  • The transition of plant life from aquatic algae to land to land plants was one of the major events in the history of life. However, in hypothesizing the exact evolutionary path of the transition, limited shared phenotypic characters in aquatic algae and land plants (embryophytes) have been a major hinderance. Chloroplast genomes contain characters useful in tracing evolutionary histories. Embryophyte chloroplast genomes are distinguished from algal cpDNAs by having over 20 group Ⅱ introns, some of which were gained during the transition from algae to embryophytes (Manhart and Palmer 1990; Lew and Manhart 1993;Lee and Manhart 2002). Here we examine a gene cluster that, in land plants, contains psbB, psbT, psbH, petB and petD with introns found in petB and petD (petB.i and petD.i). In addition the presence/absence of introns in trnA and trnI (trnA.i and trnI.i) were determined in all five major lineages of charophytes. We found that the psbB gene cluster occurs in most surveyed charophytes and embryophytes except Spirogyra (Zygnematales) which lacks it due to intra-genomic rearrangement. All four introns are absent in Chlorokybus but present in some or all of the other four charophyte lineages (Klebsormidiales, Zygnematales, Coleochaetales, and Charales). In addition, Chlorokybus is distinguished from other charophytes and embryophytes by having an unusually long spacer (over 2 kb) between psbH-petB. The results indicate that Chlorokybus diverged before the intron gains but after psbB gene cluster formation, placing the other charophyte lineages closer to embryophytes.

  • Purpose Recently PET/CT image's attenuation correction is used CTAC(Computed Tomgraphy Attenuation Correction). it can quantitative evaluation by SUV(Standard Uptake Value). This study's purpose is to evaluate SUV and to find proper CT kernel using CTAC with applied various CT kernel to PET/CT construction. Materials and Methods Biograph mCT 64 was used for the equipment. We were performed on 20 patients who had examed at our hospital from february through March 2017. Using NEMA IEC Body Phantom, The data was reconstructed PET/CT images with CTAC appiled various CT kernel. ANOVA was used to evaluated the significant difference in the result. Results The result of measuring the radioactivity concentration of Phantom was B45F 96% and B80F 6.58% against B08F CT kernel, each respectively. the SUVmax increased to B45F 0.86% and B80F 6.54% against B08F CT kernel, In case of patient's parts data, the Lung SUVmax increased to B45F 1.6% and B80F 6.6%, Liver SUVmax increased to B45F 0.7% and B80F 4.7%, and Bone SUVmax increased to B45F 1.3% and B80F 6.2%, respectively. As for parts of patient's about Standard Deviation(SD), the Lung SD increased to B45F 4.2% and B80F 15.4%, Liver SD increased to B45F 2.1% and B80F 11%, and Bone SD increased to B45F 2.3% and B80F 14.7%, respectively. There was no significant difference discovered in three CT kernel (P >.05). Conclusion When using increased noise CT kernel for PET/CT reconstruction, It tends to change both SUVmax and SD in ROI(region of interest), Due to the increase the CT kernel number, Sharp noise increased in ROI. so SUVmax and SD were highly measured, but there was no statistically significant difference. Therefore Using CT kernel of low variation of SD occur less variation of SUV.

  • To improve the adhesion properties between the conductive paste and PET film, the PET film was chemically treated using acids and bases and physically treated through corona discharge. A paste using ethylcellulose, which is used in actual industrial manufacturing and silane-treated CNF, as a binder was manufactured and coated on PET film to compare the adhesive properties. The specimen coated with a paste containing silane-treated CNF as a binder on a corona discharge-treated PET film showed the highest level of adhesion, 5B. On the other hand, it was confirmed that when PET film was chemically treated with acid/base, there was no improvement in adhesive properties.

