Methods: A quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants were 29 couples (58 parents, experimental group=28, control group=30) from G city. The 5-week (5-session) program was developed based on 'A theory of protection: parents as sex educators' and used the case-based small group learning method. Data were collected during July and August 2015. The characteristics of the program developed in the present study were a theoretical-based, client-centered, multi-method. Results: After the intervention, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in sexual knowledge, gender role attitudes, parent efficacy for child's sex education, and marital consistency, compared to the control group. Purpose: This study examined the awareness and attitudes of parents of 5th and 6th graders toward own children smoking. Method: The participants were 766 parents of 5th and 6th graders in 11 elementary schools located in J city. Data were collected through questionnaires, which were constructed to include parents' recognition of harms to their own children cause by smoking, factors which influence their children to smoke, and parental supportive strategies to prevent smoking. Result: The percentage of parents who answered that they did not know if their children were smoking was 94.8%, while the percentage of parents who answered that they knew that their children were smoking was 3.5%. Only 30% of parents had actually spoken with their children about the dangers of smoking. The mean parental recognition of the dangers of smoking was 3.16 points. Parental strategy for preventing and prohibiting smoking with the higher mean scores included forbidding children from entering bars and nightclubs which had the highest scores at 3.55 points; forbidding the sale of cigarettes to children was next at 3.54 points. Conclusion: To prevent children from smoking, the role and attitude of parents is crucial. But the study results show that the role of parental guidance in preventing underage smoking was insufficient and under appreciated. Therefore, more systematic educational programs on preventing underage smoking are essential for parents.
Objective: This study aims to examine the level of parental perceptions and practices on parental role responsibilities for children enrolled in preschools and to verify the differences. Methods: A total of 301 parents whose children were attending preschools participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed for frequency, factor analysis, and reliability. In addition, the t-test and the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) were performed. Results: First, there are relatively high levels of perception and practices of parental role responsibilities. Second, parental perception of parental role responsibilities is higher than the level of actual performance. Third, although parents were highly aware of their role responsibilities, there is a great expectation of the role of preschools for the development of the social competence of children. Fourth, parents value the level of practice of role responsibilities in preschools relatively high. The research was performed responding to the growing needs of Korean foster care programs. It deals specifically with the people who voluntarily provide foster care despite the lack of Government support. The research has also made an effort to understand how the foster parents perceive their parent roles for the foster children. According to the research results based on the parents from the H foster care center, it showed that foster parents generally come from higher educational backgrounds compared to their equivalent age group and also similar or even higher income levels than the average family residing in an urban area. Conclusively, their traits in socio-demographic factors is said to be homogeneous. The research also focused on examining the role perceptions of Korean foster parents. The foster parents were well aware and educated on the significance of the children's psychological adjustments. However, the research recognized some role responsibilities that the parents failed to understand. Hopefully the foster care centers will take on such responsibilities and contribute in helping the parents realize their insufficiencies. Based on the results of the research, the researcher was able to recognize the important issues involved in the recruitment, selection, and education process for the foster parents. Additionally, new role adjustments are necessary among both foster parents and foster centers.

They also reported lower peer attachment, and tended to perceive their friendship functions negative. Second, adolescents who showed stronger attachment to their parents reported more positive feelings and less negative feelings toward their friends. They reported higher peer attachment, and perceived friendship functions positively. Third, adolescents who perceived a higher level of parental marital conflict showed weaker attachment to their parents. Finally, attachment to fathers and mothers mediated the association between parental marital conflict and peer relationships.
