Vitiligo does not have a baneful influence on life and function of the body directly, but is a serious disease in that most patients suffer from difficulties in social life and considerable stress. We cured a vitiligo patient with a few depigmented patches in front of the left ear using aqua-acupuncture with hominis placenta and psoraleae fructus extract. Since this is just one case report, more case studies and research will be necessary.

The soft tissue triangle is an easily recognizable subunit of the nose. Therefore, deformities in this region resulting from trauma or complications after cosmetic surgery can have serious cosmetic impacts. Various reconstruction choices exist for deformities such as depression of the soft triangle but choosing the most appropriate treatment in each case remains a challenge. In the case described herein, a patient underwent augmentation rhinoplasty with a silastic implant and experienced implant exposure in the soft triangle area. After implant removal, the patient complained of depression in this area. The authors effectively solved this problem through a de-epithelialized composite tissue graft. In this report, we present this case and review similar cases of reconstruction of the soft triangle.

Glycogen storage disease (GSD) is a group of inherited disorders, which result in the deficiency of enzymes involved in glycogen metabolism, leading to an accumulation of glycogen in various organs. Deficiency of amylo-1-6-glicosidase (debranching enzyme) causes glycogen storage disease type III (GSD III). The main problems that anesthesiologists face in patients with GSD III include hypoglycemia, muscle weakness, delayed awakening due to abnormal liver function, possible difficulty in airway, and cardiomyopathy. In the face of these difficulties, airway preparation and appropriate glucose monitoring and support during the fasting period are important. The doses of the drugs to be used should be calculated considering the increased volume of distribution and decreased metabolic activity of the liver. We present the case of a child with GSD IIIa who underwent dental prosedation under general anesthesia. She was also being prepared for liver transplantation. This case was additionally complicated by the patient's serious allergic reaction to eggs and milk.

The stomach has become the most commonly used site for grafts to replace the esophagus in esophageal cancer surgery because of its good blood supply and ability to enable single-reconstruction anastomosis. However, anastomotic failure is a serious complication after esophageal cancer surgery. Unlike anastomotic leakage due to local ischemia, gastric tube necrosis is a life-threatening condition with a high mortality rate. Gastric tube necrosis involves extensive ischemia due to a decreased blood supply, and an urgent operation is mandatory in most cases. Endoscopic vacuum therapy (EVT) has been used for anastomotic leakage after esophageal surgery. In recent years, it has been successfully used for more extensive disease, including large esophageal perforation as an indication for reoperation. Hence, we report a case of extensive gastric tube necrosis treated by EVT after an Ivor Lewis operation.

Damage to the endotracheal tube (ETT) during oral and maxillofacial surgeries is a rare but serious intraoperative complication. Herein, we present a case of a partially damaged ETT that was repaired using Dermabond surgical adhesive (Ethicon, Sommerville, NJ, USA) during a Lefort osteotomy. Dermabond surgical adhesive can be a simple and viable tool to repair partially transected ETTs where ETT exchange carries a high risk of airway loss. Our case adds to one of the several techniques for managing damaged ETT in an intraoperative setting.

Arterial injuries in the gluteal region caused by a knife are rare but serious, with mortality rates of up to 25%. This case report presents the management of a young male patient admitted to the emergency department in hypovolemic shock, with uncontrollable bleeding from an isolated penetrating gluteal injury. Additionally, the details of the surgical approach employed are discussed.

An odontoid process fracture is a serious type of cervical spine injury. This injury is categorized into three types based on the location of the fracture. Severe or even fatal neurological deficits can occur due to associated cord injury, which can result in complete quadriplegia. Computed tomography is the primary diagnostic tool, while magnetic resonance imaging is used to evaluate any associated cord injuries. These injuries can occur either directly from the injury or during transportation to the hospital if mishandled. There are two main treatment approaches: surgical fixation or external nonsurgical fixation, with various types and models of fixation devices available. In this case study, computed tomography follow-up confirmed that external fixation can yield successful results in terms of complete healing, even in cases complicated by other factors that may impede healing, such as pregnancy.

본 연구는 놀이를 학문적인 관점으로 승화시킨 로제 카이와 (R.Caillois)의 이론을 기반으로 유아의 한글 학습의 동기부여를 위한 재미 요소를 찾아보는 것으로부터 시작한다. 놀이의 궁극적 목적에는 즐거움이 수반되어야 한다. 그리고 학습은 개인의 경험에 의한 영구적인 변화를 의미하는데, 놀이와 학습, 이 두 가지 요소는 융합을 통해 교육용 기능성 게임을 연구하는 게임 기반 학습 이론 GBL(game based learning)의 중요한 요소이다. 유아가 한글 학습을 하면서 스스로 목표를 달성하기 위해서 무엇보다 중요한 것은 재미이다. 유아는 성인에 비해 집중력이 낮기 때문에 몰입을 위해 재미를 학습과 결부시키는 것은 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 먼저 효과적인 놀이 특성 요소가 적용된 한글 기능성 모바일 게임 사례를 분석을 통해 알아보고자 하였다. 사례의 선정 기준으로는 사용자의 선호도를 기준삼아, 2014년 4월 22일을 시점으로 구글 안드로이드 마켓의 유아용 한글 기능성 모바일 게임 영역에서 10000개 이상 다운로드 한 게임을 토대로 다운로드 횟수와 사용자의 평가 별점에 따라 20개의 한글 모바일 기능성 게임을 선정하였다. 현재 시중에 출시되어 있는 다양한 유아용 한글 학습 놀이 콘텐츠의 사례를 R.Caillois가 제안하는 놀이의 네 가지 분류와 속성의 선행연구를 통해 아곤(Agon), 미미크리(Mimicry), 일레아(Alea), 일링크스(Ilinx)로 분석하고 그 고유의 특성과 비교하였다. 그 특성 네 가지가 한글 기능성 모바일 게임 안에서 어떠한 역할을 수행하는 지 살펴 본 결과, 선정된 사례 중 게임의 규칙과 의지가 최대로 포함된 아곤(Agon)의 유형이 가장 많은 분포를 보였으며, 각각 하나의 놀이 요소가 적용된 것보다는 네가지 놀이 특성이 고루 분포된 경우에서 유희성과 함께 높은 몰입도를 경험하게 해 주었다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 유아용 한글 기능성 모바일 게임 콘텐츠가 놀이의 속성이 반영된 재미의 요소를 학습에 접목하는 기반연구가 되길 기대한다.

Quality characteristics on the properties of process capability indices (PCIs) are often required to be normally distributed. But, if a characteristic is not normally distributed, serious errors can result from normal-based techniques. In this case, we may well consider the use of new PCIs specially designed to be robust for non-normality. In this paper, a newly proposed measure of process capability is introduced and compared with existing PCIs using the simulated non-normal data.

Harmonics and fundamental reactive power of nonlinear loads in serious unbalanced power condition are compensated by current synchronous detection(CSD) theory which is also acceptable for single phase power system, but the CSD theory is not suitable any more in case of controlled independently harmonics and reactive component. Therefore a new algorithm the extended current synchronous detection (ECSD)theory for a three phase active power filter based on decomposition of fundamental reactive distorted components is proposed in this paper. The proposed ECSD theory is simulated and tested comparison with a few power theories under asymmtrical condition in power system.
