This study was conducted to investigate the general utilization and preference for the western desserts from confectioneries and hotels by the female university students in Seoul and Kyunggi area. The most high frequency of utilizing western desserts from confectioneries was 1∼3 times a month. Five items of confectionary dessert (chocolate, jelly, candy, cookie and ice cream) were preferred by house-dwellers and non-food science majors. And the families with higher income favoured chocolate and pie. The purchasing frequency of western desserts from confectionery was far more frequent in jelly and candy(1∼3 times a week) compared with chocolate, pies and cookies(1∼3 times a month) and sherbet and ice cream(1∼4 times a year). Hotel was used less frequently for purchasing western desserts. Cake was recognized well as a western dessert by the house-dwellers, and ice cream was recognized better by the apartment-dwellers (p<0.05). And the respondents with food science major had a wider preference for cake, pudding and ice cream(p<0.05).
Rural people of Sudan are endowed with a deep knowledge concerning the utilization of different tree species. However research on the local knowledge related to tree species utilization still lacks adequate attention. The study objectives were to identify the existing local knowledge related to the utilization of the tree species and the existing threats to the availability of the trees. A total of 300 respondents were selected randomly from Rashad district in Nuba Mountains in 2011. Semi-structured interview, direct observation, group discussion, preference ranking and direct matrix ranking were used to collect the data. The study results revealed that people of Nuba Mountains utilize different tree species for food, medicinal purposes, fodder, firewood, construction and cultural ceremonies. The study results also indicated that the availability of trees is negatively influenced by firewood collection, agricultural expansion, drought, overgrazing and charcoal production. The study concluded that local knowledge has crucial role in tree species utilization in Nuba Mountains. Further researches to document and substantiate the local knowledge on useful tree species are highly recommended.
Armington elasticity has been a methodology for analyzing how much imports could increase in response to importing price cuts, assuming the possibility of incomplete substitution of domestic and imported products. This study calculates Armington elasticity values in Korean fisheries sector and presents an analysis method for classifying items based on price and preference differences. The model is modified reflecting the characteristics of the fisheries market along with the typical OLS, PAM, and ECM models. The result's implication is that products with a high import growth rate do not necessarily show a high Armington value, but it could be seen that price is not the only factor facilitating fisheries imports increase. Considering the items of which demand increases due to importing price cuts have an indiscriminate demand between domestic and imported products, the results could be interpreted that the Korean fisheries importing market has been easily affected by the changes in import prices. Fisheries grouping by price and preference demonstrates that explanatory variables other than price should be considered when estimating import demand.
Objectives: This study investigated the utilization and satisfaction of lunchbox by considering the dietary lifestyle of the consumer, in order to refine the purchasing behavior of adults with experience in using lunchboxes, and to provide basic data for efficient menu configuration and direction towards improvement. Methods: A total of 600 adults in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do answered a self-administered questionnaire designed to investigate general characteristics, utilization, menu preference, satisfaction, prospection, and improvement of lunchbox, according to the dietary lifestyle. Results: The study subjects were classified into 5 groups: 'taste seeking group', 'safety seeking group', 'health seeking group', 'economic seeking group' and 'convenience seeking group. Considering purchase value of the lunchbox, the 'taste seeking group' had a high utilization rate (35.1%) for prices less than 4,000 won (P < 0.05). Lunchboxes were mainly purchased at the lunchbox store (43.3%) and convenience store (37.7%). The important factor that contributed to purchasing a lunchbox was taste (61.3%), which was highest in the 'taste seeking group' (P < 0.01). The 'health seeking group' showed the highest preference for the low-salt diet lunchbox menu (26.0%) (P < 0.05). The satisfaction of 'health seeking groups' was lowest when considering addition of condiments (2.34%), origin of ingredient (2.59%), and provided calorie (2.81%) (P < 0.05). The overall response indicated future use of the lunchbox (69.6%) (P < 0.01); 35.8% respondents recommended the purchase of lunchbox, where convenience of purchase was the highest factor contributing to recommendation (50.2%) (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Taken together, our results indicate that taste was emphasized in every group purchasing the lunch box. Convenience of purchase was the highest factor contributing to satisfaction, which was relatively low when considering addition of condiments, nutrition and origin of ingredients. We propose that it is necessary to improve the development of various menus for increasing satisfaction by selecting the right ingredients contributing to good health of the consumer.
