A Case Study on The Application of Team-Based Learning by Culinary Major University Students to Culinary Skills Subjects (조리실무과목에 대한 조리전공 대학생의 팀기반학습(TBL) 적용사례 연구)

  • This study analyzed subjective cognitive types of culinary majors by applying TBL of cooking practice subjects, and applied Q methodology to multifaceted analysis of subjective cognitive types of learners. For the analysis of the study, interviews were conducted for college students majoring in cooking, and the survey was conducted in the order of constructing the Q population, selecting P-samples, classifying Q, interpreting the results, conclusions, and discussion. A total of four types were derived from the type analysis, and each was named according to its specificity as follows. Type 1 (N = 8): Cooperative Learning Effect Types, Type 2 (N = 8): Problem Solving Ability Effect Types, Type 3 (N = 6): Self Directed Learning Effect Type, Type 4 (N = 6): Individual Practice Preference Type analyzed for each unique feature type. It is expected that through the results of the study, it is expected to provide important implications that can help in the study of similar teaching methods in the future by fostering talents who can increase the needs of the industry and social stress.

A Study on the Learning Strategies and Academic Achievements of the Students in the Department of Health Science (보건계열 대학생의 학습전략과 학업 성취도 연구)

  • This study investigated the relationship between learning strategies and achievements of the students in the department of health science, and differences between higher academic achievers and lower academic achievers in the use of the learning strategies. The results were as follows. First, there was a correlation between academic achievements and self-efficacy and power of execution in the personality area. Second, there was a positive correlation between academic achievements and academic motivation, a negative correlation between academic achievements and avoidnat motivation, in the motivation area. Third. there was a correlation between academic achievements and all 8 factors in the behavior area. In the use of learning strategies, there was a difference found in self-efficacy and the power of execution between the higher academic achievers and the lower academic achievers. It also was found that the lower academic achievers perceived more depression, showed remarkably lower motivation and higher avoidance motivation, than the higher academic achievers. Lastly, the lower academic achievers was lagged behind noticeably compared to the higher academic achievers in the ability of using all factors of the behavior area.

  • The purposes of this study are: (1) to develop a family life education program and teaching-learning materials for building family strength, (2) to apply its program & teaching-learning materials to classrooms on the area of 'human development and family relationship' in Home Economics Education in senior high schools, (3) to provide self-directed teaching-learning materials for senior high schools' teachers and 11th-12th grade students. This study was performed according to the following procedure : (1) The area of family life education in the 7th Home Economics Education Curriculum was analyzed. (2) The students' abilities needed to acquire skills for family life were analyzed. (3) A framework for life-span family life education developed by NCFR and Adult Roles and Responsibilities Resource Guide in Utah, U.S. were reviewed and analyzed. Five units of the family life education such as 1)acquiring abilities for self management. 2)acquiring abilities for communicating, ?building family strength, acquiring abilities for crisis management, ?preparing the wise parent's roles was reconstructed. (4) In order to improve the effect of the family life education, the teaching-learning materials including lesson plans, work sheets, materials for teacher. hand outs, ppt materials. cartoons, pictures etc. were developed. (5) The developed teaching-learning materials were applied in the senior high school's classes and were revised. Additionally. a CD-rom title was made.

The Great Learning and the Political Philosophy (『대학』의 정치철학: 자기성찰(自己省察)과 혈구행정(絜矩行政)의 정치)

  • So far there has been a strong tendency to study The Great Learning in terms of quite" limited ethical and moral understandings." Yet The Great Learning was originally a political text to educate the ruler. So the ethical and moral understanding discussed in the book should be interpreted as something more comprehensive and practical, which includes the political ability. This paper thus focuses on this new line of understanding of The Great Learning. Among the three principles of the book, 'Myeongmyeongdeok( 明明德)' means the virtue of a politician, that is to 'cultivate (Myeong)' the 'properties for a statesman (Myeongdeok).' 'Sinmin (新民)' means 'to innovate or reform the people as a result of substantive administration of a politician'. 'Jieojiseon (止於至善)' means 'to reach and to maintain the highest degree of goodness as a result of Myeongmyeongdeok and Sinmin'. These three principles would divide into eight practicums. Myeongmyeongdeok would divide into five steps of 'Sugi(修己: Cultivating the self)' practicum, which are 'Gyeokmul (格物) → Chiji(致知) → Seongeui(誠意)→ Jeongsim (正心)→ Susin (修身)'. Sinmin would divide into three steps of 'Chiin (治人: rule the people)' practicum which are 'Jega(齊家) → Chiguk(治國) → Pyeongcheonha(平天下).' And the point where the two practicums are harmonized, i.e. that of Sugichiin (修己治人), is the place of Jieojiseon. Not every ethical people become a politician but every politician must be ethical. That is the assertion of the Great Learning.

