단일 논문 평가 지표로서 outgrow index와 single paper h-index의 실험적 비교 (An experimental comparison of outgrow index and single paper h-index as evaluation tools for research output)

  • 한 논문에 대하여 참고문헌의 인용빈도로 원 논문을 평가하는 outgrow index와, 인용논문의 인용빈도로 원 논문을 평가하는 single paper h-index를 비교해보았다. KCI 문헌정보학 분야 논문을 대상으로 시험 적용해본 결과 outgrow index의 값과 single paper h-index의 값이 비례하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 한 논문을 outgrow index와 single paper h-index로 분석하여 다면적인 논문 평가 도구로 활용될 가능성을 검토해본다.

Efficient estimation and variable selection for partially linear single-index-coefficient regression models

  • A structured model with both single-index and varying coefficients is a powerful tool in modeling high dimensional data. It has been widely used because the single-index can overcome the curse of dimensionality and varying coefficients can allow nonlinear interaction effects in the model. For high dimensional index vectors, variable selection becomes an important question in the model building process. In this paper, we propose an efficient estimation and a variable selection method based on a smoothing spline approach in a partially linear single-index-coefficient regression model. We also propose an efficient algorithm for simultaneously estimating the coefficient functions in a data-adaptive lower-dimensional approximation space and selecting significant variables in the index with the adaptive LASSO penalty. The empirical performance of the proposed method is illustrated with simulated and real data examples.

MPI: A Practical Index Scheme for XML Data in Object Databases

  • In order to access XML data stored in object databases, an efficient index scheme is inevitable. There have been several index schemes that can be used to efficiently retrieve XML data stored In object databases, but they are all the single path indexes that support indexing along a single schema path. Henee, if a query contains an extended path which is denoted by wild character ('*'), a query processor has to examine multiple index objects, resulting in poor performance and inconsistent index management. In this paper, we propose MPI (Multi-Path Index) scheme as a new index scheme that provides the functionality of multiple path indexes more efficiently, while it uses only one index structure. The proposed scheme is easy to manage since it considers the extended path as a logically single schema path. It is also practical since it can be implemented by little modification of the B -tree index structure.

치석 제거술과 치근면활택술후 다근치와 단근치의 치은연하 세균 재군락에 대한 비교연구 (COMPARISON OF RECOLONIZATION OF THE SUBGINGIVAL MICROFLORA AFTER SCALING AND ROOT PLANING ON SINGLE AND MULTIROOT PERIODONTAL POCKETS)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the recolonization of the subgingival microflora following scaling and root planing on single and multiroot teeth with periodontal pockets which were above 5mm. 7 patients with deep pockets were selected for this study. They had not taken antibiotics for 6 months and no history of dental treatment for 6 months before the study. After initial clinical(plaque index, gingival index, probing pocket depth), microbiological and BANA test were determined, each subject received a single session of scaling and root planing, but they were not received oral hygiene instructions. Clinical indices, microbial parameters and BANA test were reassessed 1, 2, and 4 weeks after treatment. The results were as follows : 1. Plaue index, gingival index and pocket depth were not significantly when compared single root group with multiroot group, both groups were siginficantly reduced at 2weeks in plaque index and 2, 4 weeks in gingival index(P<0.05), probing pocket depth was siginificantly changed at 2, 4weeks in multiroot teeth group and 4 weeks in single root teeth group(P<0.05). 2. Percentage of cocci was significantly increased at 4weeks in single root teeth group(P<0.05), motile rod was significantly changed at 4weeks in both group(P<0.05), spirochetes and nonmotile rods were not significantly changed. 3. BANA test was significantly reduced at 1 and 2 weeks (P<0.05) in single root teeth group, multiroot teeth group was not significantly all weeks. This results were suggested that clinical and microbiological effect following scaling and root planing on periodontal disease.

Posterior Inference in Single-Index Models

  • A single-index model is useful in fields which employ multidimensional regression models. Many methods have been developed in parametric and nonparametric approaches. In this paper, posterior inference is considered and a wavelet series is thought of as a function approximated to a true function in the single-index model. The posterior inference needs a prior distribution for each parameter estimated. A prior distribution of each coefficient of the wavelet series is proposed as a hierarchical distribution. A direction $\beta$ is assumed with a unit vector and affects estimate of the true function. Because of the constraint of the direction, a transformation, a spherical polar coordinate $\theta$, of the direction is required. Since the posterior distribution of the direction is unknown, we apply a Metropolis-Hastings algorithm to generate random samples of the direction. Through a Monte Carlo simulation we investigate estimates of the true function and the direction.

