Etch rates and surface chemistry of phenol formaldehyde-based photoresist after short time $O_2\;and\;N_2O$ radio frequency (RF) plasma treatment depending on exposure time were investigated. It was found that the etch rate of photoresist sharply increased after discharge turn on and reached a limit with increase in plasma exposure time in both gases. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed that the surface chemical structure become nearly constant after the treatment of 15 sec. Concentration of surface oxygen-containing groups after processing both in oxygen and in $N_2O$ plasmas is similar.

This paper proposes a low power frequency divider for an integrated CMOS phase-locked loop (PLL). An injection-locked frequency divider (ILFD) was designed, along with a current-mode logic (CML) frequency divider in order to obtain a broadband and high-frequency operation. A ring oscillator was designed to operate at 1.2 GHz, and the ILFD was used to divide the frequency of its input signal by two. The structure of the ILFD is similar to that of the ring oscillator in order to ensure the frequency alignment between the oscillator and the ILFD. The CML frequency divider was used as the second stage of the divider. The proposed frequency divider was applied in a conventional PLL design, using a 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process. Simulation shows that the proposed divide-by-two ILFD and the divide-by-eight CML frequency dividers operated as expected for an input frequency of 1.2 GHz, with a power consumption of 30 mW.

In this study, zinc tin oxide (ZTO) films were prepared on indium tin oxide (ITO) glasses and annealed at different temperatures under vacuum to investigate the correlation between the Ohmic/Schottky contacts, electrical properties, and bonding structures with respect to the annealing temperatures. The ZTO film annealed at $150^{\circ}C$ exhibited an amorphous structure because of the electron-hole recombination effect, and the current of the ZTO film annealed at $150^{\circ}C$ was less than that of the other films because of the potential barrier effect at the Schottky contact. The drift current as charge carriers was similar to the leakage current in a transparent thin-film device, but the diffusion current related to the Schottky barrier leads to the decrease in the leakage current. The direction of the diffusion current was opposite to that of the drift current resulting in a two-fold enhancement of the cut-off effect of leakage drift current due to the diffusion current, and improved performance of the device with the Schottky barrier. Hence, the thin film with an amorphous structure easily becomes a Schottky contact.

In this paper, an ultrasonic level limit sensor with a new structure utilizing the acoustic impedance matching is proposed to be able to check it out a change of water-level. 2 PZT resonators with the same property are bonded directly on the polyethylene plate. One is for transmitter as an ultrasonic transducer, the other one is for receiver. In this case, a polyethylene plate will operate as an acoustic guider to transmit a transverse wave between 2 PZT resonators in air. While in the water, a polyethylene plate having a similar acoustic impedance with the water will be emitted an acoustic energy into the water as a longitudinal wave. According to this mechanism, there was a wide difference of acoustic signal output between underwater and in air. As a summary, it is believed that this proposed level limit sensor could be used as a new one with strong toughness from the external electrical and mechanical noise.

An isolator transmits light in the forward direction and blocks light from passing in the reverse direction. It is regarded an essential optical component in medical, industrial, and research lasers for blocking reflection beams that cause optical damage and noise. It is also used as a communicative light intensifier to expand the lifespan of devices and enhance transmission quality. This study analyzed the characteristics of the core components in the construction of a polarization-independent isolator, namely, the walk-off polarizer and the Faraday rotator. Measurement of the extinction ratio of the resultant walk-off polarizer revealed that the ratio between the vertical and horizontal rays was 1,050:1 with a laser output of 0.032 W and 1,010:1 with a laser output of 2.68 W, thus presenting ratios similar to 1,000:1. In addition, the walk-off polarizer and Faraday rotator constructed in this study were used to compare output changes according to changes in power of input light and to check the penetration ratio. Results from the study presented variations in output value according to changes in power of input light. However, the average penetration ratio remained relatively consistent (~81.4%).

