시추공 탄성파 주시 토모그래피의 신뢰도 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reliability Evaluation of the Cross-well Seismic Travel-time Tomography)

  • 시추공 주시 토모그래피에 의하여 도출된 속도 영상의 신뢰도 평가를 위하여 파선-속도격자의 결합도와 시스템 행렬의 역산 특성 분석에 대한 연구를 실시하였다. 분석 대상은 SIRT법에 의하여 도출된 속도 모델과 이를 도출한 초동 주시와 파선 정보이다. 파선-속도격자 결합도는 파선 밀도 즉 격자 당 투사 파선 수와 파선 선분들의 합으로 산출하였고, 도출된 속도모델의 분해능 및 불확실성에 대한 정보는 데이터 공간(초동주시)과 모델 공간(속도모델)을 관련짓는 시스템 행렬의 특이 값 분해로부터 도출하였다.

Sea-Level Pressure Response to the Fast Solar Wind Stream

  • Solar-terrestrial links in short-time scales(daily ~monthly) are extensively explored in recent years: such as a response of low cloud amounts to the Forbush decrease, a response of Northern Atlantic oscillation index to sudden increase in electric field intensity of solar wind and so on (e.g., Svensmark et al., 2009; Boberg & Lundstedt, 2002). In this study, we perform the superposed epoch analysis to see any possible response of the sea-level pressure over Korean peninsula to the fast solar wind stream. Data sets are daily values, and zero days are determined to be days when the solar wind velocity exceeds 800km/s. Average profile of superposed sea-level pressure shows a gradual increase during the first 2 days and a decrease afterward below the normal level with a low pressure condition maintained for a few days. This result indicates that the sea-level pressure may respond to the fast solar wind stream. In other words, the average profile of sea-level pressure mimics the average velocity profiles. The correlation coefficient between two average profiles is 0.80, with 2 day lag.

Martian Bow Shock and Magnetic Pile-Up Barrier Formation Due to the Exosphere Ion Mass-Loading

  • Bow shock, formed by the interaction between the solar wind and a planet, is generated in different patterns depending on the conditions of the planet. In the case of the earth, its own strong magnetic field plays a critical role in determining the position of the bow shock. However, in the case of Mars of which has very a small intrinsic magnetic field, the bow shock is formed by the direct interaction between the solar wind and the Martian ionosphere. It is known that the position of the Martian bow shock is affected by the mass loading-effect by which the supersonic solar wind velocity becomes subsonic as the heavy ions originating from the planet are loaded on the solar wind. We simulated the Martian magnetosphere depending on the changes of the density and velocity of the solar wind by using the three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic model built by modifying the comet code that includes the mass loading effect. The Martian exosphere model of was employed as the Martian atmosphere model, and only the photoionization by the solar radiation was considered in the ionization process of the neutral atmosphere. In the simulation result under the normal solar wind conditions, the Martian bow shock position in the subsolar point direction was consistent with the result of the previous studies. The three-dimensional simulation results produced by varying the solar wind density and velocity were all included in the range of the Martian bow shock position observed by Mariner 4, Mars 2, 3, 5, and Phobos 2. Additionally, the simulation result also showed that the change of the solar wind density had a greater effect on the Martian bow shock position than the change of the solar wind velocity. Our result may be useful in analyzing the future observation data by Martian probes.

주기적인 압력구배를 받는 덕트에서의 유동 및 열전달특성에 관한 연구 (A study on Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics in a Duct with Periodic Pressure Gradient)

  • Characteristics of flow and heat transfer have been studied numerically in a square duct with a periodic pressure gradient. The flow in a duct was assumed to be fully developed and constant heat flux was imposed at the surfaces of a square duct. The distributions of axial velocity and time-space averaged temperature are investigated with angular velocity and amplitude ratio at a given Reynolds number 1000. When the periodic pressure gradient was imposed axially in a duct, the reverse flow may be occurred near the duct wall. The magnitude of this reverse flow increases as the amplitude ratio increases or as the angular frequency decreases. In the ranges of the amplitude ratio and the angular velocity in present investigation, the ratio of the periodic time space averaged temperature to the nonperiodic space averaged temperature has been found to be greater than one. This means that the cooling effect at the duct walls deteriorates with a periodic situation compared with nonperiodic one.

입자상물질과 VOCs 동시제거 실증장치에서 자동차 페인트 부스 발생 paint aerosol과 VOCs의 동시제거 성능 특성 (Performance characteristics of simultaneous removal equipment for paint particulate matter and VOCs generated from a spraying paint booth)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the performance characteristics of the paint particulate and volatile organic compounds(VOCs) simultaneous removal from the spraying paint booth in the laboratory and real site by sticky paint particulate and VOCs simultaneous removal demonstration unit. The sticky paint particulate and VOCs simultaneous removal unit is composed of the horizontal type pleated filter modules and the zig-zag type granular activated carbon packing modules. The test conditions at the laboratory are $50.15g/m^3$ of average paint aerosol concentration and 300 ppm of VOCs concentration which were same as the working conditions of spraying paint booth in the real site. But, the demonstration conditions at the real site are varied according to the working condition of spraying paint booth for the kind of passenger car bodies. The test results at the laboratory obtained that 99% of total particulate collection efficiency at 0.62 m/min of filtration velocity and 84% at 1.77 m/min of filtration velocity. The VOCs removal efficiencies are 97% at $3500hr^{-1}$ of gas hour space velocity and 59% at $10,000hr^{-1}$ of gas hour space velocity. In the real site test, the average removal efficiency of PM10 was measured to be 99.65%, the average removal efficiency of PM2.5 was 99.38%, the average removal efficiency of PM1 was 98.52%, and the average removal efficiency of VOCs was 89%.

