  • The purpose of this study is to calculate transmission loss of the high speed railway's wall section accurately. Transmission loss measurement of ideal case i.e. the wall in the laboratory condition was carried out in first, which results were compared with those by statistical energy method. Transmission loss values of high speed railway calculated out by experimental method are compared with those from closed form solution. Commercial statistical energy analysis was also used to predict the outside pressure level using those measured transmission loss values. Simple SEA model could estimate reasonable exterior sound pressure level.

  • In this study, examined heavy-weight floor impact sound to rahmen structure(steel reinforced concrete structure) and bearing-wall structure(box frame type structure) that have slab thickness of 4 form at a standard laboratory through noise and vibration measured. The results of ANSYS modeling of structures was predicted that the nature natural frequency increased according to change of thickness of each slab by finite element analysis, and acceleration value decreased. Rahmen structures compares with bearing-wall structure, nature frequency was predicted low. Measurement results of natural frequency and acceleration level for structures at a standard laboratory, tendency department such as ANSYS modeling appeared. Rahmen structures appeared that reduction effect is less in Acceleration level and heavy impact sound transmission level comparing with bearing-wall structure.

  • This paper shows the feasibility of the suggestion that the angle distribution of incident sound to panels might be gaussian, instead of the conventional uniform distribution in the analysis of transmission loss of panels. To prove the suggestion, the problems with the diffuse sound field in a reverberation room are examined by case studies and the comparision of the prediction with the measurement of sound transmission loss of walls are performed. The results of the comparision show good agreement between the two values.

  • The interior sound pressure level of the Korean high speed train is predicted using ray acoustic method. The motor car, motorized car and passenger cabin are investigated under the environment of passing open countryside and inside tunnel Calculated sound levels of KHST are compared with the those of KTX prototype which vehicle shows similar acoustic behavior with KHST for the purpose of assuring the calculated data. In order to reduce the calculated SPL in systematic way, contribution analysis of sound sources and sensitivity analysis of concerning wall's transmission loss on the SPL of the designated receiving points are carried out. Finally, practical design suggestions are proposed.

  • In this study, numerical analysis is performed to investigate the sound radiation characteristics of an apartment house according to the type of the slab system. In order to satisfy the boundary condition of the apartment house, the whole floor is modelled with FEM model for three different structural system: wall, RC, flat slab system. From the analytical results, it is shown that heavy weight floor impact noise of wall type slab is larger than that of the other slab systems and the noise radiated from the wall have great effect on the sound pressure level. The results also show that the vibration energy of RC or flat slab system is widely distributed over the whole slab, which is main reason that the noise induced by the slab systems is reduced in comparison with wall slab system.

  • The equipment noise of machine room that generates at the building where human-being is living, is becoming to an object of strong civil appeal, and because it influences to the residential space through the floor or wall, its damage is very serious level. Accordingly, while an efficient forming of the sound insulating measures is earnest, as most of the transmission loss data was the material measured in laboratory, in case when it was applied to the job site, due to the precision difference of constructing work and the influence of detoured transmitting sound, the case of disaccord is the most. Therefore, this thesis has intended to present a fundamental data for an efficient establishment of sound insulation measure, by means of comparison analysis with the existing transmission loss data, after measurement of the transmission loss on the object of various walls, at the construction equipment machinery room.

  • In this paper, an analysis of sound propagation between two rooms with different mediums is discussed. Statistical energy analysis (SEA) is used to consider energy equilibrium among subsystems associated with the sound pressure levels in two rooms and the vibration level of the wall between rooms. Effect of the sound radiation from the structure-borne noise of the wall on sound pressure level of the receiving room is investigated. For a numerical example, sound propagation between engine room and water tank joined by a steel plate whose size is $8.4{\times}4$ m, is considered. It is found that when the critical frequency of the plate is above the frequency range of interest, the sound pressure level in the water tank is dominated by sound transmission through the plate, while sound radiation from the structure-borne noise of the plate is negligible except low frequency range below 63 Hz.

  • The effect of a scattering wall surfaces on sound diffusion can be assessed by determining the scattering and diffusion coefficients in the laboratory. However, the sound field in a concert hall including scattered reflections is different from the laboratory measurement condition. Therefore, there is a need for objective investigation of diffusion in real sound fields. In this paper, possible acoustical parameters of in-situ measurements are discussed.

  • This study was performed to prove that vitrified slag can be utilized as sound absorbing materials by investigating on heavy metal elution and the properties of sound absorbing rate according to the thickness. The heavy metal elution experiment indicated that heavy metal was not eluted since it was fixed stable in the slag. Vitrified slag generally exhibited a maximum sound absorbing rate around at 600Hz-1kHz and 3kHz in the low and high frequency range, respectively. On the other hand, the absorbing rate increased beyond the range of 7kHz again. The sound absorbing rate varied a little according to the thickness of the material. However, Vitrified slag is likely to the effective as a sound absorbing wall material since it has a sound absorbing rate clover 80% in the low and high frequency region when used as a wall. The results obtained in this study showed that vitrified slag has the recyclable material properties and therefore, highly applicable to sound absorbing materials.