We developed a simple and effective purification method to obtain high-purity single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with low surface damage. The purification process consists of oxidization at $430^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in a furnace system of air atmosphere and homogenization in dilute hydrochloric acid solution for extremely short time. The role of homogenizer was examined during purification process in terms of purity and quality of purified SWCNTs. High-purity and low surface damage of SWCNT products was obtained using homogenizer which was operated at 8500 rpm for 10 min in the environment of 7 % HCI solution. From XRD spectra, we observed that metal catalysts were thoroughly removed. Raman spectra showed that the intensity values of crystallization ($I_{G}/I_{D}$) of purified SWCNTs were very similar with that of pristine SWCNTs. Moreover, the structure damage of purified SWCNTs was hard to find from electron microscopy. Consequently, homogenizing, which is a quick and simple manner, can be promising method for obtaining final SWCNTs with clearly high purity and crystallinity.

In this work, we have investigated the characteristics of the phosphorescent OLED and flexible OLED fabricated on IZTO/glass and IZTO/PET anode film grown by magnetron sputtering, respectively. Electrical and optical characteristics of amorphous IZTO/glass anode exhibited similar to commercial ITO anode even though it was deposited at room temperature. In addition, the amorphous IZTO anode showed higher work function than that of the commercial ITO anode after ozone treatment for 10 minutes. Furthermore, a phosphorescent OLED fabricated on amorphous IZTO anode film showed improved current-voltage-luminance characteristics, external quantum efficiency and power efficiency in contrast with phosphorescent OLED fabricated on commercial ITO anode film. This indicates that IZTO anode is promising alternative anode materials for anode in OLEDs and flexible OLEDs.

In this paper, the critical strains for pavement design were calculated from both Layered Elastic Program (LEP) and Finite Element Method (FEM) and the case studies which give similar critical responses were compared. Although FEM has been realized as a superior model, LEP is more favorable to pavement design due to its simplicity and thus, the technique to calculate the correct critical responses using LEP is significant. This study showed that KENLAYER can possibly estimate the critical responses close to ones obtained from TTIPAVE, which considers nonlinear cross-anisotropic behavior of unbound base materials, by adjusting the stress point locations.

The Wallace Collection in London (one of the national museums in the UK) has a gallery dedicated to conservation related displays. As well as permanent displays on the manufacturing techniques and materials of artifacts, there is a specially designed space for temporary conservation exhibitions. Through the example of the current conservation exhibition at the Wallace Collection and similar exhibitions and displays from other museums in the UK, this paper will study how the relationship and communication between the conservation profession and the general public have changed, from conservation as a behind-the-scenes and little-known activity to a closer interaction with the public and as a direct educational tool. The general function of a museum can be seen to have evolved from providing passive information to its visitors to offering more active and various forms of education. Conservation has developed with this change towards more awareness of the profession and its role in the preservation of cultural heritage through public outreach programs and displays.

Roots of Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris var. chinensis) seedlings infected with Plasmodiophora brassicae were examined by light and electron microscopy to reveal histopathological changes related to pathogenesis in the susceptible host. The pathogen colonized the cortex and partly the stele as well, invading up to the xylem. Gall tissues could be differentiated from the initially infected tissues, involving less compact organization and new vascular development. The infected cells were much hypertrophied, and contained one to several plasmodia. Except cellular hypertrophy, no pathological ultrastructural modification was noted in the infected calls. Infected cytoplasm became dense with ground cytoplasm, inconspicuous central vacuole, and increased cellular organelles such as mitochondria and dictyosomes. There were two types of nuclear states of plasmodium, uninucleate and multinucleate. Both plasmodia were structurally similar, filled with lipid droplets, bounded with envelope, and containing mitochondria, endo-plasmic reticulum, and sometimes small vacuoles. Plasmodial fragmentation, which may be regarded as a way to discharge plasmodial materials into host cytoplasm, commonly occurred, forming plasmodial fragments by outgrowth of plasmodial cytoplasm and regional compartmentalization. Plasmodial fragments were degenerated sometimes followed by forming chains of spherical vesicles especially in the uninucleate plasmodial state. These ultrastructural features indicate the biotrophic nature of the pathogen associated with its pathogenesis in the susceptible host.
