This paper presents the design for improving performance of the high-precision Magnetic levitation system. Motor performance on various design schemes such as thickness and magnetizing patterns of the permanent magnets, pole pitch, length of air gap, turn number of windings, and thickness of the aluminum-core has been investigated in detail by using FEM(Finite Element Method) Simulation-based DOE(Design of Experiments) method is also applied in order to reduce the large number of analysis according to each design variable and consider the effect among variables. The design in all aspects is proposed by an optimization algorithm using regression equation derived from the simulation-based DOE.
For a finite group G, let 𝜓(G) denote the sum of element orders of G. If ${\psi}^{{\prime}{\prime}}(G)\,=\,{\frac{\psi(G)}{{\mid}G{\mid}^2}}$, we show here that the image of 𝜓'' on the class of all Dihedral groups whose order is twice a composite number greater than 4 is dense in $[0,\,{\frac{1}{4}}]$. We also derive some properties of 𝜓'' on the class of all dihedral groups whose order is twice a prime number.
This paper propose a method to design the rotor of synchronous reluctance motors(SynRM) for maximum torque and power factor by using DOE(design of experiment) with the design variables which are parameters of barriers and segments. In this process, there are problems that require lots of simulation time and number of simulations when calculating the both torque and power factor using the finite element method in order to find load angle, core loss per speed. In order to improve this problem, we calculate only value of flux linkage by finite element method, and can decrease analysis and the number of analysis time by applying steady state expression of the power factor and torque. Finally, in order to verify the characteristics of optimal model, we make prototype motor and compare with the conventional SynRM. In this experiment, we use the DC current decay test for calculating d-and q-axis inductance.
This study is to investigate the effect of construction element such as the number of CFS ply, curing temperature, splice length and curing periods on the mechanical properties of Carbon Fiber Sheet (CFS). Through the tensile tests of CFS specimens, it can be said that the reduction factor stemmed from the number of CFS ply must be considered in the calculation of the design tensile strength of CFS. Also, the minimum splice length of CFS and curing period in $20^{\circ}C$ to satisfy the standard tension strength of CFS are over 5cm and after 3days, respectively. The measuring error of epoxy resin have no effect to tension strength of CFS until $\pm$20% error.
The reduction ratio of the magnetic gear is determined by the ratio of the number of poles between the high-speed permanent magnet layer and the low-speed permanent magnet layer. In general, it is known that the greater the least common multiple of both poles, the smaller the torque ripple called by cogging of the magnetic force generated in the magnetic gear. However, little is known about the effect of the harmonic modulator that filters the magnetic field in the magnetic gear to magnetically couple the high-speed side and the low-speed side except for the number of poles. In this study, torque ripple characteristics according to changes in modulator shape such as opening ratio and tooth thickness are analyzed using a finite element analysis tool.
In this paper we present an efficient method for finite element vibration analysis of a structure with cyclic symmetry and applied it to calculating the natural vibration characteristics for a blower impeller. Blower impeller having a cyclically symmetric structure is composed of circumferentially repeated substructures., The whole-structure is partitioned into substructures and then finite element vibration analysis is performed for a substructure using transformed equations for each number of nodal diameter which are derived from discrete Fourier transform in consideration of the cyclic symmetry. natural vibration characteristics for three kinds of models which are blower impeller without support ring with small support ring and with large support ring are numerically analyzed and compared. Accuracy and efficiency of the present method are verified by comparison of results of the analysis with substructure and with whole-structure. Also the results of the analysis by cyclic symmetry module(SOL 115) of MSC/NASTRAN are presented and compared.
In order to accurately measure the high voltage of 22.9[kV] power distribution lines we investigated the temperature dependence of measuring voltage on the number of stack layers in the voltage measurement system made from single and stack voltage divider capacitors (22, 44, 66 layers, respectively). Temperature coefficient of dielectric constant(TC$\varepsilon_{{\gamma}}$/)of voltage divider capacitors which were fabricated by BaTi $O_3$system ceramics showed the variations from -2.28% to +1.69% in the range of -25[$^{\circ}C$] ~50[$^{\circ}C$]) was decreased with increasing of stack number and the stack element of 66 layers showed the least error of $\pm$0.87%or of $\pm$0.87%.
The goal of this paper is to determine the eigenvalues of a uniform rectangular plate carrying any number of spring-damper-mass systems using an analytical-and-numerical-combined method (ANCM). To this end, a technique was presented to replace each "spring-damper-mass" system by a massless equivalent "spring-damper" system with the specified effective spring constant and effective damping coefficient. Then, the mode superposition approach was used to transform the partial differential equation of motion into the matrix equation, and the eigenvalues of the complete system were determined from the associated characteristic equation. To verify the reliability of the presented theory, all numerical results obtained from the ANCM were compared with those obtained from the conventional finite element method (FEM) and good agreement was achieved. Since the order of the property matrices for the equation of motion obtained from the ANCM is much lower than that obtained from the FEM, the CPU time required by the ANCM is much less than that by the FEM.
Due to the unique characteristic of auxetic material, negative poisson's ratio, it has a variety of distinctive properties compared to conventional materials. Numerous researches have been conducted on the auxetic material in order to find out how to make auxetics. In this study, we analyzed triangular and rectangular patterned rotating rigid units using finite element method. Our purpose is to investigate the mechanical properties of the rotating rigid units and to show their auxetic behaviors. We studied the Poisson's ratio and the bulk modulus of the rotating rigid units depending on their unit cell sizes. The Poisson's ratio and the bulk modulus decreased as the number of unit cells increased. Also, when the geometry of the unit cell was changed, the tendency of the Poisson's ratio and the bulk modulus was also different from the previous case. The results of the Poisson's ratio and the bulk modulus referred that they were critically affected by the number of unit cells and the shape of unit cell.

This study is aimed to obtain fundamental knowledge of pulse laser welding phenomena the authors investigated the structure and composition of evaporated particles of Al alloys in air and in the Ar atmosphere during pulsed laser welding. The ultra-fine particles of 5 to 100nm diameter in a globular or irregular shape were formed in laser-induced plasma and the main structure was $MgAl_2O_4$ The composition of particles was ifferent depending on the power density of a laser beam; namely under the low power density conditions magnesium was predominant in the parti-cles while aluminium content increased with an increase in the power density. These results were attributed to evaporation phenomena of metals with different boiling points and latent heats of vaporization. On the other hand the number density of laser-induced plasma species was obtained by Saha's equation. it was confirmed that the number density depends upon the plasma tempera-ture and total pressures.
