화장품산업 초기 기술창업기업의 성장요인에 관한 사례연구: 충북창조경제혁신센터 6개월챌린지플랫폼사업의 지원기업 중심으로 (Case Study on the Growth Factors of Young Technology Startups in the Cosmetics Industry: Focusing on the Six-month Challenge Platform project of Chungbuk Creation Economic Innovation Center)

  • The Korean government has been focusing on supporting technology startups to solve social and economic problems such as low growth, declining economic growth rate, rising youth unemployment rate and lack of new growth engine. Although the failure rate of young technology startups is very high, relevant researches are still scant. On the basis of previous researches, this study has identified four growth factors of technology startups: characteristics of entrepreneurs, technical superiority and originality of business items, focused marketing strategy, and follow-up government support projects. Five young technology startup cases were selected and analyzed in the cosmetics industry which were supported by the Six-month Challenge Platform project of Chungbuk Creation Economic Innovation Center. The main findings of the case study were as follows: First, product development through inhouse R&D rather than external contracted R&D was beneficial to acquiring follow-up government support projects and external investment. Second, choosing a small niche market and concentrating marketing efforts on the target market had a positive effect on firm performance. And, third, relevance of entrepreneurs' college major and technological originality of business items were confirmed to influence firm performance positively in the early stage. The results are expected to help young technology startups survive successfully and establish a foothold for growth in their early stage.

해외자회사 환경요인이 국제기술이전 및 혁신성과에 미치는 영향 : S-C-P 패러다임 관점에서 (The Influence of External Environmental Factors on Technology Transfer between Foreign MNCs and Local Subsidiaries: Based on SCP Paradigm)

  • Technology transfer from a multinational company to a local subsidiary is essential for successful local market operations. This study aims to analyze the impact of market, cultural and institutional environmental factors on international technology transfer and innovation performance based on the S-C-P paradigm. We collected data from one hundred ninety-five subsidiaries of Korean parent firms located in seventeen countries and used structural equation modeling to test hypotheses. The analysis findings are as follow; First, both market and cultural environment directly affect international technology transfer. However, institutional environment such as protection of intellectual property does not affect international technology transfer. Due to the less risk of technology disclosure involved in technology transfer within the MNE organization can be not relationship between protection of intellectual property in the host country and the foreign subsidiary's transfer of technology. The risk of infringement of intellectual property is relatively low in intra-firm transfer of technology. Second, the technology introduced from the parent company has a positive effect on the innovation performance of local subsidiaries. This implies that multinational companies that have entered unfamiliar overseas markets should be able to effectively transfer the inherent advantages of the parent company to their overseas subsidiaries, and that their ability to adapt to the local environment is important.

경계연결리더십이 조직구성원의 자기효능감, 역할 외 활동, 그리고 흡수역량에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Boundary-spanning Leadership on Self-efficacy, Extra-role Behavior, and Absorptive Capacity)

  • Due to the uncertainty of dynamic business environment, modern organizations have been giving attention to dynamic capabilities beyond traditional notion of core competence. Among them, absorptive capacity and boundary-spanning activity are considered the most important. The former refers to activities regarding acquisition, assimilation, transformation and exploitation of internal and external knowledge. The latter is composed of boundary-loosening and boundary-tightening activities to detect internal or external information and then to preserve, protect, or acquire resources. Thus, both have achieved wide recognition as a potential source of change and innovation. This study investigated the cross-level relation between boundary-spanning leadership at team level and absorptive capacity at individual level. We also explored self-efficacy and extra-role behavior that can affect employees' absorptive capacity. To test multi-level analysis, the survey data were collected from 862 members in 137 teams of different firms. Results revealed that boundary-spanning leadership had the positive cross-level impact on absorptive capacity in the team context. Moreover, absorptive capacity was positively associated with self-efficacy and extra-role behavior at individual level. Based on these findings, we provided theoretical and practical implications to address rapidly changing environments and discussed limitations of this paper for further research.