Effect of power law index for vibration of armchair and zigzag single walled carbon nanotubes

  • This research deals with the study of vibrational behavior of armchair and zigzag single-walled carbon nanotubes invoking extended Love shell theory. The effects of different physical and material parameters on the fundamental frequencies are investigated. By using volume fraction for power law index, the fundamental natural frequency spectra for two forms of single-walled carbon nanotubes are calculated. The influence of frequencies against length-to-diameter ratios with varying power law index are investigated in detail for these tubes. To discretize the governing equation in eigen-value form, wave propagation approach is developed. Complex exponential functions have been used and the axial model depends on boundary condition that has been described at the edges of carbon nanotubes to calculate the axial modal dependence. Computer software MATLAB is utilized for the frequencies of single-walled carbon nanotubes and current results shows a good stability with comparison of other studies.

  • To minimize the fuel consumption in the hybrid vehicle, the single performance index, which can express the fuel consumption in engine and electric energe consumption in battery system at the same time, is required. In this study we proposed a single performance index with equivalent BSFC concept, and with this, we constructed driving control algorithm, which can determine optimal gear ratio and power split ratio of the engine and the motor, for the parallel hybrid vehicle. Additionally, to verify the validity of this algorithm, driving simulation is performed.

XML 데이타의 효과적인 검색을 이한 다중 경로 인덱스 (Multi-Path Index Scheme for the Efficient Retrieval of XML Data)

  • 확장 경로식은 '$\ast$'문자를 이용하여 여러 개의 경로를 간단하게 나타내기 위해 사용하는 것으로 객체지향 데이타베이스(object-oriented database : OODB)에 저장된 XML 데이타를 검색하는 질의를 표현하기에 유리하다. 본 논문은 이러한 확장 경로식을 포함하는 OQL 질의를 효과적으로 처리하기 위한 인덱스 구조로서 다중 경로 인덱스 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 확장 경로식에 포함되는 각각의 단일 경로에 대해 고유한 경로 식별자를 부여한다. 그리고 인덱스 키값과 경로 식별자를 조합하여 저장하므로써 하나의 인덱스만을 이용하여 다수의 경로에 대한 검색과 단일한 경로에 대한 인덱스 기능을 동시에 지원하도록 하였다. 이 기법은 확장된 경로식에 대해 기존 인덱스를 여러 개 사용하는 방법보다 검색 성능을 높일 수 있고 B+-트리 인덱스 구조를 크게 변형하지 않고 사용할 수 있어 실용성이 우수하다.

Generalized Partially Double-Index Model: Bootstrapping and Distinguishing Values

  • We extend a generalized partially linear single-index model and newly define a generalized partially double-index model (GPDIM). The philosophy of sufficient dimension reduction is adopted in GPDIM to estimate unknown coefficient vectors in the model. Subsequently, various combinations of popular sufficient dimension reduction methods are constructed with the best combination among many candidates determined through a bootstrapping procedure that measures distances between subspaces. Distinguishing values are newly defined to match the estimates to the corresponding population coefficient vectors. One of the strengths of the proposed model is that it can investigate the appropriateness of GPDIM over a single-index model. Various numerical studies confirm the proposed approach, and real data application are presented for illustration purposes.

  • We derived a formula which can calculate the space distribution of refractive index variation by an applied electric field about Bi$_{12}$ GeO$_{20}$ single crystal. Stereographic projection maps of refractive index variation by an applied electric field were made out using numerical value to be calculated by this formula. By the calculated results, since an electric field had applied to [(equation omitted) 1 1] direction and [1 (equation omitted) 1] direction of Bi$_{12}$ GeO$_{20}$ crystal, positive variation of the refractive index of [(equation omitted) 1 1] direction and [1 (equation omitted) 1] direction was the largest. The incremented refractive index per unit electric field was +3.2410${\times}$10$^{-11}$ V$^{-1}$ for the wavelength of 6328 $\AA$. Since an electric field had applied to [1 1 1] direction and [(equation omitted) 1] direction, negative variation of the refractive index of [1 1 1] direction and [(equation omitted) 1] direction was the largest. The decremented refractive index per unit electric field was -3.2410${\times}$10$^{-11}$ V$^{-1}$ for the wavelength of 6328 $\AA$.
