Scour at bridge pier is a complicated three-dimensional problem involving interaction of fluld force on movable aid nonuniformily distributed sand grains. Although several analytical solution approaches, experimental research and field investigations for scout at piers have been conducted, no comprehensive and universally acceptable solution is so far available. Even though many methods and equations for predicting scour at piers are available in the literature, hydraulic and/or bridge design engineers are often at a loss over which method or equation is applicable for the specific bridge sites. To provide better understanding about scour phenomena and better predicting of scour at piers, intensive research is conducted through comprehensive review of published literature. Based on the research the state-of-the-art of pier scour prediction for design application is provided as a design guide for practicing engineers in this field. Recommendations for applying aggradation and degradation, contraction scour, and local scour prediction methods or equations are suggested. It is hoped that this paper may provide good information for the prediction of scour at piers.

  • This paper wanted to find out research trends and its determinants on mobile commerce research reviewing 439 articles from 1999, the starting year of this field to 2012. Our analytical framework has 4 categories such as general, technology, consumer and firm, and 14 sub-categories. The results are as follows: First, studies on mobile commerce can be divided into 5 stages. Second, trends of mobile commerce are closely related to the evolution of mobile technologies such as communication technologies and devices (2G, 3G, 3G+, 4G LTE, LTE-A). Third, this field was led by USA until 2005 and has been led by Taiwan after 2006. Fourth, China, Korea, UK and Canada are also leading countries, all of which have mobile device manufacturers. Research trends of non-manufacturing countries and manufacturing countries are different from each other. In addition, the trends of leading countries are different from each other reflecting each country's business needs.

  • Purpose: Precision agriculture includes determining the right amount of nitrogen for a specific location in the field. This work focused on developing and validating a model using variable rate nitrogen application based on the estimated SPAD value from the ground-based image sensor. Methods: A variable rate N application based on the decision making system was performed using a sensor-based variable rate nitrogen application system. To validate the nitrogen application decision making system based on the SPAD values, the developed N recommendation was compared with another conventional N recommendation. Results: Sensor-based variable rate nitrogen application was performed. The nitrogen deficiency level was measured using the image sensor system. Then, a variable rate application was run using the decision model and real-ti me control. Conclusions: These results would be useful for nitrogen management of corn in the field. The developed nitrogen application decision making system worked well, when considering the SPAD value estimation.

  • Recently, demands for lithium-ion batteries (LIB) in various fields are increasing. In particular, understanding of the reaction mechanism occurring at the electrode-electrolyte surface/interface is significant for the development of advanced LIBs. Meanwhile, research and development of LIBs highly requires a new specific characterization approach. For example, atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been utilized to the LIB research field for various purposes such as investigation of topography, electrochemical reactions, ion transport phenomena, and measurement of surface potential at high resolution. Advances in the AFM analysis have made it possible to inspect various material properties such as surface friction and Young's modulus. Therefore, this technique is expected to be a powerful method in the LIB research field. Here, we review and discuss ways to apply AFM to LIB studies.
