  • The current study examined the latent mean analysis and path analysis comparison between male and female groups in the structural relationships among parent-child conversation, peer attachment, satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center, ego-resiliency, self-esteem, and career identity in adolescents who attend a community child care center. For this purpose, 438 adolescents who participated in the 4th(2017) questionnaire in the 2nd child panel of the community child care center were used. From the analysis results, first, peer attachment and satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center increased ego-resiliency and career identity, but parent-child conversation did not predict ego-resiliency and career identity. Peer attachment and satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center was fully mediated by ego-resiliency and self-esteem to career identity. Second, in the latent mean analysis, male students showed significantly higher latent mean values in ego-resiliency and self-esteem than female students, while female students showed significantly higher latent mean values in parent-child conversation than male students. Third, multi-group analysis revealed different paths to career identity between the genders. Peer attachment can buffer the effect of ego-resiliency and self-esteem on career identity of male students, but satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center buffers more on the ego-resiliency of female students. The results of this study suggest that social support for enhancing ego-resiliency and self-esteem is needed to encourage career identity, and that gender needs to be considered.

Methods: For this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 329 infant teachers who were in charge of the ages between 0 and 2 years. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS / WIN 24.0 program. First, the mean and standard deviation of the subfactors of the infant teachers were determined in order to know the level of professionalism, teacher-infant interaction, In order to investigate the relationship between the variables, we conducted a Pearson correlation analysis. Finally, Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of the teacher's professionalism on teacher-infant interaction and subfactors, and teacher job satisfaction and subfactors. Results: Teacher professionalism was found to have a positive effect on teacher-infant interaction, and caring interaction and teacher-parent-community relations were found to affect teacher-infant interaction. In addition, teacher professionalism had a positive effect on job satisfaction, and child development, curriculum, and teacher-parent-community relations were found to affect job satisfaction. Conclusion/Implications: Influence of teacher-infant interaction and teacher job satisfaction is different according to subfactors of teacher's professionalism. In particular, this suggests that it is necessary to consider ways to selectively raise the level of teacher professionalism according to the situation of infant teachers in each region.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate pediatric nurse parent partnership and factors associated with this partnership. Methods: A survey was conducted with 158 nurses working in pediatric practice at one of 7 hospitals in Seoul, Incheon, and Chungcheongbuk Province. Data were collected from September to December 2013, and analyzed with SPSS Windows 21.0. Results: In hierarchial multiple regression analysis, self-efficacy (${\beta}$=.19, p=.016), clinical decision making (${\beta}$=.15, p=.046), and empowerment (${\beta}$=.29, p=.001) were associated with pediatric nurse parent partnership, after adjusting for marital status, children, education, position and satisfaction with work unit. These factors accounted for 44.0% of the variance in the pediatric nurse parent relationship. Conclusion: These results suggest that pediatric nurse parent partnership could be influenced by the predictors. • The PRQ instrument is parental perspectives of the parent-child relationship. It measured parent-child dimensions that include attachment and involvement. Also, it provides additional information on parenting style, parenting stress and satisfaction with the child's school. This study tested reliability and validity of the Korean version of Parenting Relationship Questionnaire-Child (K-PRQ-C). The K-PRQ-C was administered to parents of 713 elementary school children including 362 boys and 351 girls. They were from 1st to 6th grade children who were recruited form 4 elementary schools in Korea. Reliability was tested through internal consistency. We conducted confirmatory factor analysis. Moreover, scale inter-correlation was conducted for validity test. Discriminant validity conducted through administration to the parents of clinical children with emotional and behavior disorders. Construct validity was also examined through Korean version of the Parenting Sense of Competence. The results of confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the similar factor structures exist for PRQ-C and K-PRQ-C. The results showed a high level of internal consistency as well as construct and discriminant validity. These results showed valid psychometric properties for the K-PRQ-C. The K-PRQ-C provides a reliable and valid means of gathering information about the parent-child relationship. We discussed Implications for the use of the K-PRQ-C as a clinical tool and as a research instrument.

  • The main purpose of this study was to explore the variables predicting mothers' parenting attitudes in Korean-Japanese multi-cultural families in comparison to Korean families. Differences in parental beliefs, life-satisfaction and parenting attitudes between these two groups were also examined. Data were collected via questionnaires from 110 Japanese and 168 Korean mothers of young children. Results revealed that mothers' beliefs on value of child and parental role, life-satisfaction and parenting attitudes were different across the families. Costed-concept of child and low life-satisfaction predicted 'shaming' and 'coercive' parenting for Japanese mothers whereas parental role beliefs as an 'authority' figure predicted 'shaming' parenting for Korean mothers. Life-satisfaction was most influential to predict 'affectionate-rational' parenting for both group.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the compliance, efficacy, and satisfaction associated with methylphenidate and atomoxetine for treating attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: The subjects were 44 patients who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder-5 diagnostic criteria for ADHD and were treated with methylphenidate or atomoxetine. The methylphenidate formulations included immediate release (IR), extended release (ER), and osmotic-controlled release oral delivery system (OROS). Patients and parents reported the average number of days per week the medication was taken. Efficacy was assessed using the ADHD Rating Scale. Satisfaction with medication scale (SAMS)-parent report form and SAMS-self-report form were used to evaluate parents' and patients' satisfaction, respectively. Results: Patients and parents were more satisfied with methylphenidate than with atomoxetine. There were no significant differences in the compliance with and efficacy of methylphenidate and atomoxetine. Compliance with methylphenidate IR and ER was markedly lower than that with OROS methylphenidate or atomoxetine. Conclusion: Methylphenidate OROS formulation can be considered a suitable option given its high rates of compliance, satisfaction, and efficacy.
