The Causal Relations of Children′s Behavior Problems, Locus of Control and Mother′s Childrearing Behavior (아동의 또래괴롭힘과 관련변인간의 인과관계 -아동의 행동문제, 내외통제소재와 어머니의 양육행동을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships of mother's childrearing behavior, children's behavior problems, locus of control and peer victimization. The subjects were 360 children of 4th and 6th grade and their mothers. The instruments were Peer Victimization Scale, CBCL, Locus of Control Scale for Children, Childrearing Behavior Scale. The major findings of this study were as follows; (1) The type of peer victimization had a significant difference between girls and boys. That is, boys were more focused on overt victimization than girls. There was no significant gender difference in relational victimization, And there was no significant grade difference in overt and relational victimization. (2) Mother's rejection-restriction childrearing behavior, children's social withdrawal behavior problems, extemal locus of control predicted children's peer victimization. 24% of the variance of children's peer victimization was explained by these variables. (3) Mother's rejection-restriction childrearing behavior was the first contribution factor and had a direct and indirect effect through children's locus of control on children's peer victimization. And children's social withdrawal behavior problems was second contribution factor and had a direct effect on children's peer victimization. Children's locus of control had a direct and indirect effect through children's social withdrawal behavior problems on children's peer victimization. Mother's warmth-acceptance and permissiveness-nonintervention childrearing behavior had indirect effect through children's locus of control on children's peer victimization.

Boosted Regression Method based on Rejection Limits for Large-Scale Data (대량 데이터를 위한 제한거절 기반의 회귀부스팅 기법)

  • The purpose of this study is to challenge a computational regression-type problem, that is handling large-size data, in which conventional metamodeling techniques often fail in a practical sense. To solve such problems, regression-type boosting, one of ensemble model techniques, together with bootstrapping-based re-sampling is a reasonable choice. This study suggests weight updates by the amount of the residual itself and a new error decision criterion which constructs an ensemble model of models selectively chosen by rejection limits. Through these ideas, we propose AdaBoost.RMU.R as a metamodeling technique suitable for handling large-size data. To assess the performance of the proposed method in comparison to some existing methods, we used 6 mathematical problems. For each problem, we computed the average and the standard deviation of residuals between real response values and predicted response values. Results revealed that the average and the standard deviation of AdaBoost.RMU.R were improved than those of other algorithms.

The Mediated Effect of Ego Resiliency on the Association between Mother-child Communication and Preschool Children's Peer Competence (어머니-유아의 의사소통이 유아의 또래유능성에 미치는 영향: 자아탄력성의 매개효과)

  • Objective: This study examined the association between mother-child communication and preschool children's peer competence mediated by ego resiliency Methods: The data from 318 preschool age children and their mothers in Seoul and Gyung-Gi province were used for this study. Mothers reported mother-child communication using three subscales from the revised parent-child communication inventory(Barnes & Oslom, 1982). This study used four subscales from the Korea Personality Inventory for Children (KPI-C)in order to calculate children's ego resiliency and used six subscales from the Child Behavior Scales(Ladd & Profile, 1996). The data were analyzed using Multiple Regression in SPSS 19.0. Results: Positive mother-child communication predicted a higher level of children's ego resiliency and peer competence. Ego resiliency fully mediated the association between mother-child communication and prosocial competence, rejection against peers and insecurity. And positive mother-child communication predicted lower levels of children's aggression, dissociality and irritability. Its association was also mediated by ego resiliency. Conclusion/Implications: These findings indicated that a mother's positive communication with their child would enhance children's ego resiliency and peer competence in preschool children. Thus, the efforts to facilitate parents' positive communication skills in parent education can be promising for preschool children's positive development.

A Time-Sharing TX/RX Control Technique for the Rejection of Feedback Noise Jamming Interference (피드백 잡음재밍 간섭제거를 위할 시분할 송수신 제어기법)

  • When the isolation between transmitter and receiver in Electronic Warfare equipment is not sufficient, the radiated noise jamming signal from the transmitter feeds back into the receiver and interferes with receiving radar pulse signal. Therefore pulse jamming and noise jamming can't be performed together in the same frequency bands. In this paper, we present a time-sharing TX/RX control technique of the switch matrix which inhibits the transmission of noise jamming signal by using the predicted gate of pulse train and also makes the corresponding channel filter operate to receive the radar pulse signal during the predicted gate pulse. This technique was implemented by EPLD and confirmed by experiment. The proposed technique enables the pulse jamming and the noise jamming to be simultaneously executed in multiple jamming environments.