Consumer Perceptions on SST in Retail Atmosphere: An application of S-O-R framework

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to understand the internal and external responses that consumers experience when they are exposed to an innovative system in retail stores. This study considered the SST(Self-Service Technology) system in a retail setting as a type of functional environmental stimuli and selected a smart shopping cart as an example of SST system. The influences of functional environmental stimuli on consumers' emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses were examined by applying S-O-R model. In addition, this study attempted to extend the traditional S-O-R model by (a) incorporating personal characteristics variables such as time pressure and perceived crowding and (b) considering not only emotional but also cognitive aspects of consumers' internal responses. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: This study used a video-scenario technique. Participants watched a video about grocery shopping situations using a smart shopping cart and responded to their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses. An online survey was conducted using Amazon's Mechanical Turk (N = 185). All participants were US consumers over 20 years old and had been shopping at the grocery store in the last month. Data were analyzed through structural equations modeling with AMOS 20. Results: Test results showed that consumers who perceived higher levels of time pressure and perceived crowding in usual shopping situations were more likely to evaluate the SST system favorably. The results showed that personal characteristics have a significant impact on consumers' evaluation of functional environmental stimuli in retail setting. As consumers evaluated the SST system favorably, they experienced more positive affect and less negative affect during their shopping behaviors. Positive affect led to good service quality inference, which further increased patronize intention. However, negative affect did not show a significant impact on service quality inference, but only on patronize intention. Conclusions: This study attempted to investigate the influence of SST system by extending the traditional S-O-R model. This study classified the SST system as functional environmental stimulus of retail stores and analyzed the effect of stimulus on consumers' internal and external responses. The results of this study showed that the introduction of innovative SST can serve as an effective store differentiation strategy in an increasingly competitive retail environment.

우리나라 해운선사의 사회적 책임활동 선행요인이 직무만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of CSR Leading Factors of Korean Shipping Companies on CSR Implementation and Job Satisfaction)

  • 기업의 사회적 책임에 대한 중요성이 커지면서 다양한 산업에서 그 성과를 규명한 연구들은 활발하게 이루어져 왔으나, CSR을 이끄는 선행요인에 관한 연구는 매우 제한적으로 이루어져 왔다. 본 연구는 CSR이 당면과제로 부상하고 있는 해운선사를 대상으로 CSR의 실행에 영향을 미치는 조직 내·외부 요인을 실증적으로 규명하였다. 국내 해운선사 43개 기업을 대상으로 Smart PLS 3.0과 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과, 선사의 조직 내부 요인으로 CSR에 대한 기대, 최고경영자의 지원, 재무적 자원은 모두 CSR실행에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 선사의 조직 외부 요인으로 규제변화, 화주의 요구수준은 선사의 CSR 실행에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 반면, 경쟁사의 대처수준은 기각되었다. 선사의 CSR실행은 종업원들의 직무만족도를 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 국내 선사들의 CSR 실행력을 높이기 위해 어떤 요인들이 동인으로 작용하는지 실증적으로 규명하였다는데 의의가 있다.

  • 본 연구는 사회적으로 환경에 대한 이슈화가 기업의 내·외부 네트워크 구축 및 환경경영활동을 통해 지속가능 환경경영성과에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 한다. 기업체 대상의 163개의 최종 수집 자료를 통한 분석한 결과, 사회적 환경이슈화는 내부공유 시스템에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으나 규제대응과 협력네트워크 구축에는 모두 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기업의 환경에 대한 규제대응은 내부공유시스템과 협력네트워크 구축, 그리고 환경경영활동 모두에 정(+)의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 내부공유시스템과 협력네트워크 구축이 환경경영활동에 모두 정(+)의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 환경경영활동이 지속가능 환경경영성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 환경이슈화는 기업의 지속가능한 성장을 촉진시켜 환경경영활동과 성과를 이끌고 있음을 나타냈다.

