The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical application of oriental medical therapy(OMT) to Speech retardation complained problems of Articulation & Reading fluency. We treated the patient with OMT & others. The recovery of Speech retardation was evaluated by Articulation correction test(ACT) & Reading fluency test(RFT). The applicability of OMT & other therapy has positive effects on the patient with Speech retardation complained problems of Articulation & Reading fluency. The scores of ACT & RFT were increased.

This study applied a bibliotherapy program based on play-oriented interaction to lower-graders in elementary school and examined its effect on the ability to adapt to school life. For this purpose, reading therapy research was conducted using research subjects consisting of ordinary second graders in elementary school located in District K, Seoul. Total of twelve ninety-minute sessions of the reading therapy program were implemented in school library once or twice a week. Adaptability to school life was tested before and after the reading therapy program and the Kinetic School Drawing (KSD) test, which was conducted before and after the implementation of reading therapy program. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, the reading therapy program based on play-oriented interaction was proven to have a positive impact on overall adaptation of second graders in elementary school. Second, among the sub factors of the adaptability to school life among the second graders in elementary school, reading therapy program based on play-oriented interaction positively affected teacher relation, peer relation, school lesson, and compliance with the school rules.

The purpose of this study is to investigated the impact of reading therapy programs(classes) on the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and peer relationships of children in the lower grades of elementary school. The study was conducted at the B Public Library in A Metropolitan City, Korea. Eight elementary school students participated in the REBT reading therapy program for 12 sessions, each lasting 120 minutes, every Saturday. The research method was qualitative, and an observer was appointed to verify the qualitative research. The observer and the researcher qualitatively analyzed the participant's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral observation diaries and pre- and post-person-picture tests for each session. As a result of the study, the REBT reading therapy program was found to have a positive impact on the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral changes and formation of peer relationships of the children. The results of the study show the need for children and youth institutions, including public libraries, to develop and operate reading therapy programs for various groups.

This study takes aim at finding how effective the usage of 'Read to Dogs' is for self-respect and reading improvement of elementary school students. For this, this study was compared and analyzed with pretest and posttest using 'tree pictures' of HTP and 'family pictures with motion' of KFD through performing, surveying, and art-therapy treatments. The result of this study showed that reading program using a reading -assistance- dog has a good effect on self-respect of children with reading inactivity. Also, this result will be used as useful information in developing and operating programs for children with reading inactivity in libraries and schools.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify changes in reading ability among children with Borderline Intelligence by applying an electronic media reading training protocol. Methods : A picture book reading training protocol was applied to 10 childrens with borderline intelligence using electronic media to improve reading skills. This protocol was performed for 10 session once a week. After the analysis of the content validity index about the protocol presented in this study, this prococol was applied to the subjects. To analyze the changes of the reading ability for the subjects, KNISE-BAAT type A and B reading test were used. Results : According to the tests taken before and after implementing, the Application of Picture Booking Training Protocol using Electronic Media there was a significant improvement in Reading ability (Understanding words, Completion sentence, Vocabulary selection, Vocabulary arrangement, Understanding short text). However, there was no significant difference in Oral Reading. Conclusion : Application of Picture Booking Training Protocol using Electronic Media may be used as a beneficial measure to improve the reading abilities of children with Borderline Intellectual.

The reading culture promotion for the disabled is a key task of library which minimizes the level of information poverty, and improves the living standards of the people. In order to address the promotional methods, this study adopts a frame from a reading culture promotion policy, and analyzes national and international library services for the disabled. In results, the current library services for the disabled are mainly based on 'building appropriate reading environments' and guaranteeing 'equal reading opportunities'. However, campaigns or tasks targeting the disabled which makes reading a way of life are insufficient. This study, therefore, suggests 'reading education', 'reading therapy', 'user-oriented program development' to make reading a way of life. Library promoting strategies can also be useful in campaign of reading activities for the disabled.

This study compared and analyzed with the United States(USA) to evaluated the level of readability of radiotherapy information (English text) provide to foreign patients with cancer by medical institutions in South Korea (KOR). A total of 20 the KOR and USA medical hospitals in 10 each provide information for radiation therapy technology were selected. The readability was comparatively analyzed a total of three aspects (lexical, syntactic, cohesion and readability) by using a Coh-Metrix on-line web program. In readability respect, the mean of the Flesch Reading Ease (FRE) was lower in the KOR (8.3) than in the USA (23.2), Flesch-Kincaid grade level (FKGL) was higher in the KOR than in the USA (14.2) indicating that KOR was less readable than the US (p<.05). In both KOR and USA, the reading level (literacy) of the English text for the radiation therapy was found to be higher than high school (FRE level 50 or lower). Therefore, text information in English for the radiation therapy to foreign patients with cancer should be lowered to elementary school level and read to improve the quality of medical services.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Interactive Metronome (IM) training on the reading fluency of an elementary school student. Methods : This study followed the ABA design, a single-case research method, and was conducted on one elementary school student. From October 2019 to December 2019, a three-session baseline phase (A), twelve-session intervention phase (B), and three-session post-baseline phase (A') were conducted. The intervention was IM training, and long-form assessment (LFA) of IM and BASA:R were performed for each session. In addition, BASA:R was conducted three times at baseline and post-baseline. Result : Compared with baseline, there was a significant improvement in reading fluency after the IM training intervention. Conclusions : IM training can be useful for increasing reading fluency. The results of this work demonstrate the efficacy of IM training as a clinical intervention to improve reading fluency in elementary school students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference between respiratory function and speech production, according to the seat surface inclination while in the sitting position. Methods: Respiratory function (FVC, FEV1) and speech production (inspiratory frequency, unit reading time, paragraph reading time) were measured in 3 sitting conditions: horizontal seat surface, seat surface tilted forward 15 degrees, and seat surface tilted backward 15 degrees. Results: We found that the mean values of FVC and FEV1 were statistically significant different according to three types of sitting positions (p<0.05). The following result was observed: forward tilted sitting > horizontal sitting > backward tilted sitting. There was no significant difference in speech production between the different positions. Respiratory function and speech production had a significantly negative correlation in the forward tilted condition and the backward tilted condition. Conclusion: This finding suggests that the seat surface inclination have an effect on respiratory function. Especially, forward tilted sitting may be an effective posture that may help increases the respiratory function.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of ElectroMyoscope(Electro_Acuscope and Myopulse) in tissue repairing on fatigue quadriceps femoris(rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, and vastus medialis). Subjects were female adult volunteers with (n=13) and without (n=5) chronic fatigue muscle pain. We needed to fatigue the rectus femoris by overusing of a Cybex machine exercise. We turned the Electro-Myoscope to treatment mode and treated with treatment probe on the fatigue muscle, then turned instrument back to EMG and took the reading. The results indicated that the reading after the treatment was lower than before the treatment. A two-tailed t-test and Chi square indicated significant results(P<.03). It appears that the Electro-Myoscope is effective in treatment on the fatigue muscle.
