Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) technique compared with conventional ICSI and previous ICSI attempts in oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia (OAT) patients. Methods: The sperms were selected under high magnification ($6,600{\times}$) and used to induce fertilization in previous ICSI patients by IMSI. These results were compared with previous conventional ICSI cycles in patients with OAT infertility. Results: These results demonstrated no significant difference in the fertilization rate between IMSI and previous ICSI cycles (67.7% vs. 65.0%). However, the pregnancy and implantation rates with IMSI were significantly higher than those of the ICSI cycles (33.3% vs. 12.5% and 14.6% vs. 5.4%, respectively; p<0.05). The miscarriage rate among pregnant patients (18.2% vs. 37.5%) showed no statistically significant difference between groups. Conclusion: Compared to conventional ICSI, this study found that IMSI increased the IVF-ET success rates in patients with OAT.

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to determine the effect of patient-selected, task-oriented training on activities of daily living, quality of life, and depression for stroke patients. METHODS: This study included 40 stroke subjects, randomly assigned to either an experimental group or a control group. Both the experimental group and the control group included 20 stroke patients. Patients from the experimental group selected and performed task-oriented training. In the exercise program, the patient chose two categories from six categories and trained for 30 minutes a day, three times a week, for four weeks. Patients from the control group performed conventional task-oriented training. Outcomes were measured using the Korean version of a modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), the Korean Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (K-IADL), the Stroke-specific Quality of Life (SS-QOL), the Short Form 8 (SF-8), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), both before and after training. RESULTS: There were significant differences between the before- and after-intervention data of the K-MBI and the K-IADL (p<.05) for both groups. Also, there were more significant improvements in the experimental group compared to the control group (p<.05) for the SS-QOL, SF-8 and BDI. CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that patients-selected, task-oriented training had positive effects on stroke patients' activities of daily living, quality of life, and depression.
Purpose: In this study, 100 stroke patients and 205 physical therapists were surveyed to determine the essential functions needed in the rehabilitation process of stroke patients. Methods: This study involved 100 stroke patients and 205 physical therapists. Sixteen functions suggested in the previous study as necessary in the rehabilitation process of stroke patients were selected, and a revised questionnaire was prepared and distributed to several institutions. A frequency analysis of the collected data was conducted to aggregate the functions required in rehabilitation, and a scoring process was used to determine their ranking among the 16 functions. Results: The functions required in the rehabilitation process, as selected by stroke patients, were ranked as follows: walking, toileting, eating, using products and technology for communication, and washing oneself. The functions required in the rehabilitation process, as selected by physical therapists, were ranked as follows: muscle power functions, maintaining body position, muscle tone functions, attention functions, and walking. Conclusion: The results of the study confirm the importance of an agreed goal between the stroke patient and the therapist regarding the functions required for the rehabilitation. This understanding plays a significant role in achieving the patient's expectations and the therapist's predicted performance, thereby providing reassurance and confidence in the impact of the research.
A reserch scale of 48 items selected from MMPI by McCall et al. was used to compare psychologic aspects of 80 patients with MPDS to control I subjects and control II subjects. For this, study subjects were selected 80 patients of MPDS who visited the Dept. of Dentistry. K.N.U.H., from December in 1982 to September in 1983. Control I subjects were selected 80 outpatients without MPDS who required dental treatment from December in 1982 to September in 1983. And control II subjects were selected 80 persons without MPDS who required no dental treatment and lived in Taegu. The results were as follow : In study subjects, somatic gruop and behavioral group are markedly high than control (I,II)subjects. In somatic group and behavioral group, there was no significant differencd between control I subjects and control II subjects. In somatics group and begavioral group, there was no significant difference between male and female in each subjects: In study subject, general nature somatic category was higher than head, neck, throat and GIT somatic category.(P<0.05) In study subjects, somatic group and behavioral group gradually increased according to increase in number of MPDS symptom.

Purpose : The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of plastic ankle foot orthosis on adult post-stroke hemiplegic patients walking ability and balance. Method : The searched for the case controlled clinical trials about the effects of plastic ankle foot orthosis(pAFO) for walking ability and balance using quantitative gait analysis in adult post-stroke patients. Ten trials were selected from Riss4U databases published until June 2016 in Korea. The selected trials contained a control group with pre-test and post-test design, measured walking ability and balance as a dependent variable. Result : The selected ten trials involved a total of 180 patients. The walking speed, cadence, the portion of double limb supporting, stride length on affected side were improved by plastic ankle foot orthosis. Conclusion : The plastic ankle foot orthosis has some evidence to improve the walking ability and balance in post-stroke hemiplegic patients.