The Effect of Service Qualities' Characteristics on Customer Satisfaction and Revisit Intention in Chinese Mid/Low-Priced Hotel

  • Purpose: Before COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese mid/low-priced hotel industry has been steadily growing in recent years, and internal and external competition has been intensifying. Under these circumstances, this study started with a strategic objective to increase the quality of service, thus enabling customer satisfaction and revisit intention. For enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese mid/low-priced hotel business, we plan to establish a model using SERVQUAL, O2O platform, and identify their relationship through empirical analyses. Research design, data and methodology: Through the consideration of the existing literature, this study intended to identify the characteristics of service quality in Chinese mid/low-priced hotels and to consider their impact on customer satisfaction and revisit intention. We also wanted to examine the moderating effect of the O2O platform between the characteristics of service quality and customer satisfaction. A survey was carried out on customers using mid/low-priced hotels in China and empirical analyses were conducted using regression analyses. Results: First, in the hypothesis of service qualities' effects on customer satisfaction were identified with significant positive effects. Second, in the hypothesis of service qualities' effects on revisit intention, "tangibles, reliability, and empathy" have shown significant positive. Third, in the verification of the moderating effect of the O2O platform, there were "positive partial moderating effects" between service qualities and customer satisfaction. Finally, the effect of customer satisfaction on revisit intention was positive significant. Conclusions: In order to satisfy their customers, improvements in service quality should be made first. In addition, customer satisfaction had a positive impact on revisit intention. In order to revitalize Chinese mid/low-priced hotels, differentiation strategy is also needed for specialized customers such as college students, and basically, efforts should be made to optimize the O2O platform. O2O platforms should establish optimal platform construction strategies based on the customer's perspective. After all, in the case of Chinese mid/low-priced hotels, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of the latest hardware infrastructure and O2O platform of software infrastructure, and to improve customers' advanced online and offline experiences. Finally, regarding the hypothesis that was rejected among service qualities' characteristics, we tried to discuss the reason and find the implications of these.

Determining Correlation between Experiences of a Sensory Courtyard and DAS (Depression, Anxiety and Stress)

  • Background and objective: There is growing concern about the effects of modern society on mental health, coming with Covid-19-related caveats on depression, anxiety, and stress (DAS). This can be a subject to provide alternative methods which alleviate DAS. In line with this context, sensory gardens are widely acknowledged to stimulate the five major senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell) and can have a significant (positive) impact on mental health. However, there is limited empirical evidence on the effect of these gardens with regard to alleviating DAS - particularly with respect to urban society This is a gab in knowledge how such limits can be addressed. Accordingly, this present study is clearly needed in order to verify if there are any correlations between sensory gardens and (positive) effects on DAS. The aim of this study was therefore to understand current levels of DAS in a high density building with a sensory garden in a courtyard and determine correlations between experiences in the sensory courtyard and levels of DAS. Methods: The Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) was employed to test the level of DAS. Results: Additionally, 13 different factors associated with experiences in the building, including the stimulation of the five major senses in the sensory courtyard, were measured to reveal their contribution to mitigating depression, anxiety, and stress. It is noted that the average levels of DAS were 7.91, 7.77 and 9.01 respectively indicating that the mental health of participants requires mental health management. However, results show that factors associated with the sensory courtyard could improve mental health. For example, new social relationships, walking with colleagues, and the stimulation of each of the five major senses in the sensory garden could improve DAS. Conclusion: This illustrates that external experiences are more effective at mitigating depression, anxiety, and stress than internal ones. Factor analysis revealed four components: stimulating the five senses; internal and external facilities; internet-based device use; and new social relationships. There was a strong positive correlation between new social relationships and walking with colleagues. There were also strong positive correlations among the stimulation of each of the five senses. In conclusion, there are strong indications that sensory courtyards can help alleviate DAS and should therefore be promoted, particularly in the current Covid-19 situation wherein the physical and mental health of the public at large are threatened. Accordingly, courtyard design should be rethought in light of the relationship between the positive impact of sensory gardens and mental health.