The Effects of Reading-Based Learning Coaching Program for Middle School Students in County-level City (지방의 군 단위 지역 중학생 대상 독서기반 학습코칭 프로그램의 효과성 검증)

  • The purpose of this research is verifying the effects born by reading-based learning coaching programs on Korean language performance and the psychological variables of middle school students. A reading-based learning coaching program applied alongside a coaching model was developed and presented to first grade middle school students living in a local county-level city. The psychological variables were measured three times: prior to the program, immediately following the end of the program, and one month after the end of the program. Korean language performance was only measured twice: prior to the program and following the end of the program. Results revealed that compared to the control group, the experiment exhibited showed significant improvement in the scores of learning efficacy and self-regulation efficacy after the program. As well, these changes lasted for up to one month after the program. The future time perspective didn't show any significant interaction effects between time and group. The experimental group's performance in terms of Korean language was also significantly improved after completing the program. Based on these results, implications and limitations are discussed.

Analysis of class satisfaction with Peer Evaluation in Collaborative Learning-based classes (협력학습 기반 수업에서의 동료평가에 대한 수업 만족도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze class satisfaction with peer evaluation in Collaborative Learning-based classes. For collaborative learning-based classes, problem-based learning and project-based learning were selected. Educational implications were derived by designing Instructional procedures of Collaborative Learning-based classes, Peer evaluation types and questionnaire design, Peer evaluation progress of Collaborative Learning-based classes, Class satisfaction research and analysis In Collaborative Learning-based classes. The subjects of the study were participants in Collaborative Learning-based classes selected as problem-based learning and project-based classes. For class satisfaction with peer evaluation in Collaborative Learning-based classes, a survey was conducted on 168 participants A University in Korea. The research tool was designed as Learning procedures for peer evaluation Collaborative Learning-based classes is Team Building, Plan to the Task, To do Task, Mid-check on task, Task completion, Presentation & Evaluation, Reflection & Self-Evaluation. The content validity of items was confirmed by CVR of 12 experts. In the research results, the average class satisfaction of peer evaluation is 4.05(SD=91), followed by class concentration, diligence, voluntary, learning atmosphere. As a result of t-testing the difference in class type between collaborate learning-based classes, the satisfaction of PBL was higher than that of PjBL and a statistically significant difference was observed. The result of this study have significance in providing implications for class design and operation for the application and expansion of peer evaluation in higher education. However, there is a limit to generalization as a result of research using convenience.

Exploring on Digital Textbooks for Teachers and Students (교사와 학습자를 위한 디지털 교과서에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The study looks for keys to provide development direction of digital textbooks based on educational meaning and roles for increasing satisfaction of teacher and student uses in educational activities. In the paradigm shift toward learner-centered pedagogy, digital textbooks have been actively discussed in exploiting the pedagogical ideas, such as multimedia learning, self-regulated learning, deeper learning, and collaborative learning, offered by the technology. In the study, we discuss the concept and historical background of digital textbooks based on the changes of pedagogical paradigm, and then we discuss fundamental functionality, effectiveness, physical and psychological impact, and cognitive aspects to empower the use of digital textbooks in public education system.

The Educational Effects of Peer Agent System to Improve Problem-Solving Ability (문제해결력 향상을 위한 동료 에이전트 시스템의 교육적 효과)

  • There are several studies in order to learn about programming language. This paper develops a peer agent system based on teaching and learning strategies in order to improve problem-solving ability. Problem-solving ability involves three components - content understanding, domain-dependent problem-solving strategies, and self-regulation. This paper shows the teaching and learning strategies about components of problem-solving for learning to program and the peer agent system uses the teaching and learning strategies. This study intents to analyze the educational effects of the peer agent system. The results show that the system has superior effects on problem-solving ability compared to traditional programming courses or pair programming courses. It means that the peer agent system is the effective educational system in improving student's problem-solving ability.

Systematic Review of Korean Studies on Simulation within Nursing Education (시뮬레이션을 활용한 한국간호교육 연구에 대한 체계적 고찰)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review nursing studies with regard to simulation- based learning in Korea. Methods: This systematic review examines the literature on simulation in nursing education from 2003 to 2012. The electronic databases reviewed included: RISS, the National Assembly Library, the National Library of Korea, and major nursing journal databases in Korea. The MeSH search terms included nursing, simulation, simulator, and standardized patient. Results: In total, 52 studies were included in the literature review. We included 21 quasi-experimental studies and 25 studies using high-fidelity simulation. They included knowledge and problem-solving ability in the cognitive domain; self efficacy, learning satisfaction, interpersonal relationships and communication, and confidence in the affective domain; and clinical performance ability and learning performance evaluation in the psychomotor domain. This systematic literature review revealed that simulation is useful in nursing education but uncovered a gap in the literature pertaining to the transfer of knowledge to performance and how to learn from cognitive reflection. Conclusions: This result suggests that it is necessary to conduct additional research on the cognitive learning process and transition to performance.

  • This paper proposed CHELS-App that Smart-phone APP optimized cultural heritage experiential learning is configured can learning and sightseeing at the same time with experience the cultural heritage and enjoying the mission through quests to take advantage of the Smart-phone. CHELS-App is provide a guide maps by using the location-based service and cultural commentary(commentary, photos, quizzes, games, cartoon) with capability of event push about the Jongmyo Shrine as world heritage, and configured with capability of experience diary create and foot stamp through these experiences.