This study was conducted to find out basic information on better customer satisfaction and service by examining and analyzing in what routes patients mostly have selected their dental medical organizations and how they have reacted to their dissatisfaction. The subject of study included the patients who have come to dental clinics and dental hospitals to be treated in Cheonan City, Chungnam and the researcher of this study used a survey and analyzed its gathered data using an SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN 11.5 Program. As analysis methods, frequency and percentage were calculated to figure out the general characteristics of its subject. In addition, a ${\chi}^2$(Chi-square) test was performed to figure out the factors that patients have selected their dental medical organizations and the following results were obtained. 1. The largest number of patients selected their dental medical organizations by hearsay and more female and married patients selected them by hearsay than other patients, and there were significant differences(p<.05). 2. The dental patients put the priority on treatment techniques in their visiting hospitals and the patients who were more than 40 years old and married patients put more emphasis on treatment techniques in their visiting hospitals than other patients and there were significant differences(p<.05). 3. The said dental patients were not satisfied with the kindness of medical staffs in their visiting medical organizations; meanwhile, the patients who were aged below 30 and had an academic background of more than university degree and were unmarried were less satisfied with the kindness of medical staffs in their visiting medical organizations than other patients and there were significant differences(p<.05). 4. In terms of improvement methods or complaints, the largest number of them said that they just ignored and endured; meanwhile, the patients who were aged below 30 and had an education of more than university degree and were unmarried were more patient of improvement methods or complaints than other patients and there were significant differences(p<.05). 5. There were more patients who have introduced their visiting medical organizations to their neighboring people than the patients who have not done it; in the meantime, the patients who were aged over 40 and were married have introduced their visiting medical organizations to their neighboring people more than other patients(p<.05).
cDNA microarray-based comparative genomic hybridization(CGH) data includes low-intensity spots and thus a statistical strategy is needed to detect subtle differences between different cancer classes. In this study, genes displaying a high frequency of alteration in one of the different classes were selected among the pre-selected genes that show relatively large variations between genes compared to total variations. Utilizing copy-number changes of the selected genes, this study suggests a statistical approach to predict patients' classes with increased performance by pre-classifying patients with similar genetic alteration scores. Two-stage logistic regression model(TLRM) was suggested to pre-classify homogeneous patients and predict patients' classes for cancer prediction; a decision tree(DT) was combined with logistic regression on the set of informative genes. TLRM was constructed in cDNA microarray-based CGH data from the Cancer Metastasis Research Center(CMRC) at Yonsei University; it predicted the patients' clinical diagnoses with perfect matches (except for one patient among the high-risk and low-risk classified patients where the performance of predictions is critical due to the high sensitivity and specificity requirements for clinical treatments. Accuracy validated by leave-one-out cross-validation(LOOCV) was 83.3% while other classification methods of CART and DT performed as comparisons showed worse performances than TLRM.
To analyze the outpatient of the Dental Infirmary Yonsei Medical Center, anthor ruled out the charts of 1,622 patients which were sampled from 18.921 patients among the selected years 1973.1977 and 1981. The results are as follows : 1. By the age-group the twenties and thirties were about 50% of the total patients. 2. According to the analysis by the district, the distance from residence was most influencial to select the hospital. 3. The frequency of the patient by the service departments, many patients wanted oral sugery tretment, and operative & periodontic tretments followed, And there were some necessities of dental health education for the early care and the protective tretment. 4. Of the season, there were more patients in Summer and Winter, especially in July and August than Spring and Autumn. It might be related with the vacations. 5. The ratio of professor's and general patients, were decreasing compared with the data of three selected years, and the fact might be studied to improve for the better quality of service, even the application of the medical and dental insurance is getting wider.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate digital interventions on psychological well-being in patients with cancer through an integrated review. Methods: Fifteen studies were selected using PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, DBpia, and RISS. The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network was used by two reviewers to evaluate independently the quality of the selected articles. Results: Digital interventions for improving psychological well-being in cancer patients were most often based on cognitive behavioral therapy alone or a combination of interventions with professionals and other patients. In addition, a number of interventions were established on internet-based mindfulness therapy. Conclusions: Providing cognitive behavioral intervention alone did not significantly improve the level of depression or anxiety of patients with cancer. Meanwhile, interventions, including cognitive behavior therapy and interactions with professionals and other patients, were found to reduce significantly the level of depression or anxiety in the experimental group.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of music therapy on state anxiety and pain among patients undergoing burn dressing changes. Method: A convenience sample of 32 adult burn patients who were eligible and provided consent were included in the study which was a quasi-experimental study of a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Fifteen patients in the control group received the routine burn dressing changes but 17 patients in the experimental group listened to self-selected music through headphones connected to a CD player during burn dressing changes for three days. All subjects of the music group chose the type of music that would relax them. Before and after burn dressing changes, subjects completed the State Anxiety Inventory and self-report of pain scores. Result: There was a significant reduction in state anxiety before and after burn dressing changes in those who received music therapy in contrast to those who did not receive music therapy. The music group reported lower pain scores before and after burn dressing changes than did the non-music group. Conclusion: These findings indicate that music therapy composed of self-selected music is a valuable intervention for the treatment of pain and anxiety in patients undergoing burn dressing changes.