  • A 52-year-old woman with a history of general weakness, fatigue, weight loss, elevated serum levels of liver transaminase enzyme for three months underwent an F-18 FDG PET/CT scan to evaluate a cause of the hepatosplenomegaly found on abdominal ultrasonography. Initial PET/CT revealed markedly enlarged liver and spleen with intense FDG uptake. Otherwise, there were no areas of abnormal FDG uptake in whole body image. Histological evaluation by a hepatic needle biopsy demonstrated diffuse large B cell type lymphoma and final diagnosis for this patient was hepatosplenic B-cell lymphoma. She received five cycles of CHOP chemotherapy, and second PET/CT scan was followed after then. Follow-up PET-CT revealed normal sized liver with disappearance of abnormal FDG uptake. Hepatosplenic B-cell lymphoma is relatively rare and mostly presents as single or multiple nodules.1,2 Diffuse type hepatosplenic lymphoma is extremely rare and poorly recognized entity.3 The diagnosis is very difficult and complicated by the presence of misleading symptoms.4 In this rare hepatosplenic B-cell lymphoma case, F-18 FDG PET/CT scan provided a initial diagnostic clue of hepatosplenic lymphoma and an accurate chemotherapy response.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare C-11 choline and F-18 FDG PET/CT, gadoxetic-enhanced 3-T MRI and contrast-enhanced CT for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and Methods: Twelve chronic hepatitis B patients suspected of having HCC by abdominal ultrasonography received all diagnostic modalities performed within a one-week timeslot. PET/CT results were analyzed visually by two independent nuclear medicine physicians and quantitatively by tumor to background ratio (T/B). Nine patients then had histopathological confirmation. Results: Six patients had well differentiated HCC, while two and one patient(s) were noted with moderately and poorly differentiated HCC, respectively. All were detected by both CT and MRI with an average tumor size of $5.7{\pm}3.8cm$. Five patients had positive C-11 choline and F-18 FDG uptake. Of the remaining four patients, three with well differentiated HCC showed negative F-FDG uptake (one of which showed negative results by both tracers) and one patient with moderately differentiated HCC demonstrated no C-11 choline uptake despite intense F-18 FDG avidity. The overall HCC detection rates with C-11 choline and F-18 FDG were 78% and 67%, respectively, while the sensitivity of F-18 FDG for non-well differentiated HCC was 100%, compared with 83% of C-11 choline. The average T/B of C-11 choline in well-differentiated HCC patients was higher than in moderately and poorly differentiated cases (p=0.5) and vice versa with statistical significance for T/B of F-18 FDG (p = 0.02). Conclusions: Our results suggested better detection rate in C-11 choline for well differentiated HCC than F-18 FDG PET. However, the overall detection rate of PET/CT with both tracers could not compare with contrast-enhanced CT and MRI.

  • The weight loss for the mixture(raw-silk/PET) was tested to investigate the effects of weight loss accelerator on the degumming and weight loss. The degumming loss of raw-silk was decreased while the weight loss polyester(PET) was increased depending on the increase of accelerator concentration. The difference of the weight loss was not significant in raw-silk but the weight loss of PET was increased with the increase of the alkali concentration. The proper degumming of raw-silk was obtained and simultaneously the weight loss of PET was high for the raw-silk/PET "A" and "B" type. The proper degumming of raw-silk was obtained but the weight loss of PET was low for the raw-silk/PET "D" and "E" type. It showed that the typical degumming curve in raw-silk part and the weight loss of PET was increased depending on the treatment time in the weight loss for the fabric composed of raw-silk and PET.

  • Recently, attention has been paid to obtaining bio-polyols from renewable resources. Successful use of these natural ingredients successfully produced in the industry for the synthesis of various polyurethanes is a very important task. In this study, a series of dimethylformamide (DMF) based polyurethanes were synthesized from methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)/1, 4-butanediol and bio-polyol (polytrimethylene ether glycol based on 1, 3-propanediol : B-POL)/polyester polyol (polyadipate diol based on 1,4-butandiol : H-PET). The effect of different ratio of bio-polyol (B-POL)/polyester polyol (H-PET) on the physical properties of polyurethane was investigated. As the B-POL content in B-POL/H-PET mixture increased, the glass transition of soft segment (Tgs) and tensile strength of polyurethane decreased, however, the elongation at break and tear strength increased. On the other hand, artificial leather was produced by wet process using synthesized DMF-based polyurethanes. It was found that there was almost no difference in the effect of the B-POL/H-PET composition on the average size and density (the number of cells per unit volume) of the porous cells formed in artificial leather. These results show that there is no problem in using bio-polyol (B-POL) based polyurethane for artificial leather produced by wet process.

  • The purpose of this paper is to know the effect of Adjustment factor (C) in Penman equation In the modified Penman equation by Doorenbos and Pruitt (1977), Potential Evapotranspiration(PET) was calculated in cases of (1) neglecting Adjustment factor (C=1, 0, A), (2) fixing Day/Night wind ratio (URATIO) to 2.0(B-l) and computing daily URATIO (B-2), and was compared with Actual Evapotranspiration (AET) for paddy fields in Suwon (1985-1986). The followings are a summary of this study results ; 1. Using 1985-1986 meteorological data, daily average PET in cases of A, B-i, B-2 were 4.61 mm/day, 4.81 mm/day and 5.36 mm/day respectively and daily average AET was 4.26 mm/day. The increment ratios of PET based on case A were 100%, 104.34% and 116.27% 2. The range of Adjustment factor (C) in cases of B-i, B-2 were 0.916-1.140 and 0.922-1.392 respectively. 3. The regression coefficient(r) between AET and PET in cases of A, B-i, B-2 were 0.928, 0.924 and 0.915 respectively.
