  • In this study, we have examined how the potential users of IT convergence product use the external information sources for purchasing decision focusing on a case of smartphone. Although the specifications and price of IT convergence products, such as smartphone, tablet pc, and smart TV, are considered as major criteria for purchasing decision, the competitiveness of these factors have disappeared as many companies launch similar products in the market. External information sources play a significant role to differentiate the alternatives by offering value-added experience information. The effect of external information sources becomes stronger for experience and high-involvement product whose performance can be evaluated through only users' direct experience. In this study, we categorized the external information sources for smartphone into five; company ads, personal network, expert group, consumers, and media. Through an empirical study with potential smartphone users, we verified how these external information sources affect users' purchasing decision in the perspective of the perceived attributes of information source, quality of information, and individual's characteristics based on self-regulatory theory.

  • This study tried to know the effect of selection attributes for chicken specialty stores on customer satisfaction and loyalty. IPA analysis on relation between the attributes and the satisfaction showed that most quality-related product attributes such as 'the taste and quality of chicken', 'proper portion', and 'fresh ingredients' had high levels of perceived importance and satisfaction. It indicates that the stores need to keep the current good quality. On the other hand, customers showed lower levels of satisfaction in 'reasonable prices', 'quick delivery'(certainty factors), and 'kindness of employees', so that those attributes need improving. The hypothesis testing showed that supplementary product factors such as 'side dishes offered with chicken', 'use of neat and convenient wrapping package', and 'coupon offers' among the customer selection attributes had a significant impact on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, the owners of chicken specialty stores need to choose a reasonable price to make customers satisfied and shorten delivery time directly related to quality. Also, they need to differentiate their services by continuous employee training and education and provide additional services in order to enhance customer satisfaction for their repurchase.

Therefore, this study sought to examine the question of each clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy culture that the workers perceive to influence their psychological empowerment. Thus, the current study examined the relationship between organizational culture and the psychological empowerment by empirical analysis. Research design, data, and methodology - This study chose four domestic casino companies that are run only for foreigners. Using an offline survey, it analyzed the questionnaire data of the 249 surveys collected from employees working in the sales and service sectors. Independent variables were four types of organizational culture: clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy. Dependent variables were four subcategories of psychological empowerment: meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact. As research methods, the study applied descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis, using SPSS 21.0 statistical program. Results - Among the organizational culture types, the clan and adhocracy cultures, which emphasize flexibility and autonomy, were relatively more important for the psychological empowerment of workers than the hierarchy and market cultures. Clan culture was the most important factor in terms of meaning and competence, and adhocracy culture was the most important factor in self-determination and impact. However, the hierarchy and market cultures that pursue control and stability were also cultural types that positively affected psychological empowerment of the workers. Hierarchy culture showed positive effects on meaning, competence, and impact except self-determination, and market culture had positive effect only on competency. Conclusions - The study found that organizational culture is an important predictor of psychological empowerment of the employees in casino companies and that important organizational culture types may be different for each sub-factor of psychological empowerment. • Background & Objectives: Self-rated health has been widely used to evaluate health status and accepted as a subjective measurement of quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the associations between self-rated health, health promotion behaviors, and mental health factors and suggest the approaches to improve health status among university students. Methods: Two thousand six hundred seventy-seven students who had stayed at dormitories on campus participated in the DU health survey by self-reported questionnaire from April 10 to 14, 2017. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to estimate the odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals of association of self-rated health with health-related factors among male and female students. Results: 38.6% of the respondents reported good self-rated health. Male and first-year students were more likely to report good self-rated health than female and third-year students. There were significant differences in sex, grade, health problems, BMI, sleeping hours, eating breakfast, consumption of fruits and vegetables, physical activity (regular walking, strength exercise, moderate exercise, vigorous exercise), perceived stress, depression, and suicide thought (p<0.05). Conclusion: Although health promotion programs for university students are essential to support their adaptation to campus life and academic achievement, evidence-based health programs to encourage their participation are still insufficient. Therefore, it should establish a campus-based health policy and develop health promotion programs to increase self-rated health levels and prevent mental health problems for university students.

  • This study investigates the effects of trust and distrust on intention to purchase in open markets, based on the ideas derived from previous studies such as coexistence of trust and distrust, and two distinct trustees in open markets-intermediary and sellers. Specifically, this study i) proposes a trust-distrust model of intermediary and sellers, ii) explores the transfer of trust and distrust from intermediary to sellers, and iii) discovers the antecedents of trust and distrust. The empirical validation using Partial Least Squares shows three results as follows. First, trust in intermediary positively affects intention to purchase through the mediated impact of trust in sellers. That is, trust in intermediary transfers to trust in sellers. Second, distrust in intermediary negatively affects intention to purchase through the mediated impact of customers' perceived risk. Third, structural assurance and perceived website quality positively affect trust in intermediary. The results of this research have implications for intermediary firms not only to build trust but also to manage distrust level. However, this study could not identify any antecedent of distrust, so further research for these antecedents will be needed in the future.
