Down-town community is an essential element for ESSD. But the population of down-town has been decreased since 1990's. Therefore this study is about how to improve the down-town residential tendency through the civic research, examination of related policies and legal system. And the result is as follows. First, Taegu has lots of problems as a residential space, that are caused by bad residential environment. They also, however, represent the validity of arrangement of down-town community and we could find the possibility for development. Second, Japan perceived the importance of down-town community and a great deal of effort was done to save residential space with various programs. But it is ignored in Korea for economic reason. Therefore we need to change our view of Down-town residence. Third, the role of government, people and specialist are important for the improvement of Down-town community. 1) The central government and ask its responsibility. 2) The local government makes the best use of present laws and is required of management with elasticity in favor of the regional character. And it need to set the future image and aim of the city. The aim should be the one that meets the practical need of down-town community and suitable programs need to be activated. 3) Generally, the citizens who are living in a region know it's problems the best. So the citizens themselves can advertise their Down-town community and participate to solve its problems 4) Down-town community requires a differential policy from general residence. Thus the professional have duty for the development of proper know-hows for Down-town community.

High-rise residential complex type is getting important as new town development and urban regeneration in the downtown area. However, literature review of high-rise residential complex and research on satisfaction analysis of real residents are lack. Therefore, this paper is analyzing environmental friendly planning elements of high-rise building as housing subdivision, inside of building, facility, and maintenance by a survey on experts. The purpose of this paper is to suggest improvement method of environmental-friendly planning elements of high-rise residential complex by M-IPA. First, as a result, the part of housing subdivision has to keep complex land utilization, environmental-friendly transportation. Second, the part of inside of building shows that ecological housing subdivision, indoor air environment urgent and indoor temperature environment keeps maintaining. Finally, the part of facility/maintenance shows that material and facility, and index of energy management are urgently needed.
Caused by the Cheonanham attack and the Yeonpyeongdo bombardment occurred a few years ago, and the recent North Korea's nuclear test, the war crisis between South and North Korea has been increasing. Accordingly, an interest in obtaining a temporary residential space, for the case of the outbreak of war, where people can reside safely over a period of time has been escalating. However, in the disaster relief planning guidelines of the National Emergency Management Agency, the standards on the temporary residential spaces in preparation for storm and flood or earthquake are included, but the standards on the ones in responding to war are not yet equipped. In particular, the standards on the underground temporary residential spaces that can accommodate massive victims should be developed in preparation. In this study, through a requirements analysis based on the survey of war victims and a comparative analysis between disaster-related laws and regulations, the direction of relevant system improvement for the utilization of temporary residential spaces in responding to war is established.
This study aims to analyze the changes of adjacent residential area after the restoration of covered urban streams in seoul. The changes of adjacent residential area after restoration were analyzed by changes of land using, urban structure, individual lot of land and architecture to investigate relationship of the urban stream and residential change. The result as follows: the first one is the change of land use and urban structure in adjacent residential area. This change of infrastructure through stream restoration has transformed land use and urban structure in adjacent residential area. Secondly, there is the changes of the individual lot of land. It seemed that new development by combined lots would be concentrated in stream-side blocks. But, the changes of lots such as combining or dividing lots tend to be concentrated in stream-side, main road and main streets. In stream-side, commercial function of land use has changed to residential one which has restored streams landscape by transformation of lots use without changes of ownership-lots. Finally, there is the change of architecture. It turned out new building in adjacent residential area is similar to general development. However, new building in streamside is related to direction of stream. In addition, remodeling and expansion tend to change in commercial buildings on stream-side bridges of corner lots intensively. As a result, it is related to expectation of architectural activation and improvement of sidewalk environment by stream restoration.
The aim of this study is to find out the solutions for an improvement of residential environment through the relation between satisfaction of residential environment and amenity awareness of the local residents in Chonnam Mokpo city. For this purpose, it is conducted a questionnaire survey of 203 local residents on the attributes of residential environment. The satisfaction factors of residential environment consist of 8 types of factors such as housing structure, stability, green tract of an avenue, convenience, housing environment, sanitary conditions, waterside facilities, and familiarity. It is analyzed that there is a great difference of the satisfaction between new town dwellers and old town dwellers in three satisfaction factors of a housing structure, convenience, and housing environment. The attributes of amenity awareness consist of 6 types of factors such as fitness, comfort, intimacy, vitality, naturalness, and brilliance. The new town dwellers have a high satisfaction in fitness and vitality factors, and the old town dwellers have a high satisfaction in naturalness factors. Through the analysis to the importance on the satisfaction factors of residential environment related to amenity awareness, it is founded that intimacy factor have importance in order of stability, familiarity, green tract of an avenue and sanitary conditions. Naturalness factor have importance in order of stability, waterside facilities, familiarity and green tract of a avenue. Fitness factor have importance in order of housing structure and sanitary conditions. Comfort factor have importance in order of stability, housing environment and sanitary conditions. And vitality factor have importance in order of housing environment, convenience and green tract of an avenue. Therefore, it is needed that the development plan of residential environment take into consideration in accordance with the importance on the satisfaction of residential environment in Mokpo city.
Recently, interest in data analysis has increased, and convergence research through data analysis has been actively conducted in various fields such as engineering, natural science, and social science. In the field of architecture, various studies using data analysis are being conducted, and in particular, efforts are being made to solve the problems in the field of architecture that have been quantitatively expanded through the urbanization process. In this study, data analysis on residential satisfaction of residents in residential environment improvement areas and similar neighborhoods through urban regeneration projects is performed. Through analysis using R for post-residential evaluation elements that are conducted after building construction and occupancy, important evaluation items that affect the satisfaction of the residential environment are identified by analyzing the association rules between each evaluation element and identifying the frequency of major requirements of residents. To grasp. Through this, we intend to conduct convergence research between IT and architecture fields, such as the development of a system that can recommend high-quality residential areas as well as providing data for securing high-quality residential spaces when constructing residential areas in the future.
Citizen participation in local redevelopment has recently been regarded as essential, since progress in democracy and diversified public interests have contributed to more importance being placed on citizen participation in the implementation of public policies. While the importance of resident participation has been increasingly emphasized in principle, in reality more effort is still required in its application. We need to develop practical strategies of collecting community opinion in order to reflect it in public policy, if we are to achieve a resident and citizen-centered society. The purpose of this study is to develop an image map construction tool that can be applied to the "Maul-Mandulgi" projects as a visualized method to facilitate the exchange of opinions and work toward agreements. The tool is intended to assist public discussion by visualizing policies and plans and reducing the possibility of misunderstanding, so that residents can properly respond to the plans. Second, this study will verify the effectiveness of the tool in the application to local community workshops. The main research method is participant observation method and field study. Major findings are as follows, First, every resident who had participated in previous workshops gathered together, used the tool and represented their opinions unusually more than once. Each resident tried to make sure that other participants appropriately understood his or her opinion. The workshop finished when all participants agreed and produced a consensus. The workshop took much less time, which is in stark contrast to previous workshops in which it took significantly more time to collect opinions. Second, it proved that residents in the redevelopment area can strike a broad agreement by themselves on a method and direction for residential improvement. In previous workshops, conflicts between residents developed over the choice between the two methods, of local improvement and total demolition prior to multi-housing construction. In this study, opinions of residents were not limited to the two methods by finding a winwin solution. Third, the use of the tool kit for image map became efficient for inactive residents to develop their own opinions in regard to the direction and orientations of the residential improvement process. In addition, for those who have either no or a slight understanding of the residential improvement projects, the tool can provide access to information and knowledge. This study concludes that the developed tool for imaging of the redevelopment projection like a design game, rather than using forms of text and speech, can be a useful tool in collecting opinions and forming an agreed opinion for forthcoming residential improvement plans.

