The adiposity rebound in the 21st century children: meaning for what?

  • With the increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity worldwide, early adiposity rebound, which is known to have a strong association with obesity, has recently been a focus of research. Early adiposity rebound is conventionally known to have a close relationship with non-communicable diseases. However, novel insights into early adiposity rebound have implied an acceleration of growth and puberty, which is directly reflected in the trends in the timing of adiposity rebound, in the 21st century compared with in the past. Furthermore, the observation that lean mass changes rather than fat mass changes show a more similar pattern to body mass index trajectories is interesting. In this article, the later outcomes and risk factors of early adiposity rebound are briefly summarized, and the current trends in the timing of adiposity rebound and novel insights into its relationship with body composition are reviewed.

충격공진법 및 복합법을 이용한 콘크리트의 강도 평가 기법 (Evaluation Technique of Concrete Strength Using Impact-Resonance and Combined Method)

  • Among several non-destructive testing methods, ultrasonic pulse velocity method and rebound index method have been widely used for the evaluation of concrete strength. However, such methods might not provide accurate estimated results since factors influencing the relationship between strength and either ultrasonic pulse velocity or rebound index are not considered. In this paper, the evaluation method of concrete strength using rod-wave velocity measured by impact-resonance method is proposed. A basic equation is obtained by the linear regression of velocity vs, strength data at specific age and then, aging factor is employed in the equation to consider the difference of the increasing rate between wave velocity and strength. Strengths predicted by the proposed equation agree well with test results. Furthermore, the combined method of rod-wave velocity and rebound index is proposed.

스테로이드제 중단 이후 반동 현상이 발생한 아토피 피부염의 치험 2례 (Two Case Reports on Atopic Dermatitis with Rebound Phenomena after Steroid Interruption)

  • Objectives : Steroids are often administered to atopic patients as hormone preparations, often causing side effects. This study is intended to present the possibility of Korean medicine treatment for patients who have had side effects due to steroids in atopic dermatitis by relieving side effects and improving symptoms through Korean medicine such as Hwangryounhaedok-tang and Siryeong-tang. Methods : 2 patients who had atopic dermatitis and rebound phenomenon after steroids treatment were treated by herbal medicine, herbal acupuncture, acupuncture and external preparations. Photographs of the lesions, SCORAD(Scoring atopic dermatitis) index were used to evaluate the changes in symptoms. Results : The SCORAD index of the first patient improved from 55.6 to 24.3 in 4 months. The SCORAD index of the second patient improved from 44.7 to 21.3 in 3 months. Conclusions : In the situation where symptoms of atopic dermatitis patients due to steroid rebound phenomenon have worsened, Korean medicine treatments played a important role in alleviating symptoms and improving SCORAD index scores.

습진 환자의 스테로이드제 반동 현상 관리 및 치험 1례 (Management of Steroid Rebound Phenomenon in Patients with Eczema)

  • Objectives : We would like to report what symptoms appear in patients experiencing steroid rebound phenomenon and how to manage and treat them at Korean medicine hospital. Methods : A 20-year-old woman who had been using topical and oral steroids for more than 6 weeks presented to the hospital. She hospitalized for 5 weeks and stopped using steroid. The treatment applied was acupuncture, wet dressing therapy and herbal medicine including Yangdokbackho-tang, Sunbangpaedok-tang and Danguieumja. We assessed symptoms through Inflammation Index and Chronicization Index. Results : Right after she stopped using steroid, symptoms of skin got worse gradually. However, after 5 weeks of treatment, all symptoms except itching and dryness disappeared. When symptom was severe, Inflammation Index and Chronicization Index was 12 and 9 points and after the treatment they were 2 and 4 points. Conclusions : This study shows various symptoms in patients with topical steroid addiction and how to manage at Korean medicine hospital.

압축강도와 풍화도에 관련된 퇴적암의 공학적 특성 (Engineering Characteristics of the Sedimentary Rocks on Compressive Strength and Weathering Grade)

  • 본 연구에서는 대구ㆍ경북지역에 분포하는 셰일, 이암, 실트스톤, 사암에 대한 물리ㆍ역학적 특성을 실험실과 현장에서 측정하였다. 절리와 층리가 잘 발달한 퇴적암에서 일축압축 시험을 위한 암석코어 시료를 확보하기가 어렵다. 그래서 퇴적암에 대해서 점하중강도, 슈미트해머 반발치, 압열인장강도, p-파속도, 흡수율등의 특성값들과 일축압축강도의 상관성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 퇴적암의 일축압축강도를 제반지수를 이용하여 평가할 때 기존의 상관식은 일축압축강도를 크게 평가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 암석의 화학성분과 광물성분을 XRF와 XRD분석을 통해 조사하였다. 추가적으로 육안식별에 의한 풍화등급 구분은 주관적인 경향에 따라 다르게 분류되는 혼란이 야기되므로 점하중강도, 슈미트해머 반발치, 흡수율과 같은 지수들을 이용하여 암석의 풍화도를 정량적으로 나타내었다.