Nuclear Transfer using Human CD59 and IL-18BP Double Transgenic Fetal Fibroblasts in Miniature Pigs

  • Xenotransplantation involves multiple steps of immune rejection. The present study was designed to produce nuclear transfer embryos, prior to the production of transgenic pigs, using fibroblasts carrying transgenes human complement regulatory protein hCD59 and interleukin-18 binding protein (hIL-18BP) to reduce hyperacute rejection (HAR) and cellular rejection in pig-to-human xenotransplantation. In addition to the hCD59-mediated reduction of HAR, hIL-18BP may prevent cellular rejection by inhibiting the activation of natural killer cells, activated T-cell proliferation, and induction of $IFN-{\gamma}$. Transgene construct including hCD59 and ILI-18BP was introduced into miniature pig fetal fibroblasts. After antibiotic selection of double transgenic fibroblasts, integration of the transgene was screened by PCR, and the transgene expression was confirmed by RT-PCR. Treatment of human serum did not affect the survival of double-transgenic fibroblasts, whereas the treatment significantly reduced the survival of non-transgenic fibroblasts (p<0.01), suggesting alleviation of HAR. Among 337 reconstituted oocytes produced by nuclear transfer using the double transgenic fibroblasts, 28 (15.3%) developed to the blastocyst stage. Analysis of individual embryos indicated that 53.6% (15/28) of embryos contained the transgene. The result of the present study demonstrates the resistance of hCD59 and IL-18BP double-transgenic fibroblasts against HAR, and the usefulness of the transgenic approach may be predicted by RT-PCR and cytolytic assessment prior to actual production of transgenic pigs. Further study on the transfer of these embryos to surrogates may produce transgenic clone miniature pigs expressing hCD59 and hIL-18BP for xenotransplantation.

Peer Relationships as Risk and Protective Factors in the Behavior Problems of Elementary School Children (학령기 행동문제의 위험요인과 보호요인으로서의 또래관계)

  • This study examined relationships between peer variables and externalizing behavior problems of 290 4th and 5th grade children in elementary school. The children completed the Friendship Quality Scale and the peer nomination questionnaire. Parents and teachers rated behavior problems of children using the Connors' Rating Scale. Results indicated that rejected children had more behavior problems than popular, average, or neglected children. Socio-emotional supports from a close friend and satisfaction with the friend were negatively related to behavior problems. Behavior problems were mainly predicted by low peer acceptance, and behavior problems of rejected children were negatively and strongly related to socio-emotional supports of a close friend. In conclusion, peer rejection was a risk factor and a friend's support was a protective factor for externalizing behavior problems in 4th and 5th graders.

  • An analysis method to predict performance of a vehicle cooling system which is composed of radiator, A/C condenser, cooling fan, and etc. is suggested. Air flow through the heat exchanger system and heat rejection rate which dominate the cooling performance are analyzed. Heat transfer with A/C refrigerant phase change is also considered in the analysis. Some predicted results are compared with experimental data for various operating conditions. This evaluation procedure will be useful for the design of optimal vehicle cooling system.

The Compact UHF CT-Type BandPass Filter with a Mixed Coupling

  • This paper presents the design of the compact UHF Bandpass filter of CT-type with a novel mixed coupling topology. In further detail, this new coupling structure mathematically equals the transmission zero that enables particularly the better rejection performance in the stopband without increasing the filter's order. To envision this design concept, we fabricated a microstrip filter whose measurement proves to agree with the predicted performance and the suggested coupling structure reduces the overall size, and will be possibly used in the miniaturized UHF apparatus such as the RFID system.

  • This study examined the relationships of children's peer competence with maternal parenting styles and children's emotion regulation. Thirty boys and thirty-one girls in 3 to 6 years of age and their mothers participated. Mothers responded to Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire(Hwang, 1997), and teachers rutted each child using Peer Competence Scale(Park & Rhee, 2001) and Emotional Intelligence Scale(Lee, 1997). Mothers'acceptive parenting style and children's abilities to regulate emotion were positively related to children's peer competence. Children's emotion regulation rather than mothers' parenting styles predicted peer competence.

The Effects of Slider Design on Thermal Asperity Rejection Capability

  • Particle contamination has been an ongoing problem affecting the reliability of the magnetic hard disk drives. Especially the recent use of MR head requires much tighter control of particle contamination due to thermal asperity (TA) phenomenon. In this study, the effects of slider air bearing surface design of TA reduction capability were investigated by manufacturing two types of sliders. Numerical methods were used to simulate the motion of particles in the head/media interface. Experiments were conducted to verify the results predicted by the numerical simulation. Drives were built and exposed to particle contamination using a particle injection chamber, which turned out to be a very simple and reliable particle generation method over conventional aerosol technique. Then the number of TA generated in the drives was recorded and compared. Also the contacts between slider and particles were investigated by acoustic emission study. It was found that a new ABS design, which has aerodynamic U-shaped rail and central flow passage, was beneficial in reducing the particle contamination on the slider.