This study was conducted to investigate the recognition, utilization, preference and application of kimchi, as well as to evaluate the recognition and requirement for commercial kimchi to university students. A questionnaire was answered by 180 (44.0%) male and 229 (56.0%) female university students in Daegu. The methods used to analyze the items were frequency analysis, Chi-squared tests and t-tests. Most of the respondents reported that they liked kimchi and had a preference for ripened kimchi In addition, most students were likely to cook kimchi by pan-broiling which indicates that the development of kimchi designed for pan-broiling may lead to an increase in the intake of kimchi. The recognition and utilization of commercial kimchi abutted through wholesale market very much, and were buying The marketing points that could most increase the sales of kimchi appeared to be 'hygiene' and 'standardization of taste and ageing' for male students 42 (23.7%) and 'hygiene' for female students 94 (41.4%) (p<0.01). All students responded that among marketing techniques for the sale of kimchi, diversification of taste, and increasing the recognition of kimchi were the most important parameters for aggressive globalization of the sale of kimchi. Therefore, the consumption of kimchi will increase in response to changes a dietary life style and activation is a plan getting done, and it is thought consumption of a kimchi to reflect these results well.
This study was conducted to understand the perception and the usage pattern of egg dishes in university students. The questionnaires were collected from 200 university students residing in Seoul. The age group was 118 (59.0%) in 20s, 50 (25.0%) in 30s, and 32 (16.5%) in 40s and older. Also, 179 (89.5%) were undergraduate students and 21 (10.5%) were graduates. The result of food preferences in the overall survey was as follows: Meats and Poultry (4.46±1.03) > Seafoods (2.92±1.41) > Fruits (2.91±1.17) > Eggs (2.50±1.10) > Vegetables (2.21±1.17). The preference of foods using eggs as the main ingredient was as follows: Rolled egg (4.07±0.81) > Steamed egg (4.05±0.91) > Scrambled egg (3.83±1.03) > Rice omelet (3.77±1.03). The preference of foods using eggs as sub-ingredient was Egg in Ramyeon (4.11±1.08) > Fried egg over Bibimbob (3.87±0.91) > Sliced boiled egg in Naengmyeon (3.78±1.11). The preference of eggs as desserts was Egg tart (4.01±1.08) > Sponge cake (3.72±1.09) > Egg bread (3.63±1.13). The result of the frequency of eating eggs indicating that approximately two-thirds of university students consumed eggs more than 3 times a week. Although there was no significant difference, male students not only consumed eggs more frequently than female students, but also consumed a higher amount. In recent years, since one-person household in college students tends to increase, it is more important to save cooking time and food quality. Thus, the development and dissemination of various egg recipes should be prioritized for university students.
The purposes of this study are, 1) to explore the factors related to the family caregivers' preferences for service utilization both of the community-based welfare and health-care services, and 2) to examine the reasons why not want to use services analyzing a survey data obtained from family caregivers(n=1,000). Anderson and Newman's Behavior model was employed to examine the factors related to the preferences for service utilization. The main results are as follows. 1) Logistic regression analyses demonstrated that predisposing factor(such as age and relations with frail elderly) and enabling factor(such as economic status, secondary caregiver, informal informational support provider, etc) were significant predictor for caregivers' preference for service utilization. Contrary to an expectation, needs factor was negatively related to the preference for service. More specifically, the more they have service needs, the less they show their willingness to use community-based service both in welfare and health-care services except for care education program. 2) Caregiver identified 'family caregiving consciousness'(family should take care of frail elderly, elderly dislike be taken care of) as an important reason not want to use community services next to financial factor. These findings have several implications for policy making especially for 'public long-term care insurance' which was planned to start in 2007.

The intensity of illumination was below 500lux at 24 buildings of interior spaces surveyed. Generally the temperature was 24~$26^{\circ}C$, and humidity was 60~70%. 2. Total number of introduced tree species were 9 familiar, 16 genus, 18 species, especially palm genus were the largest tree among them at these surveyed interior spaces, but native trees were only 2 species. The introduced tree of 2 to 3m in height was 46 percent, and the case of 1.2 to 2m was 42 percent. 3. The mean of visual preference was the highest at Rhapis excelsa and howeia belmoreana, and followed with Neolitsea sericea, Daphniphllum macropodum, Listsea japonicum. In the mean of visual preference for selected tree groups, native tree was not different as compared with introduced tree. 4. Visual image factor of the native and introduced trees at interior spaces was classified by individual factor and emotional factor. These 2 factors were shown 66.5% total variance. The native tree was strongly recognized on individual factor, as , and introduced tree was also strongly recognized on emotional factor. 5. In the analysis of visual preference and image, a difference between the selected groups of the introduced and native trees were not shown significant, and the introduced trees were similar to the native trees on the visual image. This result was as follow There was an analogy between Cinnamomum camphora, Ligustrum japonicum and Ficus retusa, Ficus benjamina. There is an analogy between Castanopsis cuspidata var. sieboldii, Cinnamomum japonicum and Ficus retusa, Ficus benjamina. There was an analogy between Elaeocarpus sylvestris var. ellipticus, Fatsia japonica and Rhapis excelsa, Howeia belmoreana. There was an analogy between Neolitsea sericea, Daphniphyllum macropo여, Listsea japonica and Rhapis excelsa, Howeia belmoreana. There was an analogy between Elaeocarpus sylvestris var. ellipticus, Fatsia japonica and Dracaena fragranse, Ficus elastica, Monstera deliciosa.