Statistical properties of the fast flows accompanied by dipolarization in the near-Earth tail

  • Using magnetic field and plasma moment data obtained by THEMIS satellites(A, D, and E), we selected 203 fast flow events accompanied by dipolarization in the near-Earth region( X(GSM) = -7 ~ -12 RE) and statistically examined their properties. It was found that most of the fast flows show the maximum velocity between 1 minute before dipolarization onset and 2 minutes after onset and proceed earthward and duskward. We also found that only the flows with low velocity of less than 400 km/s are observed at X > -8 RE, while the high velocity flows(as well as low velocity flows) are observed at the further tailward region(X < -8 RE). And most of the tailward flows are slow regardless of distance at X(GSM) = -7 ~ -12 RE. On the other hand, if we consider the fast flow as a bubble (Pontius and Wolf, 1990), the entropy parameter, PV5/3 is an important factor to describe the plasma sheet dynamics. Thus we investigated the relationship between the flow velocity and the amount of change in PV5/3 before and after dipolarization onset and found out that the dipolarizations with more depleted entropy parameter tend to show higher flow velocity. Also we examined how the magnetic field at geosynchronous orbit responds to the fast flow accompanied by dipolarization in the near-earth plasma sheet, using the measurements from GOES 11 and 12 statellites. We found that most of the fast flows do not reach geosynchronous orbit as suggested by Ohtani et al. (2006).

철도터널 내 화재 시 대피환경 확보를 위한 임계속도 산정식의 유효성 평가 (Effectiveness of critical velocity method for evacuation environment in a railroad tunnel at fire situation)

  • 본 연구에서는 3차원 전산유체역학 기법을 이용하여 열차터널 내 10MW급 화재발생 시, 대피환경에 대한 1차원 임계속도의 유효성을 평가하였다. 또한 터널의 입구속도가 1m/s, 2m/s (임계속도) 그리고 3m/s일 때의 터널 내 기류분포, 온도분포, 가시거리분포 및 오염물질분포가 대피환경에 미치는 영향을 각각 검토하였다. 그 결과, 세 가지 경우모두, 승객의 안전한 대피환경을 충분하게 제공하지 못할 것으로 예상되어 승객들은 유동방향 하류로 대피하여야 한다. 그러나 3m/s 입구속도의 경우는 1m/s, 2m/s의 경우 보다 승객의 대피환경에 있어서 좀 더 나은 결과를 보인다. 따라서 터널의 방재시스템의 설계 시, 안전한 대피환경을 확보하기 위해서는 임계속도보다 큰 입구속도의 시용이 요구된다.

  • This paper describes emission control of hydrocarbon and carbon-monoxide due to oxidizing catalyst. The experiment was performed on a precious metal pelleted catalyst(Pt). The factors of the efficiency for purification due to oxidizing catalyst are space velocity, temperature, composition of exhaust gas and supplementary air. The experiment was carried out to control the factors of efficiency for purification. The results of experimental study show that temperature of catalytic converter, supplementary air and space velocity affected the efficiency for purification of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide.

Alfven Wave에 의한 31 Cyg의 Wind 속도 (THE WIND VELOCITIES DRIVEN BY ALFVEN WAVES IN 31 CYG)

  • 31Cyg는 Aur형의 장주기 쌍성으로, 확장된 대기를 갖는 초거성과 뜨거운 주계열성으로 이루어져 있다. 초거성의 wind는 질량 손실률이 크고, 차갑고, 낮은 terminal velocity를 갖는데, 일반적으로 Alfven wave가 wind mechanism으로 받어들여지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 31 Cyg에 대해 Alfven wave에 의한 모델을 적용하여 운동방정식을 직접 적분하였는데, 그 terminal velocity가 50∼80km/s로 관측값과 잘 들어 맞았다. 그리고 그 결과를 Kuin과 Ahmad(1989)의 경험적인 모델과 비교하였다.

Modeling of SH-waves in a fiber-reinforced anisotropic layer

  • In this paper we investigate the existence of SH-waves in fiber-reinforced layer placed over a heterogeneous elastic half-space. The heterogeneity of the elastic half-space is caused by the exponential variations of density and rigidity. As a special case when both the layers are homogeneous, our derived equation is in agreement with the general equation of Love wave. Numerically, it is observed that the velocity of SH-waves decreases with the increase of heterogeneity and reinforced parameters. The dimensionless phase velocity of SH-waves increases with the decreases of dimensionless wave number and shown through figures.
