  • While every nation in the world is emphasizing economic growth, we are confronting a side effect called environmental pollution. The main cause of environmental pollution is abuse of fossil fuels which emit carbon dioxide and are causing various problems including global worming. Green IT becomes popular as a method to reduce environmental pollution as well as a method to develop IT industry. The purpose of this paper is to develop education contents of green IT for elementary school students. For this purpose, extensive literature review works have been searched and analysed. In this paper, education contents of green IT are developed for three categories, knowledge, application, and ethics. In order to verify the validity of practical guidelines in application category, 55 elementary school teachers are randomly selected and their responses are gathered and analyzed through thorough statistical work. We expect that the proposed education contents will be guidelines for future green IT education.

  • An analytical solution procedure for the dynamic response of beams with variable properties is developed by using an asymptotic solution and the Green's function. This asymptotic closed form solution is derived for the transverse vibration of beams under the assumption of slowly varying properties, such as mass, cross-section, tension etc., along the beam length. However, this solution is still found to be very accurate even in the case of large variation, such as step change in cross-section, mass, and tension. Therefore, this derived asymptotic closed form solution and the Green's function can be easily applied to find dynamic responses for various kind of beam vibration problems.

  • Since the industrial revolution, the global environmental problems such as greenhouse gas accumulation and the average temperature increase have caused people's attention. 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' was presented to cope with these global concerns, as one of main policies of 2008 in Korea. The paradigm of a green urban development is started to concern the whole city's energy problems owing to realize 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' in the urban side. The government established a nation's basic energy plan for 20 years, and some local cities made efforts to develop new renewable energy such as the solar, wind and water energy which are suitable to each city's character. As a part of these efforts, the concept of U-Eco city is newly appeared to reflect upon ubiquitous technique, urban ecology and the next generation energy system. However, urban plan is difficult to adopt this next generation energy system with existing laws, regulations and technical systems. The new executive and systematic system is needed to realize the U-Eco city U-Eco for the management of an efficient city. In this study, the authors investigate the concept of the next generation energy system and U-Eco city to realize the energy-efficient city plan and analyze problems to occur during the application of them in an existing city plan. Then, the authors show the remedies to deal with occurred problems.

  • The study aims to analyze and evaluate the evaluation items and application methods of environment-friendly middle schools in Chungbuk area by case studies. For the study, the criteria and situations of environment-friendly schools are analyzed literally and three environment-friendly middle schools in Chungbuk area selected. The field surveys and faculty interviews are performed. As results, about 35 environment-friendly technologies are applied and 66 to 68 points are acquired in three selected schools. It is analyzed that the PV, natural interior materials, raining recycle system and sufficient green spaces are pointed out as main technologies. About 66% of respondents know the environment-friendly certification and use the environment facilities in classes. However, the unsuitable plants for interior green spaces, unskilled management of recycling facilities and the absent of student participate programs show up as main problems. Also, the active campaigns need to expand the environment-friendly school.

  • This paper is to provide problems and changes to be don Korean Green Building Certification Criteria, which are similar to American Leed certification and Japanese CASBBE, reorganizing and comparing those systems with domestic system. Normally, those certification program is very similar, but have some differences in the view to the site and environment chapter. That difference will be change to the right way that protect the nature states of the environment. Therefore, this study is going to base data to first step of the process for modify the differency problem.

  • The present paper is focused on the study of the propagation of plane waves in thermoelastic media under a modified Green-Lindsay (MG-L) model having the influence of non-local and two temperature. The problem is formulated for the considered model in dimensionless form and is explained by using the reflection phenomenon. The plane wave solution of these equations indicates the existence of three waves namely Longitudinal waves (LD-Wave), Thermal waves (T-wave), and Shear waves (SV-wave) from a stress-free surface. The variation of amplitude ratios is computed analytically and depicted graphically against the angle of incidence to elaborate the impact of non-local, two temperature, and different theories of thermoelasticity. Some particular cases of interest are also deduced from the present investigation. The present study finds applications in a wide range of problems in engineering and sciences, control theory, vibration mechanics, and continuum mechanics.

  • According to the OECD's interim report on Korean education analysis held in 2020, the presenter, Andreas Schleicher, director of education for the OECD, said, "Korean students show a lot of fear, anxiety and nervousness about failure", referring to how Korean students feel anxious even if their test scores are good. It is a simple example, but as mentioned in a recent education announcement, it is a common sight among Korean students, and it is easily experienced while receiving education. As Korea has a high level of interest and enthusiasm for nurturing human resources, various methods must be considered and studied, and solutions to current problems, improvements, and directions for development is encouraged to be presented. This paper considered the methods for innovation of a learning space to improve the quality of school education, and systematically analyzed and organized the effects and impacts of providing a green environment among the methods and means. It is hoped that this study can serve as a small solution and play its role in solving the social problems of complex aspects of students presented previously.

  • There have been continuous studies about urban parks since 1971 until now. However, there was neither deep analysis of park space nor research about green areas and lawn space. Below is the summary of the main results obtained based on the analysis of the problems with the spatial structure and park facilities of 8 examinatory parks. The analysis of use pattern revealed that lawns in green areas are becoming almost unusable spaces. Therefore plans for more active utilization of lawn space is necessary. There were high correlations among unnecessary and necessary factors of park, use of green areas and the reasons for not using it; thus the analysis suggested that other plans be considered for utilization of lawn space in oder to obtain stronger efficacy. The objective of the present research was to suggest an opinion concerning the improvement of spatial structure of urban parks, by making unusable spaces of parks usable through appropriate park structuring, so that users can utilize more parks. Especially with regard to green areas, the present research has a meaning in that it suggested a method of improving spatial structure by means of green areas desired by users and facilities they can use.

  • For the purpose of numerically efficient analysis for electrostatic problems, an improved equivalent image method, by which infinite exact image of a point charge in parallel-plate and rectangular conducting structures can be replaced by only a few equivalent images, is considered. Through this study, it is observed that the error is of the order of 0.001 % when the present method is used to evaluate electric potential for a point charge in parallel-plate and rectangular conducting planes.

  • Although the educational facility are an important considerations on a social equity standpoint, educational environment in rural areas has been continuously deteriorated by numerous social problems such as decreasing birth rate and increasing of local school closing. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accessibility of educational environment in rural areas on village level. First, we evaluate physical accessibility based on legally defined commuting distance. Second, the implication of village population of potential accessibility is analyzed. Lastly, the facility centrality index of each village is estimated for assessing the relations of educational accessibility. The main results of this study are as follows; (1) The accessibility of most villages in Pyeongchang-gun is vulnerable that 81.10% for elementary school, 73.17% for middle school, and 82.32% for high school, respectively; (2) The average commuting distance per student considering estimated number of students for each educational facilities indicated 2.75km for elementary school, 4.37km for middle school, and 5.79km for high school; (3) the facility centrality index is highly correlated to educational facilities but not to village population.
