  • The study examined whether small group filial therapy for maladjusted young children and their mothers would improve children's interpersonal relationships. Two mother-child pairs participated in the program consisting 12 group parent education sessions by a therapist and 6 sessions of supervised play therapy. All 18 sessions ran 85-90 minutes once a week. Results showed positive changes on initiated interactions, co-play, emotional closeness and manifest joy in mother-child play interactions. Scores of playfulness rated by two trained observers during weekly group play time for the children showed improvement in terms of physical, social, and cognitive spontaneity, manifest joy and humor. Quality of children's interpersonal relationships in routine life of home and preschool was enhanced according to reports of mothers and preschool teachers.

  • Purpose: The aims of this study is to examine the relationships among spiritual well-being, aggression and happiness of the students in two Christian Universities. Methods: The data were collected from 486 students who were attending Christian Universities in Jeonbuk province. General characteristics, mean value, and correlations were performed using SPSS 18.0 Program to analyze the data. Results: The mean value of the spiritual well-being was 72.03 (SD=9.80), the mean value of aggression was 67.56 (SD=13.90), and the mean value of happiness was 19.54 (SD=4.23). Relationships between spiritual well-being and aggression showed negative correlation ((r=-.251, p<.01), between spiritual well-being and happiness showed positive correlation (r=.455, p<.01), and between happiness and aggression showed negative correlation (r=-.305, p<.01). Conclusion: The findings of this study provide basic data for the development of education programs for personality training and curriculum.

  • The Ecological variables studied in relation to children's school adjustment were organisms(grade, sex, perceived competence, aggression and withdrawal), microsystems(parental support, marital conflict and supervision, peer victimization and perceived teacher attitude), mesosystems(family-peer relationships, family-school relationships) and the exosystem(neighborhood environment). The sample consisted of 565 fifth and sixth grade children. Instruments were the School Adjustment Scale and Index of organisms, microsystems, mesosystems, and exosystem variables. Statistics and methods used for the data analysis were Cronbach's alpha, frequency, percentage, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. Several major results were found from the analysis. First, children's school adjustment showed positive correlations with perceived competence, parental support and supervision, perceived teacher attitude, family/peer and family/school relationships and neighborhood environment but showed negative correlations with grade, aggression, withdrawal and parental marital conflict and peer victimization. Second, the most important variable predicting child's relationship with teacher, his/her academic adjustment and satisfaction in schoolwas perceived teacher attitude. And the most important variable predicting children's peer relationships in school was perceived social competence.

  • This paper aims to explore the strategic roles of information and strategic planning capabilities for firms' performance, and to examine the direct and indirect relationships between information capability, strategic planning capability, logistics performance and competitive advantage. The present research adopts resource based theory (RBT) to explore the relationships between a firm's specific capability and its performance and employs structural equation modelling (SEM) in order to test the validation of the measurement models and examine the relationships between construct variables. The current empirical test was conducted using the data collected from logistics managers of 101 Korean electronics companies. The empirical research presents positive influential relationships between (1) information/planning formality capability and strategic planning capability; (2) strategic planning capability and logistics performance; (3) logistics performance and competitive advantage; and (4) competitive advantage and competitive position in the market.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how children's sibling relationships were related to their self-esteem. 440 children and their only siblings were asked to respond to two questionnaires concerning the two research variables. The questionnaires used were the SRQ (Furman & Buhrmester, 1985) and the SPPC (Harter, 1985). Ther data were analyzed through correlation analyses, stepwise multiple regression analyses, and canonical correlation analyses. The results were as follows : Warmth·Intimacy and Rivalry (parental partiality toward the child himself/herself) had positive correlations with the child's self-esteem, while sibling Conflict had negative correlations and Relative Status·Power had little correlation. The best predictor of children's self-esteem was sibling Warmth·Intimacy. The next powerful determinants were Conflict and Rivalry. Among the six self-esteem measures, the one predicted best by sibling relationships was Global Self-Worth. The next ones were Behavior·Conduct and Scholastic Competence. The findings revealed that the predictive power of the sibling relationships factors varied considerably according to such status variables as sex and birth order of children and to whether each of the two research variables was analyzed as a whole or at a factor level.

  • We examine the value of information sharing in the context of supplier-buyer relationships after controlling for trading partners' opportunism. Given that trading partners' opportunism is not randomly chosen, we explicitly incorporate their self-selection process into our estimation procedure by employing Heckman's self-selection model. According to our analysis, firms that have built safeguards via mutual trust, commitments and information sharing experience less opportunistic risk in supplier-buyer relationships. Our findings also suggest that information sharing has a positive impact on firm performance after controlling for opportunism. Further, firms that are less exposed to trading partners' opportunistic risk have achieved a higher performance than others that are more exposed. Importantly, higher performance for those firms with less opportunistic risk is driven by safeguards in supplier-buyer relationships as well as information sharing. Our findings can be applied for systems analysts to design information systems of supplier-buyer transactions.

  • Amicable brand relationships between consumers and brands are connected with consumers' positive attitude and strong attachment to the brands; therefore, it is necessary to examine the factors which affect consumers in forming brand relationships. Through theoretical review, two variables, brand association and brand communication, were manifested as important factors in building brand relationships. The purposes of this study were to identify the different types of brand association, and to examine the influence of brand association and brand communication on brand relationships. The survey which focused on ten casual wear brands and 739 young female students was conducted from August 20 to September 12, 2000. Spss 8.0 was used for factor analysis and regression analysis. Brand association was further delineated into brand value association and brand personality association and each variable consisted of several factors. Both performance value and emotional value among brand value association factors and both pride and sincerity among brand personality association factors showed goons influence on building brand relationship. Brand communication showed significant influence on brand relationship directly and indirectly.

  • Purpose: We investigated the impact of parent, teacher, and peer relationships on adolescent school life satisfaction and confirmed the mediating effects of delinquency experiences on this relationship in this study. The structural equation modeling technique was used to analyze survey data from 650 adolescents in the W area for this survey study. The following are the key findings: First, the more positive adolescents' relationships with their parents, teachers, and peers, the lower their delinquency and the greater their satisfaction with school life. The study also discovers that delinquency experiences have a mediating effect on the relationships between parents, teachers, and peers, as well as on adolescents' school life satisfaction. Based on these findings, we present convergent intervention and practice strategies for improving adolescent school life satisfaction.
