  • Reconstruction of the radial two-dimensional of fission products using projections obtained by nondestructive transversal direction gamma scanning was evaluated, and then compared with the destructive sectional gamma scanning results. Although the nondestructive method has a little drawback compared to the destructive method in the accuracy, the former seemed to be sufficiently applicable.

  • The thermal and hydraulic characteristics of the cooling passage for HTS power cable should be carefully investigated to get the highly reliable and economic operation. In this study, the pressure drop and temperature change of the coolant flowing the corrugated passage was estimated using the simple one-dimensional approach, and the temperature distribution in the radial direction was calculated. The results show the dependency of the mass flow rate, thermal conductivities on the cooling performance of the HTS cable.

  • Recently, the hydroforming technology has been recognized as a general technique in manufacturing industry, especially in automotive industry. Hydroforming is applied to increase strength, and to decrease weight, cost and parts. Hydroforming is based on the inflation of, for Instance, a tube, coupled with axial or radial compression and by subsequent expansion and sizing against the die wall. Expansion, axial feeding, calibration are important parameters in this process. In this paper, the effects of various parameters such as internal pressure, axial feeding and friction on hydroforming of automotive bumper rail have been considered.

  • Transient solution of asymmetric mechanical and thermal stresses for hollow cylinders made of functionally graded material is presented. Temperature distribution, as function of radial and circumferential directions and time, is analytically obtained, using the method of separation of variables and generalized Bessel function. A direct method is used to solve the Navier equations, using the Euler equation and complex Fourier series.

  • An analytical formulation of obtaining propeller sections for a given vortex system of radial and chordwise distribution is given as an indirect problem of tracing the propeller surface. The formulation satisfies the boundary condition of potential flow exactly rather than previous approximate use of induced streamline curvatures at the zero camber line.

  • The present study discusses the deviation from the pure dead-time model of passive scalars such as temperature and concentration in the Poiseulle flow Even in the case of no thermal diffusion, there exists a substantial amount of damping and large deviation of phase lag from that computed by the traditional dead-time model after only 10 diameter downstream. These are caused by the phase difference of temperature in the radial direction due to the nonuniform velocity distribution. In the presence of thermal diffusion, damping is more pronounced.

  • A reduced condition for liquid-gas phase transition from the singularity of compressibility is derived using diagrammatic approach and is examined in the hard sphere system. The condition turns out that the Percus-Yevick and the Hyper-Netted-Chain approximation never conceive the idea of phase transition, and explains that the liquid-gas transition does not exist in hard sphere system. The solid-fluid transition is considered on the viewpoint of correlation function and diagrammatic analysis.

  • The OSS2(Ojame-Shavitt-Singer 2)[L. Ojame et al., J. Chem. Phys. 109, 5547 (1998)] model as a dissociable water model is examined in order to study the dynamics of H+ in water. MD simulations for 216 water system, 215 water + H+ ion system, and 215 water + OH- ion system using the OSS2 model at 298.15 K with the use of Ewald summation are carried out. The calculated O-H radial distribution functions for these systems are essentially the same and are in very good agreement with that obtained by Ojame.

  • A series of aliphatic hydrocarbons, methane to hexane in the liquid state, are modeled with the molecular mechanical potential parameters treating all hydrogen degrees of freedom explicitly. Thermodynamic properties (heat capacities and heats of vaporization) are calculated from relatively short (20ps) molecular dynamics trajectories. The liquid state structures are also examined through various radial distribution functions. Molecular dynamics simulations reproduce experimentally measured properties within a few percent errors, thus indicate that the present set of all-hydrogen parameters is suitable for simulating macromolecular systems in bulk.

  • The present research deals with the deformation in transversely isotropic thin circular thermoelastic rotating plate due to time-harmonic sources. Frequency effect in the presence of rotation and two temperature is studied under thermally insulated as well as isothermal boundaries. The Hankel transform technique is used to find a solution to the problem. The displacement components, stress components, and conductive temperature distribution with the radial distance are computed in the transformed domain and further calculated in the physical domain using numerical inversion techniques. Some specific cases are also figured out from the current research.