개인의 기업가정신과 조직몰입의 관계에서 대내·외 네트워크와 창의적 효능감의 매개효과에 관한 연구 (A study on mediating effect of internal and external networks and creative efficacy in the relationship of individual entrepreneurship and organizational commitment)

  • 본 연구는 기존에 연구된 선행연구를 토대로 기업에 종사하는 개인들이 지닌 기업가정신과 대내 외 네트워크 그리고 창의적 효능감이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보았다. 또한 개인의 기업가정신과 조직몰입 간의 관계에서 개인이 사회적 환경에서 구축하는 대내 외 네트워크와 과거의 경험에서 얻을 수 있는 창의적 효능감을 통한 매개효과가 존재할 것이라는 가설을 세우고, 실증연구를 통해 밝히고자 하였다. 분석 자료는 현재 기업에 종사하고 있는 244명으로부터 설문으로 수집되었다. 244명의 각각의 기업에 종사하고 있는 종업원들을 중심으로 이루어진 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 개인의 기업가정신과 조직몰입 간에는 정(+)의 영향을 미침으로써 조직에 대한 몰입과 이를 통한 성과를 위해서 기업의 대표자 뿐 아니라 직원들 개개인 역시 기업가정신의 함양이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기업의 대내 외 네트워크가 개인의 기업가정신과 조직몰입의 관계를 매개함으로써 각 개인이 가진 대 내외 네트워크가 조직 내 개인의 성과에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 셋째, 개인의 기업가정신과 조직몰입 간의 관계에서 창의적 효능감이 매개효과를 보이는 것으로 나타나 개인의 창의성에 대한 자신감 또한 개인의 성과에 중요한 요소로 작용되고 있음을 확인하였다. 특히, 선행연구에서 연구되어 왔던 창의성과 자기효능감의 혼합된 개념인 창의적 효능감이 개인의 기업가 정신과 성과 간의 관계를 매개한다는 사실에서 기업은 소속된 개인들에게 성과로 연결될 수 있는 네트워크뿐 아니라 창의성 향상을 위한 교육이나 프로그램 등을 확충할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다. 결론부분에서는 이에 대한 추가적인 시사점을 제공하였으며, 연구의 한계점과 연구방향에 대해 논의하였다.

발전공기업의 성과지향보수제도가 조직몰입 및 조직성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증 연구 (An Empirical Study on the Performance-oriented remuneration system in the public companies of thermal power generation effects on Organization Commitment and Organizational Performance)

  • 본 연구는 발전공기업의 성과지향보수제도가 실질적으로 직원들의 조직몰입도를 유도하여 조직의 효율성 및 조직성과 제고에 기여하는 지의 여부를 실증적으로 분석하여 공기업의 성과지향보수제도가 나아가야 할 방향을 제시해보려고 했다. 연구결과에 의하면 성과연봉제의 개인별 성과보상 적정성과 성과연봉 확정을 위한 개인별 근무평정은 조직몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치는 반면, 성과배분제의 외부평가(정부경영평가) 및 내부평가는 조직몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 성과연봉제와 성과배분제 모두는 조직성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성과지향보수제도 중 성과연봉제의 보상적정성 및 개인별 근무평정은 조직성과에 직접적으로 영향을 미치며, 조직몰입을 경유하여 간접적으로도 조직성과에 영향을 주어 조직몰입도의 부분적 매개효과가 있음이 검증되었으나, 외부평가와 내부평가는 조직몰입과의 영향관계가 유의하지 못하여 매개효과 검증의 의미가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과가 시사하고 있는 점은 공정하고 수용성 있는 평가지표 개발 및 성과지향 보수체계에 대한 제도운영 정책을 회사, 노조 및 직원 모두의 지혜를 모아 수립하여 시행한다면 성과지향보수제도가 회사에 대한 직원들의 애사심 고취 및 조직성과를 향상시켜 국민과 정부에게 신뢰받는 진정한 공기업으로서의 역할을 할 수 있게 된다는 것이다.
