In order to investigate the effect of the height of application point of lateral loads and reinforcing steel bars in walls and columns in improving the seismic behavior of confined concrete block masonry walls, an experimental research program is conducted. A total of four one-half scale specimens are tested under repeated lateral loads. Specimens are tested to failure with increasing maximum lateral drifts while a vertical axial load was applied and maintained constant. The constant vertical axial stresses applied are 0, 0.84 and 1.80MPa, while the amount of reinforcements in horizontal and vertical directions are $0\%,\;0.08\%\;and\;0.18\%$ respectively. Test results obtained for each specimen include cracking patterns, load-deflection data, and strains in reinforcement and walls in critical locations. Analysis of test data showed that above parameters generate a considerable effect on the seismic performance of confined concrete block masonry walls.
In steel plant, load torque of mill driver motor is changed periodically because working state and idle state are repeated and load current of working state is necessarily higher than rated motor current. The over current limiter is one of the basic thermal protection method from over heating. In this paper, we analyzed the structure of over current limiter for motor and motor driver systems, developed over current limiter with same operation and structured warning system of action of over current limiter. As using this warning system, we can avoid abrupt plant stop by over current limiter in mill driver and lessen producing loss by plant stop. The developed warning system of action of over current limiter is exactly inspected by computer simulation md analysis of acquired data.

This paper presents the results of the repeated sliding tests to determine the wear-life of TiN coated AISI 52100 bearing balls deposited by PVD method and to show the wear mechanisms of those. The sliding tests were carried out using a ball-on-disk tribometer under ambient conditions. The coefficient of friction, wear volume and the cycles to failures of TiN coated bearing balls were measured with different normal loads and roughness of lower specimens. On the wear-life diagram, the normal loads and the cycles to failure showed the good linear relation on log-log coordinate. With a decreasing normal load, the diagram showed that the wear-limits, at which the coated bearing balls survived more than 4000cycles were under 0.1N of the normal load.

This research was designed to investigate biomechanical aspects of the evolution based on the hypothesis of dynamic cooperative interactions between the locomotion pattern and the body shape in the evolution of human bipedal walking The musculoskeletal model used in the computer simulation consisted of 12 rigid segments and 26 muscles. The nervous system was represented by 18 rhythmic pattern generators. The genetic algorithm was employed based on the natural selection theory to represent the evolutionary mechanism. Evolutionary strategy was assumed to minimize the cost function that is weighted sum of the energy consumption, the muscular fatigue and the load on the skeletal system. The simulation results showed that repeated manipulations of the genetic algorithm resulted in the change of body shape and locomotion pattern from those of chimpanzee to those of human. It was suggested that improving locomotive efficiency and the load on the musculoskeletal system are feasible factors driving the evolution of the human body shape and the bipedal locomotion pattern. The hypothetical evolution method employed in this study can be a new powerful tool for investigation of the evolution process.

As the climate changes rapidly due to warming, it is becoming very important to ensure the stability of environmental structures. It is necessary to choose a material that withstands repeated external forces (wind loads) and satisfies members and joints that have energy absorbing power. Even if the strength of the traffic light attachment is sufficient, if the rigidity is insufficient, there is a limit to the displacement during strong winds. Excessive deformation may cause damage and fall, resulting in a safety accident. The author intends to study mechanical properties and resistance to external environment as a structural material capable of withstanding wind load (50m/sec) by fabricating a C/GFRP composite traffic light attachment using the pultrusion method (Pultrusion).

This paper presents a quasi-static optimization technique for elastic structures under dynamic loads. An equivalent static load (ESL) set is defined as a static load set which generates the same displacement field as that from a dynamic load at a certain time. Multiple ESL sets calculated at every time step are employed to represent the various states of the structure under the dynamic load. They can cover every critical state that might happen at an arbitrary time. Continuous characteristics of dynamic load are simulated by multiple discontinuous ones of static loads. The calculated sets of ESLs are applied as a multiple loading condition in the optimization process. A design cycle is defined as a circulated process between an analysis domain and a design domain. Design cycles are repeated until a design converges. The analysis domain gives a loading condition necessary for the design domain. The design domain gives a new updated design to be verified by the analysis domain in the next design cycle. This iterative process is quite similar to that of the multidisciplinary optimization technique. Even though the global convergence cannot be guaranteed, the proposed technique makes it possible to optimize the structures under dynamic loads. It has also applicability, flexibility, and reliability.
Train runs on high speed and the concrete track is constructed. Rail fastening device needs to reduce elasticity, transferred load, noise, and vibration etc. Consequently, low elastic pad has a great impact of the durability and stability of the track. In this study, discussed in previous studies, static numerical analysis and real scale repeated loading test, followed by dynamic response analysis were implemented. The most distinctive characteristics of the model proposed is to simulate the real wheel behavior on rail. And the main analysis object is to evaluate and compare the deformation characteristics of the transition track while load reduction effect of transfer on roadbed assessed by various low elastic pad.
The reinforced-roadbed materials composed of crushed stones are used for preventing vertical deformation and reducing impact load caused by highspeed train. Repeated load application can induce deformation in the reinforced-roadbed layer so that it causes irregularity of track. Thus it is important to understand characteristics of permanent deformation in the reinforced-subbase materials. The characteristics of permanent deformation can be simulated by prediction model that can be obtained by performing repetitive triaxial test. The prediction model of permanent deformation is a key-role in construction of design method of track. The prediction model of permanent deformation is represented in usual as the hyperbolic function with increase of number of load repetition. The prediction model is sensitive to many factors including stress level etc. so that it is important to define parameters of the model as clearly as possible. Various data obtained from repetitive triaxial test and resonant column test using the reinforced-roadbed of crushed stone are utilized to develop a new prediction model based on concept of shear-stress ratio and elastic modulus. The new prediction model of permanent deformation can be adapted for developing design method of track in the future.

In order to investigate the effect of the height of application point of lateral loads and reinforcing steel bars in walls and columns in improving the seismic behavior of confined concrete block masonry walls, an experimental research program is conducted. A total of twelve one-half scale specimens are tested under repeated lateral loads. Specimens are tested to failure with increasing maximum lateral drifts while a vertical axial load was applied and maintained constant. The specimens adopted are two-dimensional (2D) hollow concrete block masonry walls with different parameters such as shear span ratio, inflection point and percent of reinforcement in confining columns and walls. Test results obtained for each specimen include cracking patterns, load-deflection curve, and strains in reinforcement and walls in critical locations. Analysis of test data showed that above parameters generate a considerable effect on the seismic performance of confined concrete block masonry walls.
In this paper, we develop a durability test method that can verify the noise caused by the repeated load on the door trim grip handle. The test method was developed in consideration of the load mode and durability test cycle applied to the grip handle. In order to verify the validity of the method, we demonstrated the door trim grip handle noise that occurred in the field claim with the product in the early stage of mass production through the developed test method. Finally, It is used to detect and improve the noise of subsequent development products through the currently developed test method.
