  • In the TV broadcasting, movie production and business the transportation of video between creators (programmers, studios) and distributors (broadcast and cable networks, cable and satellites companies) is still a mix of File Transfer Protocol (FTP), physical delivery, and expensive multicast satellite. Cloud-based file sync-and-share providers like Dropbox and box are playing an increasing role, but the industry's unique demands for speed and multicasting have fueled the growth of IP Video transport. This paper gives a solid grasp of the major elements of IP video technology, including content preparation, system architecture alternatives and network performance management.

  • In this paper, preliminary results for design of prototype ADS-ADS-B/TIS-B Validation Testbed (AVT) are described. Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS-B) is a novel surveillance concept using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and a digital datalink. Air traffic information from ADS-B non-equipped aircraft is not acquired since ADS-B is a dependent surveillance. Traffic Information Service-Broadcast (TIS-B) provides surveillance data from Secondary surveillance Radar (SSR) for ADS-B non-equipped aircraft. AVT is based on ADS-B and TIS-B as an integrated platform for air traffic surveillance system for CNS/ATM.

  • Every time laboratory in the world follows an international standard time scale and GPS (Global Positioning System) is playing an important role. Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science is also operating a permanent GPS station for time transfer. To improve the accuracy and precision of the clock offsets derived from GPS we used carrier phase measurements. In addition, we tested four different kinds of GPS satellite orbits and compared the results. The precision of the time offsets using rapid and ultra-rapid orbits was about 0.5 nanoseconds (ns). Tn the case of broadcast orbits, the precision was better than 2 ns.

  • A neat prefect stable random access protocol for a broadcast channel, the distributed queuing random access protocol(DQRAP)is presented and evaluated. The DQRAP prootcol utilizes minisolts to provide termaty chan-nel feedback and two distributed queues to:9a) resolve contention and (b) to schedute the transmission of messages.Three minislots are sufficient to resolve collisions faster than the tranmission times of all inboled mecages.Three minislots are suffcient to resolve collisions faster than the tranmission times of all inbolved arrivals when ternary minislot feedback is used.Modelingand simulation indicate that the DQRAP protocol, using as few as three minislits, achives a performance level which approaches that of hypothetical perfect cheduling protocol,ie,the M/D/I system, with respect to propagation delay, thus offers the potential of improved performance over current protocols in satellite, metropolitan and packet radio networks.

  • NeQuick G is the ionosphere model utilized by Galileo single-frequency users to estimate the ionospheric delay on each user-satellite link. The model is characterized by the effective ionization level (Az) index, determined by a modified dip latitude (MODIP) and broadcast coefficients derived from daily global space weather observations. However, globally fitted Az coefficients may not accurately represent ionosphere within local area. This study introduces a method for regional ionospheric modeling that searches for locally optimized Az coefficients. This approach involves fitting TEC output from NeQuick G to TEC data collected from GNSS stations around Korea under various ionospheric conditions including different seasons and both low and high solar activity phases. The optimized Az coefficients enable calculation of the Az index at any position within a region of interest, accounting for the spatial variability of the Az index in a polynomial function of MODIP. The results reveal reduced TEC estimation errors, particularly during high solar activity, with a maximum reduction in the RMS error by 85.95%. This indicates that the proposed method for NeQuick G can effectively model various ionospheric conditions in local areas, offering potential applications in GNSS performance analyses for local areas by generating various ionospheric scenarios.

  • There are several data broadcasting standards that the developers should apply when develops any interactive digital TV contents. In Korea, we adopts ACAP(Advanced Common Application Platform) as terrestrial data broadcasting standard, MHP(Multimedia Home Platform) fur satellite data broadcasting and OCAP(OpenCable Application Platform) for cable data broadcasting. Therefore, content providers must develop different applications which suited for different standards - even if the application is exactly same. This is waste of time and energy. This paper suggests a solution to solve this problem among different broadcasting platforms - MHP, OCAP and ACAP. We compared these specifications, and found out what APIs are typically used far applications. Then we designed XML file structures that can be used to define contents of applications. We also implemented an authoring tool which automatically generates XML files by interaction with users. This paper also ascertains Xlet applications, produced by the authoring tool, works properly on each different data broadcasting standard - MHP, OCAP and ACAP.

  • In digital broadcasting, services such as digital satellite TV, cable TV and digital terrestrial TV, several video programs are compressed by MPEG-2, and then simultaneously transmitted over a conventional CBR (Constant Bit Rate) broadcasting channel. In this paper, we propose a joint quality control scheme to be able to accurately control the relative picture quality among the video programs, which is achieved by simdt;,nL'Ously controlling the video encoders to generate the VBR (Variable Bit Rate) compressed video streams. Our quality control scheme can prevent the video buffer overflow and underflow by total target bit allocation process, and also exactly control the relative picture quality in terms of PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) between some programs requiring higher picture quality and others by rate-distortion modification. Furthermore we present a rate-distortion estimation method for MPEG-2 video, which is base of our joint quality control, and verify its performance by experiments. The most attractive features of this estimation method are as follows: 1) computational complexity is low because main operation for the estimation is to calculate the histogram of OCT coefficients into quantizer; 2) estimation results are very accurate enough to be applied to the practical MPEG-2 video coding applications. Simulation results show that the proposed joint quality control scheme accurately controls the relative picture quality among the video progran1s transmitted over a single channel as well as provides more consistent and higher picture quality than independent coding scheme that encodes each program independently.

  • In this paper, DLKF (Deep Learning Keypoint Filtering), the deep learning-based keypoint filtering method for the rapidization of the image registration method for remote sensing images is proposed. The complexity of the conventional feature-based image registration method arises during the feature matching step. To reduce this complexity, this paper proposes to filter only the keypoints detected in the artificial structure among the keypoints detected in the keypoint detector by ensuring that the feature matching is matched with the keypoints detected in the artificial structure of the image. For reducing the number of keypoints points as preserving essential keypoints, we preserve keypoints adjacent to the boundaries of the artificial structure, and use reduced images, and crop image patches overlapping to eliminate noise from the patch boundary as a result of the image segmentation method. the proposed method improves the speed and accuracy of registration. To verify the performance of DLKF, the speed and accuracy of the conventional keypoints extraction method were compared using the remote sensing image of KOMPSAT-3 satellite. Based on the SIFT-based registration method, which is commonly used in households, the SURF-based registration method, which improved the speed of the SIFT method, improved the speed by 2.6 times while reducing the number of keypoints by about 18%, but the accuracy decreased from 3.42 to 5.43. Became. However, when the proposed method, DLKF, was used, the number of keypoints was reduced by about 82%, improving the speed by about 20.5 times, while reducing the accuracy to 4.51.
