  • As the VDT work constrains work postures because of its work characteristics. VDT worksta- tions should be properly designed so as to be fitted to various types of physical conditions of op- erators. Therefore, in this study, the preferred settings of VDT wrokstation dimensions of operators. Therefore, in this study, the preferred settings of VDT workstation dimensions and work postures were studied in order to determine the appropriate dimensions and the work postures for VDT operators which will alleviate the musculoskeletal troubles or visual fatigue. The scpoe of the study is as follows. 1. Measurement and analysis of the preferred settings of the height of workstation, keyboard, seat, and screen among the experienced VDT operators. 2. Anaysis of the relationship between the preferred settings of workstation height and the seat height control among the experienced VDT operators. 3. Analysis of the work postures of the experienced VDT operators.

-Preferred Color of Purchasing Automobile According to Face Types- (얼굴유형별 승용차 구매 선호색채)

  • Based on the past research works on the relationship between face types and personality, personality and purchasing behavior, personality and color preference, face types and preference color, the author made a surmise that there could be any differences in color preference of purchasing automobiles according to face types. Objective of this research is to analyze what differences there are preferred colors of purchasing automobile according to face types. The questionnaires for preferred color of purchasing automobile were carefully surveyed, which was classified again by the face types. The result showed the facts, that the reverse-triangle face type preferred red color, the rectangular type yellow one, the round type green one, the diamond type the blue one, respectively. We suggested that the result could be utilized in establishing the automobile sales policy, provided some problems are fixed and the concrete researches into the factors that have influence on buying patterns and into the preferred color are carried out.

Learning Element Recognition and Academic Achievement of Nursing Student Receiving PBL with Simulation Education (시뮬레이션 실습이 접목된 문제중심학습에 대한 간호학생의 PBL 학습요소별 인식과 학업성취도)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze how a nursing student recognizes PBL with simulation education and its relationship to academic achievement. Methods: The study objects were the students in C college who learn through PBL using simulator for 15 weeks(September 2007 to December 2007). Learning element recognition was developed by Cho(2002) and three key evaluations(performance, self-evaluation, and colleague evaluation) were designed by professors. Results: Learning element recognition ranged from 2.37 to 4.83 with the average at 3.94. For Learning element recognition, students who preferred discussion score 4.15. This was statistically more significant than those who do not. Students who preferred presentations show significantly higher score in colleague evaluation. For Learning element recognition and academic achievement, self-evaluation and colleague evaluation showed relationship to PBL learning element. Conclusion: There was definitely a relationship with PBL learning element and academic achievement after learning the PBL with simulation education.

  • The elderly population of Korea has been significantly increasing due to advances in public health, medical care, and quality of life. Social and economic influence of the elderly population has been also increasing. A elderly people become more interested in their appearance and clothing than before, clothing plays an important role in the elderly women's everyday life. The objectives of the research are to explore the life satisfaction, appearance satisfaction, clothing satisfaction, and clothing design preference of 416 women aged 55 years and older were residents of Seoul. Data were gathered through survey using a self-administered questionnaire from November, 1994 to January, 1995 in 8 senior schools and 3 senior centers which were scattered in Seoul. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and factor analysis were used in analysing the data. The results of this study indicated that life satisfaction have a positive relationship with clothing satisfaction. The respondents were divided into tow groups by life satisfaction. The higher life satisfaction group preferred skits and formal wear to the lower. But, two groups did not show any significant differences in terms of the colo preference, motif preference, and fabric preference. The result of factor analysis divided appearance satisfaction into body satisfaction and face satisfaction. Body satisfaction had a positive relationship with clothing satisfaction. And the group of lower physical satisfaction showed lower satisfaction in apparel fitness. Also the face satisfaction had a positive relationship with clothing satisfaction. The group of higher physical satisfaction preferred skirts and foraaml wear compared to that of lower physical satisfaction. The color preference and motif preference between two groups showed no significant difference. And the group of higher physical satisfaction preferred fabric that enhances the clothing style. Also, the group of higher ace satisfaction preferred fabric that enhances the clothing style. However, there was no significant difference in the color preference and motif preference between tow groups. The findings of this study amy contribute to knowledge about clothing satisfaction and preference of elderly women in Seoul since there have been few studies, and be useful to apparel manufacturers as well s clothing researchers. Also, research subjects of this study could be extended to aged men and various regions.

A Study on Personal Color in Relation with Well-matched Color and Preferred Color (퍼스널 컬러에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) - 선호색(選好色)과 조화색(調和色)을 중심(中心)으로 -)

  • This study is to examine personal color - preferred color, well-matched color and the relations between preferred color and the well-matched color. Focus is also placed on how sexual difference influences color temperature preference. For data collection, a questionnaire including color stimulus was employed. The subjects of this study were the male and female college students who lived in Pusan. The results of the research are summarized as the following : In view of preferred color, male subjects preferred KEY2 color(warm) in red, pink, and yellow, and preferred KEY1(cool) in green and blue. While most subjects showed the same signal, in green, male preferred KEY1 color and female preferred KEY2 color. Concerning preferred personal color type, KEY1 type person liked KEY1 color except red, and KEY2 type person liked KEY2 color except blue. This shows that people prefer the focused color presenting its own traits. In view of well-matched color, most subjects liked KEY2 color in red, yellow, pink, and they selected KEY1 color in blue as the well-matched color. However, in green, each sex showed different preferences; while male subjects selected KEY1 color as the well-matched color, female ones selected KEY2 color. In each personal color type, KEY1 type male evaluated KEY1 color as the well-matched color, KEY2 type male evaluated KEY2 color except blue. KEY1 type female chose all the KEY1 color as well-matched colors, and KEY2 type female chose KEY2 color. The well-matched colors are similar between male and female subjects. In over 80 percentage of the answers, the preferred colors coincided with well-matched colors. KEY1 type persons chose KEY1 color, and KEY2 type person chose KEY2 color as the well-matched color. These results show that there is a meaningful relationship between the preferred color and well-matched color.

