  • This paper presents a robust and speed-sensorless stator flux estimation for induction motor direct torque control. The proposed observer is based on sliding mode approach. Stator electrical equations are used in the rotor orientation reference frame to eliminate the observer dependence on rotor speed. Lyapunov's concept for systems stability is adopted to confine the observer gain. Furthermore, the sensitivity of the observer to parameter mismatch is recovered with an adaptation technique. The nonlinearities of the pulse width modulation voltage source inverter are estimated and compensated to enhance stability at low speeds. Therefore, a new method based on the model reference adaptive system is proposed. Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

  • The paesent paper deals with obtaining the properly mixed application critaeia for the manual mode, using computer graphic simulation, in order to recover the error effectively occurring in the advanced teleoperator work of man-robot system. In these experiments the error which is occurred during performing the automatic mode is recovered by the manual mode which is combined properly the operation by hyman with the operation by control program. The result shows an improvement availibility of the system by not only establishing an efficient combination of the manual mode according to trajectory planning but also recovering the error effectively. Therefore we suggest that the operation by control program should be applied in macro motion of control and the operation by human in micro motion of control.

  • In this paper, an algorithm for recovering the 3-D shape from a single shaded image is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, by using the relation between the height and surface gradient (p, q), a set of linear equations is derived from the linearized reflectance function. Then the 3-D surface is recovered by employing the conjugate gradient technique. In order to improve the convergence speed of the solution, we also employ the hierarchical basis function and multiresolution images in the algorithm. A method for determining the regularization parameter, which is determined by trial and error in the conventional approach, is also introduced. In addition, the proposed algorithm attempts to recover the 3-D surface without requiring the boundary conditions, making it suitable for a real-time implementation. Simulation results for real image as well as synthetic image are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • In the playback signal processing of a digital magnetic recording system, the major signal processing processes consist of pulse equalization. pulse detection, clock recovery, and data recovery. Equalizer which compensates interference occurrde between pulses recorded in high density on a magnetic media is realized by pulse slimming method, and pulse detection by a integrating detector. Clock recovery from the detector output was accomplished by using PLL. and data recovery to reduce noise effects was carried out by utilizing the three sampling clocks recovered in clock recovery process. In this paper these processes are implemented in hardware and its performance is evaluated by experimenting with a commercial DAT. It was found that the playback signal processor proposed is suitable to the practical high density magnetic recording system.

  • This paper describes the evaluation of the effectiveness of rehabilitation therapy for patients with finger paralysis based on a two-finger force measurement system (TFFMS). The paralyzed fingers can be recovered through rehabilitation therapies. The finger pressing force of the patients can be measured utilizing the TFFMS previously developed by the author [7]. The TFFMS, however, has not been fully adopted as a standard method for evaluating the therapy owing to the lack of a standard protocol. The pressing force of healthy volunteers and patients is analyzed with the TFFMS to explore the feasibility of the TFFMS as an evaluation device. The test confirms that the established standard protocol is useful to quantitatively assess the progress of finger rehabilitation therapy.

  • This paper presents a novel simple method for introducing gold nanoparticles in a poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PVP) polymer layer over a glassy carbon (GC) electrode with the aim of forming a tunable electrochemical interface against a cationic ruthenium complex. Initially, AuCl4 ? ions were spontaneously incorporated into a polymer layer containing positively charged pyridine rings in an acidic media by ion exchange. A negative potential was then applied to electrochemically reduce the incorporated AuCl4 ? ions to gold nanoparticles, which was confirmed by the FE-SEM images. The PVP layer with an appropriate thickness over the electrode blocked electron transfer between the electrode and the solution phase for the redox reactions of the cationic Ru(NH3)6 2+ ions. However, the introduction of gold nanoparticles into the polymer layer recovered the electron transfer. In addition, the electron transfer rate between the two phases could be tuned by controlling the number density of gold nanoparticles.

  • This paper proposes a recovering technique of the elevation map by stereo modeling of the aerial image sequence which is transformed based on the aircraft situation. The area-based stereo matching method is simulated and the various parameters are experimentally chosen. In a depth extraction step, the depth is determined by solving the vector equation. The equation is suitable for stereo modeling of aerial images which do not satisfy the epipolar constraint. Also, the performance of the conventional feature-based matching scheme is compared. Finally, techniques analyzing the accuracy of the recovered elevation map (REM) are described. The analysis includes the error estimation for both height and contour lines, where the accuracy is based on the measurements of deviations from the estimates obtained manually. The experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed technique.

  • The disks containing all the system software-OS(Operating System), application program, and DB(Data Base)-happen to be broken. This happens not only to general computer systems but also to electronic switching system. In the electronic switching system, this causes the essential data and software needed for operating the system to be damaged and is fatal to services, so that they should be recovered as soon as possible. Especially the data, having the information of subscriber, trunk, prefix, and system configuration should be receovered preferentially. To manage this situation, the system should let the operator know that the data are damaged and recover the damaged data. This paper shows a way of recovering this damaged data, the object data of audit, the structure of DBMS and the implementation of audit in the case of the domestic high capacity electronic switching system, TDX-10A.

  • This paper discusses the reduction and subsequent recovery and increase of shear strength of clay in the vicinity of soil-cement column. Laboratory and field tests were conducted to investigate the effects on surrounding clay during and after soil-cement column installation in soft Ariake clay. Discussions were made on the mechanism of strength changes of clay by considering the thixotropic recovery, reconsolidation effect, penetration of cement slurry and diffusion of exchangeable cations. On the basis of field and laboratory observations, 10 days after column installation, the decreased shear strength of surrounding clay during mixing was recovered and 30 days later, shear strength of surrounding clay increased 30% by average. Therefore, it is recommended that the increase of shear strength of clay can be taken into consideration in the bearing capacity and stability analysis of the composite ground.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective fragile image watermarking scheme for tampering detection and content recovery. Cover image is divided into a series of non-overlapping blocks and a block mapping relationship is constructed by the secret key. Several DCT coefficients with direct current and lower frequencies of the MSBs for each block are used to generate the reference bits, and different coefficients are assigned with different bit numbers for representation according to their importance. To enhance recovery performance, authentication bits are generated by the MSBs and the reference bits, respectively. After LSB substitution hiding, the embedded watermark bits in each block consist of the information of itself and its mapping blocks. On the receiver side, all blocks with tampered MSBs can be detected and recovered using the valid extracted reference bits. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
