  • Allocation and management of the resource is very important in wireless networks because the wireless resource is limited. Therefore, the importance of designing cross layer, which adapt between different layers, is on the rise. In this paper, we investigate the scheduling techniques of the cross layer. This paper researches conventional scheduling methods and proposes the complementary scheduling method. On multimedia environment, the scheduling method must be applied variably because of offering variable services. Therefore, this paper proposes the new scheduling method according to the variable services. The proposed method shows that utility efficiency of the wireless resource more excellent than the conventional method through the simulations.

  • In third world countries like Pakistan, the production of electricity has been quickly reduced in past years due to rely on the fossil fuel. According to a survey conducted in 2017, the overall electrical energy capacity was 22,797MW, since the electrical grids have gone too old, therefore the efficiency of grids, goes down to nearly 17000MW. Significant addition of fossil fuel, hydro and nuclear is 64.2%, 29% and 5.8% respectively in the total electricity production in Pakistan. In 2018, the demand crossed 20,223MW, compared to peak generation of 15,400 to 15,700MW as by the Ministry of Water and Power. Country faces a deficit of almost 4000MW to 5000MW for the duration of 2019 hot summer term. Focus on one aspect considering Demand Side Management (DSM) cannot oversea the reduction of gap between power demand and customer supply, which eventually leads to the issue of load shedding. Hence, a scheduling scheme is proposed in this paper called RPSMDSM that is based on selection of those appliances that need to be only Turned-On, on priority during peak hours consuming minimum energy. The Home Energy Management (HEM) system is integrated between consumer and utility and bidirectional flow is presented in the scheme. During peak hours of electricity, the RPSMDSM is capable to persuade less power consumption and accomplish productivity in load management. Simulations show that RPSMDSM scheme helps in scheduling the electricity loads from peak price to off-peak price hours. As a result, minimization in electricity cost as well as (Peak-to-Average Ratio) PAR are accomplished with sensible waiting time.

  • As mega-sized and complex building construction projects are on the rise, the importance of project scheduling and control is being highlighted. Project scheduling and control techniques are not yet widely used in Korea, but interest in these has progressively been increasing. Until now, most research projects have mainly focused on scheduling issues, but project progress management is of equal importance. In this research, the current state of project progress management in Korea is analyzed, and ways for improvement are suggested. We begin by analyzing previous research and practical studies in this field, and then survey experts about the current state of project progress management. This study suggests the Building Information Modeling (BIM)base project progress management method for quantitative and qualitative project progress analysis. Currently, BIM is applied to design, construction and maintenance for construction projects. BIM can also contribute to improving accuracy and understanding of the current project situation.

  • The construction environment is dynamic in nature and is characterized by various degrees of uncertainties. The uncertainties such as lack of coordination, non availability of resources, condition of temporary structures and varying weather conditions have a significant impact on estimating the duration of activities. These are subjective, vague and imprecisely defined and are expressed in subjective measures rather than mathematical terms. Conventionally, various quantitative techniques such as CPM and PERT have emerged in construction industry. These techniques cannot solve the above problems and rely on human experts which may not always be possible. In such situations Artificial Intelligence tools such as fuzzy sets and neural networks handle such variables and provide global strategies. The present paper evaluates the effect of qualitative factors to identify the activity duration using new intelligent approach. The results are compared with conventional methods for effective project management. A case study is considered to demonstrate the applicability of fuzzy logic for project scheduling.

  • Population learning algorithm (PLA) is a population-based method that was inspired by the similarities to the phenomenon of social education process in which a diminishing number of individuals enter an increasing number of learning stages. The study aims to develop a framework that repeatedly applying the PLA to solve the discrete resource constrained project scheduling problem with two objectives: minimizing project makespan and renewable resource availability, which are two most common concerns of management when a project is being executed. The PLA looping framework will provide a number of near Pareto optimal schedules for the management to make a choice. Different improvement schemes and learning procedures are applied at different stages of the process. The process gradually becomes more and more sophisticated and time consuming as there are less and less individuals to be taught. An experiment with ProGen generated instances was conducted, and the results demonstrated that the looping framework using PLA outperforms those using genetic local search, particle swarm optimization with local search, scatter search, as well as biased sampling multi-pass algorithm, in terms of several performance measures of proximity. However, the diversity using spread metric does not reveal any significant difference between these five looping algorithms.

  • In this paper, to achieve consistency maintenance as well as stable service execution, we build a Fault-Tolerant Object Group framework that provides both of the group management service and the load scheduling service. The group management service supports the object management such as registration and authentication, and provides two schemes for failure recovery using the service priority and the checkpointing. In the load scheduling servile, we improve the effectiveness of service execution through the reasoning process of object loads based on the ANFIS architecture. The effectiveness in the performance of the developed framework is validated through a virtual home-network simulation based on the FTOG framework.

  • The time slot scheduling problem for a satellite cluster with an arbitrary number of satellite is considered, which is one of the most interesting problems in the satellite communication scheduling area. This problem is known to be NP-complete, and several heuristic algorithms have been proposed. In this paper, a new efficient algorithm is suggested, which has lower computational complexity and provides much better solution than other existing algorithms.

  • This paper deals with the sequencing problem in the operation of the manufacturing systems with the constraint of buffer capacity. Some of studies for this theme have been progressed for several years. And then most of them considered only one objective, such as maximum lateness, machine utilization, makespan, mean flowtime and so on. This study deal with two objectives of the delivery for customers and the idle time of machines for producers. For the decision of sequence, the utility function is used. The developed heuristic algorithm presents a good solution. Through a numerical example, the procedures of the job sequencing is explained.

  • In this paper, we consider a two-agent scheduling with sequence-dependent exponential learning effects consideration, where two agents A and B have to share a single machine for processing their jobs. The objective function for agent A is to minimize the total completion time of jobs for agent A subject to a given upper bound on the objective function of agent B, representing the makespan of jobs for agent B. By assuming that the learning ratios for all jobs are the same, we suggest an enumeration-based backward allocation scheduling for finding an optimal solution and exemplify it by using a small numerical example. This problem has various applications in production systems as well as in operations management.