  • The Purpose of this study was to examine the environmental characteristics of housing for the elderly preferred by the middle aged. The residential environments include three types of elderly housing differred in the availability of care service as well as indoor and outdoor environmental characteristics of the housing. The results of this study were as follows: The most preferred type of the elderly was the elderly housing with no care service followed by the housing with intermediated care service and dependent housing with full care service. The preferred type of housing for the elderly was significantly related to the demands for the demands for the indoor and outdoor environmental characteristics of the comimg elderly.

A Study on Personal Adornment Associated with Sexual Orientation and Psychological Characteristics

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate hair style preferences, and use of cosmetics according to sexual orientation and demographic variables, to examine the relationship among hair style preferences, use of cosmetics, and anxiety and self-esteem. The subjects were 536 men (heterosexual : 353, gay : 183) of 20's and 30's living in metropolitan area of Seoul. Homosexuals preferred individualistic adornments and appearance, and the higher the ability anxieties and the miscellaneous anxieties they in both sexual orientation groups preferred unique individualistic hairstyles and used coloring cosmetics more. In the sales and service workers and students both sexual orientation groups preferred individualistic personal adornment while in the office workers they both preferred conservative appearance. In the same occupations, there were significant differences in the physical adornments according to sexual orientation in the sales and service workers and students groups. Homosexuals used individual adornments according to their sexual orientation. Both homosexuals and heterosexuals had low use of physical adornments.

Children's Preference and Friendship According to Their Sociometric Status (아동의 사회적 지위에 따른 또래 선호와 우정관계에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the relationship between the sociometric status(1) of a target child and the target child's most preferred peer, and (2) of the quality of their friendship between the two peers. Each of the subjects (238 boys, 6, 8, and 10 years of age) nominated 3 preferred peers answered questions about the preferred peers with the use of the Friendship Quality Scales. Results indicated that the sociometric status of children aged 8 and 10 were positively related to that of their most preferred peers. Reciprocal friendships, however, were more frequently observed among children in high sociometric status compared with those in low sociometric status. The quality of friendships among popular children was higher than that of rejected children. The quality of friendships between popular and rejected children was lower than friendship between rejected and rejected children.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and to analyse the difference of middle school girls clothing behaviors and their preference for clothing styles according to their intelligence, socio-economic status, and physical constitution. For the study, data were collected from 378 middle school girls resided in Taegu: one half from high intelligence group over I.Q. 113, others from low intelligence group under I.Q. 87 using the questionaire method. For the measurement of the relationship clothing behavior, socio-economic status. Rohrer index, preference style of clothing were examined. The analysis of the data was managed by computer; frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA. The results of the study are as follows; 1. The significant difference in clothing behavior according to intelligence was verified in four: modesty, comfort, management, and psychological dependence. 2. The significant difference in clothing behavior according to socio-economic status was verified in all of eight clothing behavior variables. 3. There was no significant difference according to physical constitution in all clothing behavior variables. 4. There was no significant difference in the preference styles of clothing according to intelligence, but high intelligence group took more interest in detailed factors; design, style, total combination, color, print, and comfort. 5. The upper and middle class preferred slacks and lower class preferred skirts. The upper class took interest in design-style, total combination, and comfort, the middle class in total combination. and comfort, and the lower class in total combination. 6. Thin group preferred skirt, the average group preferred slacks, fatty group preferred slacks and shirts-blouse. Thin group took interest in design-style, and color-print, the average group in total combination, and fatty group in total combination, color-print, and design-style.

The Relationship between Coping Style for Stress and Emotional Eating Behavior by Gender Difference (성별에 따른 대학생의 스트레스 대처방식과 정서적 섭식의 관계 연구)

  • This study examined the relationship between coping style for stress and emotional eating behavior focused on gender difference. A total of 475 college students(males, 244; females, 231) participated in this study. The results were as follows. First, there were significant gender difference in coping style for stress. The scores of male students were significantly higher than those of female students in the problem-focused and self-comforting coping styles, whereas scores of female students were significantly higher than male students in social support pursuit and emotion-focused coping styles. Second, there were significant gender difference in emotional eating behavior. Female students reported higher emotional eating behavior than male students. Third, male students preferred a problem-focused coping style, whereas female students preferred a social support pursuit coping style the most. Fourth, the interaction of gender and coping style for stress were not related to the emotional eating behavior. Both of male and female students who preferred an emotion focused coping style reported the highest score in emotional eating behavior. The limitations of the present study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
