  • The concept of time-space to be seen in the modem society has complex features at the points of scientific, philosophical, artistic, religious point of view. It has been brought up at a points of neo centric religious, philosophical view and then after, phenomenal approach and scientific approach were rendered through Newton and Einstein and so many scholar approaches affected the artistic field significantly. With such visual expression, it has affected the paintings for a long time till the 19th century, and then has affected various fields such as photography, film, video, computer, architecture and has currently affected the various space expressive of our daily lives and virtual space of digital. This study is to extract a visual and expressionistic characteristic through historical examination and multi-scholar analysis of time-space concept. Especially, by expanding the previous time and space concept, experimental cases and expressionistic characteristics has come up on the media art that offers various experience and by analyzing the expressionistic characteristics of the time-space concept expressed in media art, it is to extract the basic factors for the diversity of space experience.

PRACTICAL MODELLING OF STONE-COLUMN REINFORCED GROUND

  • The acceleration of consolidation by stone columns was mostly analysed within the framework of a basic unit cell model (i.e. a cylindrical soil body around a column). A method of converting the axisymmetric unit cell into the equivalent plane-strain model would be required for two-dimensional numerical modelling of multi-column field applications. This paper proposes two practical simplified conversion methods to obtain the equivalent plane-strain model of the unit cell, and investigates their applicability to multi-column reinforced ground. In the first conversion method, the soil permeability is matched according to an analytical equation, whereas in the second method, the column width is matched based on the equivalence of column area. The validity of these methods is tested by comparison with the numerical results of unit-cell simulations and with the field data from an embankment case history. The results show that for the case of linear-elastic material modelling, both methods produce reasonably accurate long-term consolidation settlements, whereas for the case of elasto-plastic material modelling, the second method is preferable as the first one gives erroneously lower long-term settlements, where plastic yielding of stone column are ignored.

  • Cue words and phrases of critical sentences, Paradigms knowing the critical information between sentences, Rules extracting the sentences contained critical information and producing the critical sentences were made to construct the critical abstract of scholar journals in the web environment. The ontology aided to accomplish above works were designed, to manage and operate the cue words and phrases in documents and the symptoms related to Purpose, Method, Result, and Conclusion sentences. The results of performance test remarked to improve the advancement of extraction and production rules and the reinforcement of ontology's relationship.

Incidence of Iron Deficiency Anemia in Day Scholar University Girls as Affected by Socioeconomic Status

  • Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the world's most common nutritional problem. It is characterized by a low hemoglobin (Hb) level and low iron status. A study was conducted to investigate the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in day scholar girls belonging to different socioeconomic strata at Punjab University, Lahore. Iron status of the subjects was estimated by measuring Hb, hematocrit (Hct), red blood cell (RBC) count, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCR), serum iron, serum ferritin, total protein and albumin. Results indicated that females belonging to low socioeconomic strata had lower values for Hb, Hct, RBC count, total protein and albumin. Serum iron, serum ferritin, MCV and MCH values fell within the normal range for all of the socioeconomic groups. However, serum iron and ferritin varied with socioeconomic status and higher-income groups had significantly higher serum iron and ferritin. It was concluded that anemia may develop due to poor intake and absorption of iron and that those in the low-income bracket are the most affected group.

An Entity-centric Integrated Search System Using URI (URI를 이용한 개체 중심적 통합 검색 시스템)

  • To overcome the limitation of keyword-based integrated search, this study shows entity-centric integrated search method using URI scheme. Our system generates entity pages in ways of analyzing user's keyword and instances matched with it, selecting optimal entity type, and calling unit services simultaneously. Topic information extracted from articles is propagated to persons, institutions, and locations by reasoning for providing topic-centric information. With comparative experiments based on search results and usability tests, we proved that this approach is superior to keyword-based integrated search served by CiteSeer and Google Scholar.

  • Pungsu is can be seen as an ecological architectural science regarding native natural environment of east asia. Even though the language used in Pungsu is different from that of ecological architecture, Pungsu considered the surrounding environment of the traditional house by various Pungsu method for making and keeping more healthy life and sustainable environment. The research is for finding out how the surrounding natural environment was considered with Pungsu, a traditional ecological architectural science in case of site selection and planning house by the confucian scholar in Joseon period. Myungjae Yunjung traditional house of Nonsan in the middle of korea is selected. He is one of the greatest confucian scholar in Joseon period. The study is processed as follows. Feature of mountain expressed as dragon and four important hills of the house are analyzed in chapter 2, Water environment is studied and the geomantic landscape are analyzed by shape theory called Hyung-guk-Lon in chapter 3, 4. Finally Pungsu applied in architectural space is analyzed in chapter 5.

  • The purpose of this review is to summarize current knowledge regarding animal sarcopenia and frailty models and their diagnosis indexes. In addition, we introduce the effects of exercise interventions on sarcopenia and frailty syndrome. Data collection and analysis (fifteen published articles from 2005~2017) were conducted by using keywords' sarcopenia index, frailty index, exercise and mice, and so on' in academic search engines such as Google scholar and Pubmed. Sarcopenia and frailty are the representative syndromes in elderly peoples which those symptoms can be effectively prevented or delayed by extremely adjusted long term exercise interventions (The combined oxidative and resistant exercise program might be ideal.).
