  • Purpose Financial technology, also known as FinTech, is conceptually defined as a new type of financial service which is combined with information technology and other traditional financial services like payments, investments, financing, insurance, asset management and so on. Most of the studies on FinTech services have been conducted from the viewpoint of technical issues or legal and institutional studies, and few studies are conducted from the health belief perspectives and security behavior approaches. In this regard, this study suggest an extended information protection behavior model. Design/Methodology/Approach The Health Belief Model (HBM), the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), and the Technology Threat Avoidance Theory (TTAT) were employed to identify constructs relevant to information protection behavior of FinTech services. A new extended information protection behavior model in which the influence factors of information protection behavior (i.e., perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, subjective norms) affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, leading to information protection behavior of FinTech users eventually. This study developed an extended information protection behavior model to explain the protection behavior intention in FinTech users and collected 272 survey responses from the mobile users who had experiences with such mobile payments and FinTech services. • This study attempts to find out what kind of service quality is considered important by customers in using the Internet shopping mall and suggests the way to activate the customer relationship. The findings based on empirical analysis are shown here. First, empirical analysis of the contextual factors such as gender, education, and experience levels, shows that what customers perceive as most important in the product purchase is security in terms of the payment and personal information service. The second important service quality factor perceived by customers is responsiveness, particularly the rapidity and accuracy of response to their needs and wants. The customers also considered price, quality and diversity of the product as being important. Furthermore, there is no big difference among other service quality factors. Second, in the different gender context, there is no significant difference between the genders. However, the male group shows an even distribution of factors valued in the service quality, whereas female respondents placed stronger emphases on particular aspects of service, such as security, response, reliability and product quality. Third, in the context of different education level, the payment method between graduates and non-graduates has a significant difference. That is, the non-graduates prefer the credit card and saving through ATM, while the graduates use dual payment method using credit card and another payment method together. Therefore, the various payment methods should be considered according to the customer type, namely graduates or non-graduates. Fourth, in the context of different experience level, the result of the empirical analysis of the factors of the service quality shows no great difference between experienced and inexperienced customers. Both types of customer perceive security as the most important. To sum up, the service quality perceived by the customers of Internet shopping malls is empirically analyzed in different contexts such as gender, education, and experience. Then, the device for the customer relationship activation is suggested. It can be utilized as a guideline for the continuing diffusion of the Internet shopping mall, giving it a competitive advantage against other companies.

  • This paper conducts a qualitative policy analysis of current challenges to safety culture and security culture in Southeast Asia and emerging best practices in Northeast Asia that are aimed at strengthening both cultures. It analyses lessons, including strengths and limitations, that can be derived from Northeast Asian states, given the long history of nuclear energy in South Korea, China and Japan. It identifies and examines best practices from Northeast Asia's Nuclear Security Centres of Excellence in terms of boosting nuclear security culture and their relevance for Southeast Asia. The paper accentuates the important role of the State in adopting policy and regulatory frameworks and in institutionalising nuclear education and training programmes to deepen the safety-security cultures. Best practices in and challenges to developing a nuclear safety culture and a security culture in East Asia are examined using three frameworks of analysis (i) a comprehensive nuclear policy framework; (ii) a proactive and independent regulatory body; and (iii) holistic nuclear education and training programmes. The paper argues that Southeast Asian states interested in harnessing nuclear energy and/or utilising radioactive sources for non-power applications must develop a comprehensive policy framework on developing safety and security cultures, a proactive regulatory body, and holistic nuclear training programmes that cover both technical and human factors. Such measures are crucial in order to mitigate human errors that may lead to radiological accidents and nuclear security crises. Key lessons from Japan, South Korea and China such as best practices and challenges can inform policy recommendations for Southeast Asia in enhancing safety-security cultures.

  • As the demand for Internet of Things(IoT) increases, the need for the security of IoT devices is increasing steadily. It is difficult to apply the conventional security theory to IoT devices because IoT devices are subject to be constrained by some factors such as hardware, processor, and energy. Nowadays we have several security guidelines and related documents on IoT device. Most of them, however, do not consider the characteristics of specific IoT devices. Since they describes the security issues comprehensively, it is not easy to explain the specific security level reflecting each characteristics of IoT devices. In addition, most existing guidelines and related documents are described in view of developers and service proposers, and thus ordinary users are not able to assess whether a specific IoT device can protect their information securely or not. We propose an security evaluation model, based on the existing guidelines and related documents, for more specific IoT devices and prove that this approach is more convenient to ordinary users by creating checklists for the smart watch.
