  • In this paper, a 3D structure skimmer-shaped circular microstrip antenna is designed, the ends of whose both sides are made as DC(Depressed Carving part) applying perturbation effect to reduce the patch size of microstrip antenna operating at design frequency 1.575 GHz. The result shows its return loss, - 10 dB bandwidth, gain, - 3 dB beamwidth E, H-plane are -26.59 dB, 65 MHz(4.13 %), 4.66 dBd, $79^{\circ},\;87^{\circ}$ respectively. The diameter of the antenna is 85 mm, which is 12.4 % reduced compared to the size(97 mm) of general microstrip patch antenna. Therefore its area reduction is 23.2 %. Furthermore, a linear and circular polarized baseball-shaped circular microstrip antenna is designed to minimize the patch size of the antenna. This structure of antenna operating at the design frequency 1.575 GHz is applied with the optimum RC(Raised Carving part) & DC ratio and an asymptotic line angle. In case of linear polarized baseball-shaped circular microstrip antenna, the patch size of the antenna is 74 mm, which is 41.8 % area reduction compared to general microstrip patch antenna. In case of circular polarized baseball-shaped circular microstrip antenna, the diameter of patch is 82 mm, which is 28.5 % area reduction compare to general microstrip patch antenna linear polarized. We have verified that the perturbation effect can be applied to minimize the circular microstrip antenna.

  • Few management studies have been conducted on late planting date for corn silage in paddy field as a barley-corn forage cropping system. Experiments were conducted during 2007 and 2008 at the Chungnam Agricultural Research & Extension Services. The objectives of this study were to determine relationships between planting date and com forage yield and to determine the best hybrid at the delayed planting after whole crop barley's harvest. The treatments consisted of 2 planting dates and 7 hybrids. Delayed planting considerately reduced stem diameter, individual ear size and weight. The ratio of dried leaf and culm in aerial plants was increased and that of ear was decreased. The coefficient of variation in fresh, dry matter (DM) and total digestible nutrients (TDN) yield was higher at delayed planting date on cropping system with whole crop barley than that of planting at optimum season. So, fresh weight was reduced by 91.8%, dry matter by 72.6%, grain yield by 51.0% and TDN yield by 68.1%. The appropriate hybrid for delayed planting after whole crop barley harvest in middle region was 'Gangdaok' as lower in the reduction of ear size and weight compared to that of planting at optimum season. Reduction in grain yield caused to decrease the DM and TDN yields. Therefore, to gain stable dry matter in silage corn by delayed planting date on cropping system with whole crop barley was necessary to select com hybrid on the minimum reduction in ear size and weight.

  • An in situ regeneration of activated carbon bed using an ozonated water was studied in order for avoiding the carbon loss, contaminant emission and time consuming for discharge-regeneration-repacking in a conventional thermal regeneration process. Using phenol and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as adsorbates, the adsorption breakthrough and in situ regeneration with the ozonated water were repeated. These organics were supposed to degrade by the oxidation reaction of ozone, regenerating the bed for reuse. As the number of regeneration increased, the adsorption capacity for phenol was reduced, but the change was stabilized showing no further reduction after reaching a certain degree of decrement. The reduction of adsorption capacity was due to the increase of pore size resulting in the decrease of specific surface area during ozonation. The adsorption capacity of phenol decreased after the ozonated regeneration because the in-pore adsorption was prevalent for small molecules like phenol. However, PEG did not show such decrease and the adsorption capacity was constantly maintained after several cycles of the ozonated regeneration probably because the external surface adsorption was the major mechanism for large molecules like PEG. Since the reduction in the pore size and specific surface area for small molecules were proportional to the duration of contact time with the ozonated water, careful considerations of the solute size to be removed and controlling the contact time were necessary to enhance the performance of the ozonated in situ regeneration of activated carbon bed.

  • Ensemble approach is applied to the detection modeling of illegal cash accommodation (ICA) that is the well-known type of fraudulent usages of credit cards in far east nations and has not been addressed in the academic literatures. The performance of fraud detection model (FDM) suffers from the imbalanced data problem, which can be remedied to some extent using an ensemble of many classifiers. It is generally accepted that ensembles of classifiers produce better accuracy than a single classifier provided there is diversity in the ensemble. Furthermore, recent researches reveal that it may be better to ensemble some selected classifiers instead of all of the classifiers at hand. For the effective detection of ICA, we adopt ensemble size reduction technique that prunes the ensemble of all classifiers using accuracy and diversity measures. The diversity in ensemble manifests itself as disagreement or ambiguity among members. Data imbalance intrinsic to FDM affects our approach for ICA detection in two ways. First, we suggest the training procedure with over-sampling methods to obtain diverse training data sets. Second, we use some variants of accuracy and diversity measures that focus on fraud class. We also dynamically calculate the diversity measure-Forward Addition and Backward Elimination. In our experiments, Neural Networks, Decision Trees and Logit Regressions are the base models as the ensemble members and the performance of homogeneous ensembles are compared with that of heterogeneous ensembles. The experimental results show that the reduced size ensemble is as accurate on average over the data-sets tested as the non-pruned version, which provides benefits in terms of its application efficiency and reduced complexity of the ensemble.

