  • A numerical simultaneous solution involving a linear elastic model was applied to study the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) of membrane structures under wind actions, i.e., formulating the fluid-structure system with a single equation system and solving it simultaneously. The linear elastic model was applied to managing the data transfer at the fluid and structure interface. The monolithic equation of the FSI system was formulated by means of variational forms of equations for the fluid, structure and linear elastic model, and was solved by the Newton-Raphson method. Computation procedures of the proposed simultaneous solution are presented. It was applied to computation of flow around an elastic cylinder and a typical FSI problem to verify the validity and accuracy of the method. Then fluid-structure interaction analyses of a saddle membrane structure under wind actions for three typical cases were performed with the method. Wind pressure, wind-induced responses, displacement power spectra, aerodynamic damping and added mass of the membrane structure were computed and analyzed.

  • This paper presents the simultaneous optimal design of structure and LQG control systems for the improvement of riding comforts of active vehicle suspension systems. The performance index of riding comforts is extended to include frequency-weighted acceleration in the quadratic cost functional. Janeway human response curve with respect to acceleration is used to verify the usefulness of the presented method. The method is applied to a half model of an active vehicle suspension systems with elastic body moving on randomly profiled road. The values of stiffness of suspensions are used for the structural design variables. The conjugate gradient method is used for optimization. The simulated results of simultaneous optimization with frequency-weighted cost functional are compared with those without frequency- weighted cost functional.

  • This paper presents an efficient and simple method for analyzine maximum simultaneous switching noise (SSN) on ground interconnection networks in CMOS systems. For the derivation of maximum SSN expression, we use ${\alpha}$-power law MOS model and Taylor's series approximation. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by comparing the results with those of previous researches and HSPICE simulations under the contemporary process parameters and environmental conditions. The proposed method predicts the maximum SSN values more accurately when compared to existing approaches even in most practical cases such that exist some output drivers not in transition.

  • A simultaneous determination method of BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, o,m.p-xylene) and TPH (kerosene, diesel, jet fuel and bunker C) in soil with gas chromatography/flame ionization detection (GC-FID) was described. The effects of extracti on method, extraction solvent, solvent volume and extraction time on the extraction performance were studied. A sonication method was simpler and more efficient than Soxhlet or shaking methods. Sonication with 10 mL of acetone/methylene chloride (1 : 1, v/v) for 10 min was found to be optimal extraction conditions for 20 g of soil. Peak shapes and quantification of BTEX and TPH were excellent, with linear calibration curves over a wide range of 1-500 mg/L for BTEX and 10-5000 mg/L for TPH. Good reproducibilities by sonication were obtained, with the RSD values below 10%. By using about 20 g of soil, detection limits were 0.8 mg/L for BTEX and 10 mg/L for TPH. The advantages of this procedure are the use of simple and common equipment, reduced volumes of organic solvents, rapid extraction periods of less than 20 min, and simultaneous analysis of volatile and semivolatile compounds.

  • Indoor localization is one of the basic elements of Location-Based Service, such as indoor navigation, location-based precision marketing, spatial recognition of robotics, augmented reality, and mixed reality. We propose a Voxel Labeling-based visual positioning system using object simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Our method is a method of determining a location through single image 3D cuboid object detection and object SLAM for indoor navigation, then mapping to create an indoor map, addressing it with voxels, and matching with a defined space. First, high-quality cuboids are created from sampling 2D bounding boxes and vanishing points for single image object detection. And after jointly optimizing the poses of cameras, objects, and points, it is a Visual Positioning System (VPS) through matching with the pose information of the object in the voxel database. Our method provided the spatial information needed to the user with improved location accuracy and direction estimation.

  • A fault current in Simultaneous faults is calulated, which satisfies the reliability for expansion of power scale. New algorithm for analyzing fault current is developed, which calculates exactly thevnin equivalent impedance from fault point by cecomposing increment bus admittance matrix ( Ybus), and fault current is calculated by applying multiport theory. The signeficant results are as follows ` 1) When system fault changes system configulation, equivalent impedance can be calculated simply with this new algorithm. 2) Mutual coupling of transmission line can be calculated efficiently. 3) Simultaneous fault current is analyzed by applying multiport theory, which can be applicable to large scale systems.

  • This paper presents a solution method, which can be regarded as the further extension of the generalized evolutionary method (Zhao et al. 1998a), for the simultaneous optimization of several different natural frequencies of a structure in general and a two dimensional structure in particular. The main function of the present method is to optimize the topology of a structure so as to simultaneously make several different natural frequencies of interest to be of the corresponding different desired values for the target structure. In order to develop the present method, the new contribution factor of an element is proposed to consider the contribution of an element to the gaps between the currently calculated values for the different natural frequencies of interest and their corresponding desired values in a weighted manner. Using this new contribution factor of an element, the most inefficiently used material can be detected and removed gradually from the design domain of a structure. Through applying the present method to optimize two and three different natural frequencies of a two dimensional structure, it has been demonstrated that it is possible and applicable to use the generalized evolutionary method for tackling the simultaneous optimization of several different natural frequencies of a structure in the structural design.

  • There are communication methods that guarantees real-time and method of performing the simultaneous acquisition through the synchronized multi-channels to improve the reliability of the telemetry system. Such synchronized systems need to be verified to confirm the simultaneous measurement performance of channels. In this paper, we propose a method to measure the time difference between synchronized channels in a telemetry system through simultaneous acquisition performance test. The simulation signal is applied for measurement and the difference between the sampling period and the simulation signal period is defined as the concept of time resolution. The principle of checking the measurement time difference between channels through time resolution was explained. In addition, the proposed principle was verified through simulation in the situation when measurement time difference may occur. And a procedure for identifying a measurement time difference in an actual telemetry system is described.
