  • This study presents the new dispatching rules for improving performance measures of job shop scheduling related to completion time and due dates. The proposed dispatching rule considers information, which includes the comparison value of job workload, work remaining, operation time, and operation due dates. Through computer experiments, the performance of the new dispatching rules is compared and analyzed with the existing rules. The results provide a guidance for the researchers to develop new dispatching rules and for practitioners to choose rules of job shop scheduling.

  • Recently, there are studies the argument that arithmetic rules established by the four fundamental arithmetic operations, in other words, commutative laws, associative laws, distributive laws, should be explicitly described in mathematics textbooks and the curriculum. These rules are currently implicitly presented or omitted from textbooks, but they contain important principles that foster mathematical thinking. This study aims to evaluate the current level of understanding of these computation rules and provide implications for the curriculum and textbook writing. To this end, the correct answer ratio of the five arithmetic rules for 1-4 grades 398 in five elementary schools was investigated and the type of error was analyzed and presented, and the subject to learn these rules and the points to be noted in teaching and learning were also presented. These results will help to clarify the achievement criteria and learning contents of the calculation rules, which were implicitly presented in existing national textbooks, in a new 2022 revised curriculum.

  • Fuzzy rules are often obtained by experts who know an objective system well. fuzzy rules acquired by experts, however, do not express all input-output relations of the system. This paper proposes a method fuzzy rules are expressed in plain language so that the fuzzy rules are understood easily. The proposed method is applied to the control of the distance between cars and running through a crank-typed road, and the validity of the method is confirmed.

  • Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given database. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. There are three primary quality measures for association rule, support and confidence and lift. In this paper we present association rule mining based antecedent variables. We call these rules to antecedent association rules. An antecedent variable is a variable that occurs before the independent variable and the dependent variable.

  • Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given large data set. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. There are three primary threshold measures in association rule; support and confidence and lift. In the case of appling real world to association rules, we have some difficulties in data interpretation because we obtain many rules. In this paper, we develop the model of association rules using latent variables for environmental survey data.

  • Conflicting or inconsistent rules sometimes help us to represent the control actions of an expert more freely. Also, uncertainties about the control actions of the expert may render rules with conclusions whore membership functions have different width in their shapes. Conventional inference methods for FLC may not effectively handle such inconsistencies and/or rules containing such conclusions. In this paper, an effective inference method dealing with such If-Then rules is proposed.

  • This paper demonstrates how composite-exponential-fitting interpolation rules can be constructed to fit an oscillatory function using not only pointwise values of that function but also of that functions's derivative on a closed and bounded interval of interest. This is done in the framework of exponential-fitting techniques. These rules extend the classical composite cubic Hermite interpolating polynomials in the sense that they become the classical composite polynomials as a parameter tends to zero. Some examples are provided to compare the newly constructed rules with the classical composite cubic Hermite interpolating polynomials (or recently developed interpolation rules).

  • A novel digital signal processing technique based on fuzzy rules is proposed for estimating nonstationary signals, such as image signals, contaminated with additive random noises. In this filter, fuzzy rules are utilized to set the filter parameters, taking the local characteristics of the signal into consideration. The introduction of the fuzzy rules is effective, since the rules to set the filter parameters is usually expressed ambiguously. Computer simulations verify its high performance.

  • Within the framework of prosodic phonology (or the theory of phonology-syntax connection), the rhythm unit is not regarded as a domain of phonological rules. But I argue in this paper that the rhythm unit functions as a domain of phonological rules in Korean. I discuss five phonological rules whose domain of application is the rhythm unit.