  • In this research, the processing control of NiCuZn Ferrite has been developed. The mixing and the size reduction of raw materials have been proceeded. In order to produce NiCuZn Ferrite, highly concentrated slurry with fixed ratio and wet ball milling were used. First, the dispersion behavior of raw mixture at the region of pH4~pH11 has been studied. Using wet ball milling operation, the best conditions of mixing and size reduction have been determined. Further more, the most suitable conditions, such as, dispersant kind, dispersant amount, milling time, and slurry concentration have been studied. The poly acrylic ammonium salt (PAN) was chosen as a suitable dispersant to have effective dispersion in basic region. The slurry of raw mixture without dispersant, showed high viscosity and poor grindability. As 0.7 wt% of PAN was added, the concentrated slurry (up to 55 vol%) was possible, and showed well grindability. After 18 h ball milling of 30 vol% of mixture slurry with 0.7 wt% of PAN, the average particle size and specific surface area of raw mixture were $0.54\mu\textrm{m}$ and $12.92m^{2}/cc$, respectively. The ball milled raw mixture, calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ for 3h, was totally changed into NiCuZn Ferrite with spinel phase.

  • To evaluate the effect of patient size on effective dose and image quality for Digital Chest Tomosynthesis(DTS) using additional 0.3 mm copper filtration. Eighty artificial nodules were placed in the thorax phantom("Lungman," Kyoto Kagaku, Japan), and Digital Chest Tomosynthesis(DTS) images of the phantom were acquired both with and without added 0.3 mm Cu filtration. To simulate patients of three sizes: small, average size and oversize, one or two 20-mm-thick layer of PMMA(polymethyl methacrylatek) blocks were placed on the phantom. The Effective dose was calculated using Monte Carlo simulations. Two evaluations of image quality methods have been employed. Three readers counted the number of nodules detected in the lung, and the measured contrast-to-noise ratios(CNRs) were used. Data were analyzed statistically. The ED reduced $26{\mu}Sv$ in a phantom, $33{\mu}Sv$ in one 20-mm-thick layer of PMMA block placed on the phantom, and $48{\mu}Sv$ in two 20-mm-thick layer of PMMA blocks placed on the phantom. The Effective dose(ED) differences between DTS with and without filtration were significant(p<0.05). In particular, when we used two 20-mm-thick layer of PMMA blocks placed on the phantom, the ED was significantly reduced by 36% compared with those without additional filtration. Nodule detection sensitivities were not different between with and without added filtration. Differences of CNRs were statistically insignificant(p>0.05). Use of additional filtration allows a considerable dose reduction during Digital Chest Tomosynthesis(DTS) without loss of image quality. In particular, additional filtration showed outstanding result for effective dose reduction on two 20-mm-thick layer of PMMA blocks placed on the phantom. It applies to overweight patients.

  • The reduction phenomena of concrete compressive strength with the size of specimens have been extensively investigated, but till now the adequate analysis technique is not fixed. The existing research results show that the bigger the member size, the smaller the strength. This means the nonlinear fracture mechanics theory is needed in order to analyze the fracture behaviors of concrete and the size effect. There is a few model equations that is to predict the size effect of compressive strength of standard and non-standard cylindrical specimen. However, theses equations did not considered the difference of fracturing mechanism which depends on the strength level. In this paper, model equations to predict compressive strength of concrete considering the size effect and strength level are suggested. The size effect model suggested in this paper shows good prediction compared with the existing test data of various concrete size and strength level.

  • This paper presents a novel design of a differential patch antenna for 60-GHz millimeter-wave applications. The design process of the back-to-back (BTB) patch antenna is based on the conventional single-patch antenna. The initial design of the BTB patch antenna (Type-I) has a patch size of 0.66 × 0.98 mm2 and a substrate size of 0.99 × 1.48 mm2. It has a gain of 1.83 dBi and an efficiency of 94.4% with an omni-directional radiation pattern. A 0.4 mm-thick high-resistivity silicon (HRS) is employed for the substrate of the BTB patch antenna. The proposed antenna is further analyzed to investigate the effect of substrate size and resistivity. As the substrate resistivity decreases, the gain and efficiency degrade due to the substrate loss. As the substrate (HRS) size decreases approaching the patch size, the resonant frequency increases with a higher gain and efficiency. The BTB patch antenna has optimal performances when the substrate size matches the patch size on the HRS substrate (Type-II). The antenna is redesigned to have a patch size of 0.81 × 1.18 mm2 on the HRS substrate in the same size. It has an efficiency of 94.9% and a gain of 1.97 dBi at the resonant frequency of 60 GHz with an omni-directional radiation pattern. Compared to the initial design of the BTB patch antenna (Type-I), the optimal BTB patch antenna (Type-II) has a slightly higher efficiency and gain with a considerable reduction in antenna area by 34.8%.

  • Recently runoff reduction facilities such as detention ponds were rarely used and limited primarily to cases. A specific installation criteria and method of design for runoff reduction facilities is insignificant in our country. Also it has difficult problems with quantification. A detention pond being installed at outfalls and generalized in our country is adopted as basic form with infiltration facilities because quantification index for runoff reduction facilities have not been developed. A processing of detention pond design has to determinate storage volume and outlet form is very complex and wasting human resources and time in the planning step. In this study, we have been unified FFC11-SimPOND being able to simply calculate size with simplified design method of culvert outlet and made a computing model (SimPOND-CO) for practical users.

  • Recently, the LCD has high market share in TV market. The use of motion images in portable devices like DMB, PMP and Cell Phone is growing rapidly. One of the technique of enhancing the LCD's characteristic which is the slow response time. But, the technique requires a lot of memory usage, because of the requirement of frame memory. In this paper, we propose a reduction method for the frame memory that is required for LCD overdrive. Proposed overdrive architecture based on modified DWT-Inverse DWT and Color Conversion. The proposed architecture has a considerable PSNR. At once, it uses 50% of frame memory size and reduces 15% of frame memory size compare with previous architecture. The design was implemented using Xilinx Vertex4 and had 2172 Slice except Memory.
