  • In this paper we compare the notion of proper map in the category of topological spaces with that in the category of semialgebraic sets. To do this, we find some equivalence conditions for semialgebraically proper maps. In particular, we prove that a continuous semialgebraic map is semialgebraically proper if and only if it is proper. Moreover, we compare the semialgebraically proper map with the proper map in the sense of Delfs and Knebush [4].

  • The concept of fuzzy sets in UP-algebras was first introduced by Somjanta et al. [Fuzzy sets in UP-algebras; 2016]. In this paper, we introduce and study fuzzy proper UP-filters of UP-algebras and prove their generalizations and characteristic fuzzy sets of proper UP-filters. Moreover, we discuss the relations between fuzzy proper UP-filters and their level subsets.

  • This study was carried out to acquire basic data necessary for the use of rice-straw chemical pulp. It investigated the proper bleaching conditions when rice-straw chemical pulp(alkaline sulfite-${Na_2}{S_2}{O_4}$) was bleached using the various kinds of bleaching agents by the two-stages bleaching methods. And, physical properties of pulps bleached with eight kinds of two-stages bleaching methods were tested. The results of this study were as follow; 1. The first-stage bleaching was conducted under the proper conditions with chlorine(C). And then, the proper conditions related to the calcium chlorite(H), hydrogen peroxide(P) and sodium hydrosulfite(Y) bleaching as the second-stage bleaching were investigated. The proper conditions of CH stage were determined to be 0.3% concentration of calcium chlorite, $30^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and 20min. of reaction time. For CP stage, the proper conditions of concentration of hydrogen peroxide, reaction temperature and reaction time were 1.5%, $60^{\circ}C$ and 90min., respectively. And for CY stage, the proper conditions were 0.5% concentration of sodium hydrosulfite, $40^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and 90min. of reaction time. 2. The first-stage bleaching was conducted under the proper conditions with chlorine dioxide(D). And then, the proper conditions related to the calcium chlorite(H), hydrogen peroxide(P) and sodium hydrosulfite(Y) bleaching as the second-stage bleaching were investigated. The proper conditions of DH stage were determined to be 0.5% concentration of calcium chlorite, $25^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and 5min. of reaction time. For DP stage, the proper conditions of concentration of hydrogen peroxide, reaction temperature and reaction time were 1.0%, $70^{\circ}C$ and 90min., respectively. And for DY stage, the proper conditions were 0.3% concentration of sodium hydrosulfite, $50^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and 20min. of reaction time. 3. The first-stage bleaching was conducted under the proper conditions with calcium chlorite(H). kAnd then, the proper conditions related to the hydrogen peroxide(P) and sodium hydrosulfite(Y) bleaching as the second-stage bleaching were investigated. The proper conditions of HP stage were determined to be 0.3% concentration of hydrogen peroxide, $30^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and 60min. of reaction time. For HY stage, the proper conditions of concentration of sodium hydrosulfite, reaction temperature and reaction time were 2.5%, $60^{\circ}C$ and 30min., respectively. 4. When the rice-straw chemical pulps were bleached with eight kinds of two-stages bleaching methods in the proper conditions mentioned above, respectively, the final brightnesses after CH, CP, CY, DH, DP, DY, HP, and HY bleachings were 62.0, 74.3, 61.4, 58.9, 66.9, 62.9, 50.4 and 60.1, respectively. And strengthes of pulps bleached with DP and DH methods were comparatively higher than those of pulps bleached with other bleaching methods.

  • Proper orthogonal decomposition is a statistical pattern analysis technique for finding the dominant components, called the proper orthogonal modes, in ensembles of spatially distributed data. We present recent ideas based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and detailed experiments that yield new perspectives into the microscale structures. The linearized modeling technique based on POD is very useful to show the principal characteristics of the complex dynamic responses.

  • Disk stellar luminosity function has been derived with stars in the Lowell Proper Motion Survey which contains about 9000 stars with ${\mu}\;{\geq}\;0".27$ of arc/yr, $8\;<\;m_{pg}\;<\;17$ and with bright stars in the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) Star Catalogue, Luminosity function has been obtained with stars within 20 pc by Luyten's mean absolute magnitudes method using Reduced Proper Motion Diagram to select disk stars. Magnitudes and colors, in the SAO Star Catalogue as well as in the Lowell Proper Motion Survey have been transformed to the UBV system from the published UBV data. It has been found that stars which have higher proper motion than the original limit of the proper motion survey are missed, when the relation between the absolute magnitude and reduced proper motion is applied to sample stars without considering the dispersion in magnitude. Correction factors for missing stars have been estimated according to their limits of proper motion which are dependent on the absolute magnitude. Resulting luminosity function shows Wielen's dip at $M_B{\sim}10$, and systematic enhancement of stars on the average of about ${\Delta}\log\;{\Phi}\;(M_B){\sim}0.2$ compared with Luyten's luminosity function.

  • Dependency parsing is a decision problem of the syntactic relation between words in a sentence. Recently, deep learning models are used for dependency parsing based on the word representations in a continuous vector space. However, it causes a mislabeled tagging problem for the proper nouns that rarely appear in the training corpus because it is difficult to express out-of-vocabulary (OOV) words in a continuous vector space. To solve the OOV problem in dependency parsing, we explored the proper noun embedding method according to the embedding unit. Before representing words in a continuous vector space, we replace the proper nouns with a special token and train them for the contextual features by using the multi-layer bidirectional LSTM. Two models of the syllable-based and morpheme-based unit are proposed for proper noun embedding and the performance of the dependency parsing is more improved in the ensemble model than each syllable and morpheme embedding model. The experimental results showed that our ensemble model improved 1.69%p in UAS and 2.17%p in LAS than the same arc-eager approach-based Malt parser.

  • The ordinary mean curvature vector field 𝗛 on a submanifold M of a space form is said to be proper if it satisfies equality Δ𝗛 = a𝗛 for a constant real number a. It is proven that every hypersurface of an Riemannian space form with proper mean curvature vector field has constant mean curvature. In this manuscript, we study the Lorentzian hypersurfaces with proper second mean curvature vector field of four dimensional Lorentzian space forms. We show that the scalar curvature of such a hypersurface has to be constant. In addition, as a classification result, we show that each Lorentzian hypersurface of a Lorentzian 4-space form with proper second mean curvature vector field is C-biharmonic, C-1-type or C-null-2-type. Also, we prove that every 𝗛2-proper Lorentzian hypersurface with constant ordinary mean curvature in a Lorentz 4-space form is 1-minimal.

  • This study was done to identify the effectiveness of a proper positioning on musculoskeletal complication on patient with Stroke by using a quasi-experimental study. A total of 18 patients were selected as a subject from June 1st to October 31th 1998 who had been hospitalized at Intensive Care Units in K medical center. A experimental group consists of 8 patients who were given proper positioning every two hours. A control group consists of 10 patients who were given traditional positioning. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS windows including $X^2$-test (Fisher's exact method), Wilcoxon Rank Sum test and McNemar test. The result of this study was summerized as follows : 1) The experimental group with proper positioning has shown lower shoulder pain score, dorsiflexion contracture score, Shoulder subluxation score and higher Range of Motion and than the control group. 2) The experimental group with proper positioning has shown lower muscle pain score and edema score than the control group, but it was not statistically significant. Therefore, proper positioning could be applied as an independent nursing intervent ion for patients on Stroke in order to facilitate rehabilitation.