In this study, the current conditions of the farming and fishing village housing improvement projects that were promoted for the last five years were examined, the results of the survey conducted among the promoters of the farming and fishing village housing improvement projects with regard to their level of satisfaction were analyzed, and the outcomes of the housing improvement projects and the improvement needs were derived for utilization as basic data for preparing an improvement plan for "the farming and fishing village housing improvement projects". Below are the results of this study and the proposals based on such. In view of the reality that the recipients of the farming and fishing village housing improvement projects are limited to the rural residents who are able to repay their loans, ways of actualizing the current loan limit of 60 million won should be prepared, taking into account the actual construction cost. Moreover, as the rural residents do not live on monthly salaries, the repayment periods of their loans should be adjusted to make them payable on a quarterly or a semi-annual basis, reflecting the reality of the farming villages, where loan repayment is based on the residents' yearly income. Further, policies guaranteeing the residential rights of those belonging to the low-income bracket who are unable to repay their loans must be established at the soonest possible time. In view of the realities in the farming villages, where there are 640,000 houses that are over 31 years old, the supply of 10,000 houses as part of the housing improvement projects is grossly inadequate. Of course, it cannot be said that all the residents who are living in worn-out houses have the necessary conditions for receiving support from the housing improvement fund. Therefore, policies supporting the speedy improvement of worn-out houses and guaranteeing the residential rights of those belonging to the low-income bracket are urgently needed.

As public participation in the community issues have expanded, an urban planning paradigm has been changed to the planning with public participation. The role of GIS also expanded to support decision making process for the public in addition to supporting that of decision-makers. Residential Environment Improvement, which is the improvement method of an undeveloped urban area, is to regenerate a community based on public participation. However, the current process of public participation is formal. Therefore the purpose of this study is to lead the public a positive participation in Residential Environment Improvement using GIS. We proposed a web_based PPGIS model including project information service, public opinion expression service, two-way communication service and GIS services, and developed a prototype. This model can be a useful tool to make decision makers, experts and the public share their ideas and communicate each other, and to increase the public participation in planning process.

This study is on the practice and limitation of the environment improvement project in the delinquent residential areas implemented as part of the urban restoration project that this study was carried out with the subject of the Saeddeul Village Project in Balhan Dongmunsan District of Donghae City that is implemented as part of resident-participating urban rehabilitation that has emerged as a socially important issue. In particular, at a time the issues of increasing senior population and poverty resulted thereof have surfaced in the society that this study has taken a look at the characteristics in the planning and practice process in the Saeddeul Village Project area for the purpose of improving the mental health. In the planning process and practice process, those human-care project and resident competency strengthening projects, together with physical environment improvement, are implemented, and the contents implemented by respective project are purported to establish the community identity through voluntary participation of local residents together with the environment improvement of the villages on the basis of resident participation as well as leading the economic independence by the village with its own discretion. However, the limitations in the practice process and exposure of problems that may be experienced in the field have made difficulties in such approach and provokes the difficulties of project performance depending on the conflicts in community constituents. Under such a relationship, it is required to have the endeavors to facilitate the community and solution of issued, and this study presents the need of access for revitalizing the regional welfare system.
