  • A probability density function (PDF) approach to account for turbulence-chemistry interaction in the context of large eddy simulation (LES) based simulation of scramjets is developed. To solve the high-dimensional joint-composition PDF transport equation robustly, the semi-discrete quadrature method of moments (SeQMOM) is recently proposed [1]. The SeQMOM approach addresses key numerical issues in LES related to the inaccuracies in computing filter-scale gradients, enabling an efficient and numerically consistent solution of the PDF transport equation. The computational tool is used to simulate a cavity-stabilized Mach 2.2 supersonic combustor.

  • Control Variate (CV) is very useful technique for variance reduction in a wide class of queueing network simulations. However, the loss in variance reduction caused by the estimation of the optimum control coefficients is an increasing function of the number of control variables. Therefore, in some situations, it is required to select an optimal set of control variables to maximize the variance reduction . In this paper, we develop the Adaptive Control Variates (ACV) method which selects an optimal set of control variates during the simulation adatively. ACV is useful to maximize the simulation efficiency when we need iterated simulations to find an optimal solution. One such an example is the Simulated Annealing (SA) because, in SA algorithm, we have to repeat in calculating the objective function values at each temperature, The ACV can also be applied to the queueing network optimization problems to find an optimal input parameters (such as service rates) to maximize the throughput rate with a certain cost constraint.

  • This paper proposes the logic simulation for hierarchical logic network with function descriptor base data structure and algorithm on which a macro cell is considered as a logic elements. Function descriptor base data structure is useful when many logic elements of which type is same exist in a network, for it lessens the computer memory size used during the simulation. And the proposed simulation algorithm may improve the simulation speed.

  • Threshold voltage shift occurring during operation is implemented in a SPICE simulation tool. Among the shift models the stretched-exponential function model, which is frequently observed from both single-crystal silicon and thin-film transistors regardless of the nature of causes, is selected, adapted to transient simulation, and added to BSIM4 developed by BSIM Research Group at the University of California, Berkeley. The adaptation method used in this research is to select degradation and recovery models based on the comparison between the gate and threshold voltages. The threshold voltage shift is extracted from SPICE transient simulation and shows the stretched-exponential time dependence for both degradation and recovery situations. The implementation method developed in this research is not limited to the stretched-exponential function model and BSIM model. The proposed method enables to perform transient simulation with threshold voltage shift in situ and will help to verify the reliability of a circuit.

  • This paper shows the method of modeling and simulation of LED driver circuit. Simplified LED modeling is introduced and a driver IC, HV9910, is modeled by implementing the major function blocks. Circuit of buck type converter is constructed for simulation. Simulation includes the internal function of IC and various performances such as LED array current control and dimming. This results show that simulation approach is valid for circuit optimization and reduction of development time.

  • This paper presents development of train performance simulation(TPS) program to analyze traction performance, braking performance and energy consumption for Korea high speed railway system. The conventional TPS program have some inconveniences such as DOS-based platform, user interface and limited function. The simulation technique model using scenario menu, various analysis function and object-oriented design/programming is presented. This simulation result have been compared with Alstom's for the Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail Project.

  • Computer simulations were conducted to demonstrate the generation of microwave-induced thermoacoustic signal. The simulations began with modelling an object with a biological tissue characteristic and irradiating it with a microwave pulse. The time-varying heating function data at every particular point on the illuminated object were obtained from absorbed electric field data from the simulation result. The thermoacoustic signal received at a point transducer at a particular distance from the object was generated by applying heating function data to the thermoacoustic equation. These simulations can be used as a foundation for understanding how thermoacoustic signal is generated and can be applied as a basis for thermoacoustic imaging simulations and experiments in future research.

  • This computer simulation is the basic research for realize a real-time hardware of the reproduction system in original sound field with two loudspeakers based on the OSS(Ortho Stereophonic System) method which was proposed by Hamada of Japan in 1983. Through the computer simulation, presumed the system function of OSS equalizer using HRTF(Head Related Transfer Function), constructed the model of OSS equalizer and , evaluated the modelling OSS equalizer by evaluation formula. The obtained results are summarized as follows : 1) By the modelling OSS equalize operate as inverse filter of HRTF, an input signal reproduced effectively. 2) Known that the real-time hardware of OSS equalizer can be made by the fast convolution between the impulse response of OSS equalizer and input speech signal. 3) Since the system function of OSS equalizer presumed from HRTF, the study on the measuring of HRTF have to proceed.

  • To overcome main drawbacks of parametric models, k-nearest neighbor resampling (KNNR) is suggested for water quality analysis involving geographic information. However, with KNNR nonparametric model, Geographic information is not properly handled. In the current study, to manipulate geographic information properly, we introduce a depth function which is a novel statistical concept in the classical KNNR model for stormwater quality simulation. An application is presented for a case study of the total suspended solids throughout the entire United States. Total suspended solids concentration data of stormwater demonstrated that the proposed model significantly improves the simulation performance rather than the existing KNNR model.

  • In this paper, first, we prove some common fixed point theorems for the generalized contraction condition under newly defined modified simulation function which generalize and include many results in the literature. Second, we give two numerical examples with graphical representations for verifying the proposed results. Third, we discuss and study a set of common fixed point theorems for two pairs (finite families) of self-mappings. Finally, we give some applications of our results in discrete and functional fractional economic systems.
