수평방향의 정현파 가진을 받는 강체 블록의 비선형 록킹진동특성 (Nonlinear Rocking Vibration Characteristics for Rigid Block Subjected to Horizontal Sinusoidal Excitation)

  • This research concentrates on the influence of non-linearities associated with impact for the nonlinear rocking behavior of rigid block subjected to one dimensional sinusoidal excitation of horizontal direction. The transition of two governing rocking equations, the abrupt reduction in the kinetic energy associated with impact, and sliding motion of block. In this study, two type of rocking vibration system are considered. One is the undamped rocking vibration system, disregarding energy dissipation at impact and the other is the damped rocking system, including energy dissipation and sliding motion. The response analysis using non-dimensional rocking equation is carried out for the change of excitation parameters and friction coefficient. The chaos responses were discovered in the wide response region, particularly, for the case of high excitation amplitude and their chaos characteristics were examined by the time history, Poincare map, power spectra and Lyapunov Exponent of rocking responses. The complex behavior of chaos response, in the phase space, were illustrated by Poincare map. The bifurcation diagram and Poincare map were shown to be effective in order to understand chaos of rocking system.

  • This research deals with the non-linearities associated with impact and sliding for the rocking behavior of rigid block subjected to two dimensional excitation of horizontal and vertical direction. The non-linearities examined of impact between block and base: The transition of two governing rocking equations, the abrupt reduction in kinetic energy associated with impact. Chaotic Rocking Vibration of a Rigid Block with Sliding Motion Under Two-Dimensional Harmonic Excitation

  • This research deals with the influence of nonlinearities associated with impact and sliding upon the rocking behavior of a rigid block, which is subjected to two-dimensional horizontal and vertical excitation. Nonlinearities in the vibration were found to depend strongly on the effect of the impact between the block and the base, which involves an abrupt reduction in the system's kinetic energy. In particular, when sliding occurs, the rocking behavior is substantially changed. Response analysis using a non-dimensional rocking equation was carried out for a variety of excitation levels and excitation frequencies. The chaos responses were observed over a wide response region, particularly, in the cases of high vertical displacement and violent sliding motion, and the chaos characteristics appear in the time histories, Poincare maps, power spectra and Lyapunov exponents of the rocking responses. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in phase space, is illustrated by the Poincare map. The distribution of the rocking response is described by bifurcation diagrams and the effects of sliding motion are examined through the several rocking response examples.

Lessons From Unified Germany and Their Implications for Healthcare in the Unification of the Korean Peninsula

  • This study investigated the German experience in the transition to a unified health care system and suggests the following implications for Korea. First, Germany could have made use of the unification process better if there had been a good road map. Therefore Korea must develop a well prepared road map that considers all possible situations. Second, Germany saw an opportunity for the improvement of the health care system in the early stage of unification but could not take advantage of it because the situation changed dramatically and they had not sufficiently prepared for it. Korea should take into account the opportunity for improvement of the present health care system, such as the roles of public health and traditional medicine. Thirdly, the conditions f North Korea seem to be far worse than those of former East Germany and also worse than even those of other transition countries. Therefore Korea should design a long-term road map taking as many variables into account as possible, including the different rigid way of thinking and the interrelationship among the social sectors. Fourthly, during the German reunification unexpected factors changed the direction of the events. Korea should have a separate plan for the unexpected factors.

Dynamic Model to Predict Effect of Race Waviness on Vibrations Associated with Deep-Groove Ball Bearing

  • This paper presents a numerical model for investigating the structural dynamics response of a rigid rotor supported on deep-groove ball bearings. The numerical model was used to investigate the influence of race waviness on the dynamic characteristics of a rotor ball bearing system, which is very important from a design viewpoint. The forth-order Runge-Kutta numerical integration technique was applied to determine the time displacement response, Poincare map, and frequency spectra. The analysis demonstrated that the model can be used as a tool for predicting the nonlinear dynamic behavior of a rotor ball bearing system under different operating conditions. The results of this study may help further understanding of the nonlinear dynamics of a rotor bearing system.

  • This paper presents a new mobile robot localization method for indoor robot navigation. The method uses hexagon distributed color-coded patches on the ceiling and a camera is installed on the robot facing the ceiling to recognize these patches. The proposed "cell-coded map", with the use of only seven different kinds of color-coded landmarks distributed in hexagonal way, helps reduce the complexity of the landmark structure and the error of landmark recognition. This technique is applicable for navigation in an unlimited size of indoor space. The structure of the landmarks and the recognition method are introduced. And 2 rigid rules are also used to ensure the correctness of the recognition. Experimental results prove that the method is useful.

ON THE THEORY OF LORENTZ SURFACES WITH PARALLEL NORMALIZED MEAN CURVATURE VECTOR FIELD IN PSEUDO-EUCLIDEAN 4-SPACE

  • We develop an invariant local theory of Lorentz surfaces in pseudo-Euclidean 4-space by use of a linear map of Weingarten type. We find a geometrically determined moving frame field at each point of the surface and obtain a system of geometric functions. We prove a fundamental existence and uniqueness theorem in terms of these functions. On any Lorentz surface with parallel normalized mean curvature vector field we introduce special geometric (canonical) parameters and prove that any such surface is determined up to a rigid motion by three invariant functions satisfying three natural partial differential equations. In this way we minimize the number of functions and the number of partial differential equations determining the surface, which solves the Lund-Regge problem for this class of surfaces.

  • In this paper, an analytical model is developed to describe the dynamic characteristics of a roller bearing. In order to obtain accurate dynamic response of roller bearing, each roller is modeled as a rigid body, which has radial and axial movement and rotational constraints. Beam element between outer race segments is used to consider flexibility of outer race. Beam deflection is calculated from beam forces and used for contact between roller and outer race. The efficient contact search kinematics and algorithms in the context of the compliance contact model are implemented to detect the interactions between roller and race for the sake of speedy and robust solutions. The numerical results are validated with another analysis results which are calculated using waviness condition. Increasing rollers, dynamic responses are compared with each other. In order to confirm dynamic behavior and nonlinear characteristic of roller bearing, Poincare map is used.

TOF 깊이 카메라와 DSLR을 이용한 복합형 카메라 시스템 구성 방법 (Hybrid Camera System with a TOF and DSLR Cameras)

  • 본 논문은 Time-of-Flight(ToF) 깊이 카메라와 DSLR을 이용한 사진측량 기반의 복합형 카메라시스템 구성방법을 제안한다. ToF 깊이 카메라는 깊이 정보를 실시간으로 출력하는 장점이 있지만 제공되는 명암 영상의 해상도가 낮고 획득한 깊이 정보가 물체의 표면상태에 민감하여 잡음이 발생하는 단점이 있다. 따라서 깊이 카메라를 이용한 입체 모델 생성을 위해선 깊이 정보의 보정과 함께 고해상도 텍스처맵을 제공하는 복합형 카메라의 구성이 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 상대표정을 수행하여 깊이 카메라와 DSLR의 상대적인 기하관계를 추정하고 공선조건식 기반의 역투영식을 이용하여 텍스처매핑을 수행한다. 성능검증을 위해 기존 기법의 모델 정확도와 텍스처매핑 정확도를 비교 분석한다. 실험결과는 제안 기법의 모델 정확도가 더 높았는데 이는 기존 기법이 깊이 카메라의 잡음이 있는 3차원 정보를 기준점으로 사용하여 절대표정을 수행한 반면에 제안 기법은 오차정보가 없는 두 영상간의 공액점을 이용했기 때문이다.
