  • It is demonstrated that the torque performance of the flux barrier type synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) can be improved in terms of geometric parameters. Torque ana power factor are related to the difference of inductances and the saliency ratio. And these inductance characteristics are determined by the geometric parameters of rotor: the number of layers. the width of iron to the width of flux barrier($K_w$). slot number and shape, airgap, bridge, etc. The relationship between geometric parameters. especially, $K_w$ and motor performance will be studied. This paper shows that torque and power factor are improved through redesign with considering geometric parameters. Performance comparisons of proto type SynRM and improved SynRM are given by FEA(Finite Element Analysis).

  • This paper presents a analysis solutions for the general class of iron-cored Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) with vertical topologies. In our design and analysis, rotor consisting of permanent magnets and slot less iron-cored coil stator are treated in a uniform way via vector potential. For one such motor structure, we give analytical formulas for its magnetic field by permanent magnet and current coil and variation of the Back-EMF and magnetization inductance according to coil turns.

  • A turbogenertor without damper cage is divided into five regions according to compoding materials in the radial direcrion. And the electric and magnetic field of each region in the subsynchronous resonance (SSR) phenomena is analyzed in this paper. The analytical method is based on solving a boundary value problem involving a three-dimensional magnetic diffrsion equation and the basic function consists of the double Fourier series. And the electrical characteristics of the material and kthickness of the wedges inserted in slot of the region III, which is dependent on frequency, is to be investigated.

  • This paper presents design of speed control system for slot less air-cored PM linear synchronous motor using space vector PWM. The vector control requires information about rotor position. And we can need to the Hall sensor for sampling current. In order to agree with this purpose, Digital Signal Processor(TMS320F2406A) developed for implementation of a speed Field Oriented Control.

  • This paper proposes an optimized universal motor for improving its performance using the finite element method (FEM) with the (1+1) Evolution Strategy (ES) algorithm. To do this, various design parameters are modified, such as air gap length, shape of motor slot, pole shoe, pole width, and rotor shaft diameter. Two parameters (arc length of stator pole and thickness of pole shoe) are chosen and optimized using the program, and the optimized model is built and tested with a performance measuring system. The measured values of the model are compared with those of the initial and the optimized model to prove the algorithm. As a result, the final model improves its performance compared with those of the initial model.

  • In this paper, the optimal design of notch and barrier was carried out in order to improve characteristics of constant torque with minimizing the cogging torque occurred by teeth and slot structure. Optimized design was carried out by design of experiment and various characteristics including torque were studied by finite element method(FEM). In addition, in order to verify resonance frequency, natural frequency of the stator was analyzed by modal analysis.

  • This paper presents design of speed control system for slot less iron-cored PM linear synchronous motor using space vector PWM. the design must be considered by the useable limits of the DC link voltage and dynamic operating rage as well as the characteristics of design parameters in a point of system. Therefore, in this paper, the permissible operating range of manufactured motor by determination of rate speed and rate thrust according to switching scheme of DC link voltage are offered. The vector control requires information about rotor position. And we can need to the Hall sensor for sampling current. In order to agree with this purpose, Digital Signal Processor(TMS320F240x) developed for implementation of a speed Field Oriented Control.

  • In this paper, the design and field analysis of the novel axial flux type permanent magnet(AFPM) motor with double stator and single rotor are investigated. The various design schemes of AFPM based on 3D finite element method are proposed. The effects of slot shapes, various magnetization of PM, and skewing on the cogging torque and average torque have been investigated in detail. From the results, we can improve the cogging torque and average torque characteristics.

  • This paper deals with magnetic field analysis and computation of cogging torque in IPM motor with an analytical method, which is based on the Conformal Mapping technique. The magnetic field is analyzed by solving space harmonic field analysis due to inserted PM magnetizing distribution. Conformal Mapping method is then used for considering the slot opening effect and rotor saliency effect on the air-gap field magnetic distribution. Then, by integrating the field over the stator surface, cogging torque is calculated. The validity of the proposed analytical method is confirmed by comparing the results with 2-D FEA results.

  • This paper describes the flux density in air gap, harmonic torques occurring by inadequate slot combination of induction motor using the fourier series. The analysis uses DFT(Discrete Fourier transform) to analyze harmonic orders of flux density. It is certified that the harmonic flux density has the same result using Fourier series and FEM.