목표체온유지치료를 적용한 심정지 후 증후군 환자에서 반동성 고체온 발생군과 비발생군의 임상결과 비교 (Comparison of Clinical Outcomes between Rebound Hyperthermia and Non-Rebound Hypertherma Groups in Postcardiac Arrest Syndrome Patients Undergoing Targeted Temperature Management)

  • Purpose : This retrospective study aims to provide basic data for intervention to improve clinical outcomes and identify the characteristics of the rebound hyperthermia (RHG) and non-rebound hyperthermia (NRHG) groups by checking body temperature in patients with post-cardiac arrest syndrome. Method : The study involved 118 patients who completed target temperature management (TTM) in an acute-care unit. Data were analyzed for frequency, percentages, mean, standard deviation, median, and quartiles, and compared using the chi-squared test and Mann-Whitney U-test. Results : Rebound hyperthermia (RH) was observed in 74 (62.7%) patients, predominantly male (69.5%), with an average age of 64.54 ± 15.98, and a body mass index of 23.22 ± 4.75kg/m2 (overweight). Hypertension (50%) was the most common co-morbidity, followed by diabetes and heart disease (33.1%). Neuron-specific enolase levels were higher in the NRHG 24, 48, and 72 hours after recovery of spontaneous circulation (p = .037, p < .001, p = .008). The APHCHE IV was also higher in the NRHG (p < .001). RH occurred 25.49 (7.28-52.96) hours after TTM completion, lasting for 2 (1-3) hours. Temperature reduction strategies included notifying doctors, administering antipyretics, and nursing intervention, with the latter being the most common at 94.6%. Half of the subjects in the RHG and 77.3% in the NRHG fell into cerebral performance categories 3, 4, and 5 (p = .003). Conclusion : RH is more likely a body mechanism related to CPR and TTM than a result of pathogenic infection. Therefore, we require an active intervention for hyperthermia, and a patient-specific nursing intervention protocol.

암석의 종류와 방향에 따른 물리적 특성과 상호관계 (Characteristics of Physical Properties of Rocks and Their Mutual Relations)

  • The main objectives of this study are to investigate the anisotropic characteristics of rocks and to evaluate the relationships between physical properties. A series of experiments were performed in three mutually perpendicular directions for three rock types, which are granite, granitic gneiss and limestone. The relationships of measured physical properties were evaluated. The results of ultrasonic wave velocity measurement show that granite of three rock types gives the largest directional difference, and that the wave velocity in a plane parallel to a transversely isotropic one is dominantly faster than that in a subvertical or vertical plane. It implies that ultrasonic wave velocity for rock could be used as a useful tool for estimating the degree of anisotropy. The ratio of uniaxial compressive strength to Brazilian tensile strength ranges approximately from 13 to 16 for granite. from 8 to 9 for granite gneiss, and from 9 to 18 for limestone. The directional differences for granite and granitic gneiss are very small, and on the other hand, is relatively large for limestone. It is suggested that strength of rock makes quite difference depending on the rock types and loading directions, especially for the anisotropic rocks such as transversely isotropic or orthotropic rocks. The ratio of uniaxial compressive strength to point load strength index ranges from 18 to 20 for granite, from 17 to 19 for granitic gneiss, and from 21 to 24 for limestone. These results show that point load strength index makes also a difference depending on rock types and directions. Therefore. it should be noted that the ratio of uniaxial compressive strength to point load strength index could be applied to all rock types. Uniaxial compressive strength shows relatively good relationship with point load strength index, Schmidt hammer rebound value, and tensile strength. In particulat, point load strength index is shown to be the best comparative relationship. It is indicated that point load test is the most useful tool to estimate an uniaxial compressive strength indirectly.

  • This paper gives the information of field concrete placed under raining condition. Experimental factors in this study are concrete strength, standard deviation and coefficient of variation. The results are as follows: 1. The strength of field concrete placed under raining condition is not largely dependent on the raining condition. 2. But, the quality of concrete is very critical.

노후 콘크리트 재료의 물성 및 손상도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Physical Property and Damage Index of Decrepit Concrete Materials)

  • 도심지에서의 건물해체 및 발파공사로 노후된 인접 구조물의 구조적 안정성에 영향을 미칠 가능성이 있다. 본 연구에서는 노후 콘크리트 재료의 물성을 파악하기 위하여 반발경도에 의한 압축강도와 X선 회절 및 상 분석에 의한 성분 함량으로 상관성을 비교하였고, 충격 에너지에 의한 손상도 평가를 위해 측정된 탄성파속도 값으로 손상도를 산출하였다. 결과적으로, 반발경도에 의한 압축강도와 재료의 성분 함량은 상관성이 있음을 확인하였고, 탄성파속도 값으로 산출된 손상도는 압축강도가 큰 재료일수록 작게 나타났고, 충격력이 작을수록 작게 나타났다.

퇴적암의 공학지수를 추정하기 위한 L. A. 마모율 시험 (Los Angeles Abrasion Test for Estimating Engineering Index on the Sedimentary Rocks of Kyeongsang Basin)

  • L. A. 마모율 시험은 건설용 골재의 강도를 확인하기 위한 방법으로 주로 석산의 모암을 대상으로 시행하여 왔다. 본 연구는 경상분지 퇴적암이 집중 분포되어 있는 25 지점에서 지질학적 특성을 대표할 수 있는 324 브록의 시료를 채취하여 L. A. 마모율시험으로 각종 공학지수(일축 압축강도, 압열 인장강도, 탄성계수, 점하중 강도지수, Schmidt 해머 반발지수)를 추정하기 위한 실험을 시행하여 회귀 분석법으로 서로간의 상관성을 확인한 결과, 상호간 좋은 상관관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 이 방법이 다른 공학지수를 추정함에 손색이 없으므로 이후에도 많은 활용이 있기를 기대한다.
